    Btw, it’s not the fact that she’s gone that people love this version of the anthem. It’s because, those of us who were alive to witness it remembers how it made us feel when she sang it. She made this song give us hope at a time of war. Her VOICE cradled us like a baby and made us feel secure in our nation. She was and still is our national treasure.

      It was the families entire reaction but when the mother teared up that got me the most. Chills and tears are the ultimate respect and compliment. It's one thing for us Americans to get chills and tear up ... but when someone else expresses those sane feelings it shows you just how powerful it was. She was the total package. Whitney's voice...range... and power can bring chills and tears to the strongest of heart. She is the standard The G.O.A.T and this rendition for me will never be matched. Her voice was truly a gift from God. RIP QUEEN Whitney. So missed.

    Many of guys that played in that Super Bowl said that that part was their favorite memory of the day... above even the game.

    This rendition always brings a tear to my eye as well....and I'm a big, tough country boy. I remember it like it was yesterday. Everybody watching at my house was totally silent....which NEVER happens.
    It was a time of great national pride. We came together as a country after a couple of decades of arguing between ourselves.
    It was a better time and she was simply great. Words can't describe how perfectly that performance fit the time.
    Wish we could get back there...
    It shouldn't take another country attacking us for the people of the USA to band together! United we stand, divided we fall.

    I can remember this day as if it happened YESTERDAY! I was in the kitchen cooking during the Superbowl 91 and they said Whitney Houston, I didn't even know that she was supposed to be singing the national anthem but I literally stopped what I was doing to go listen to her sing the national anthem and tears began to roll down my face because at that moment I knew no one would ever sing this song better than her and here it is 2021 and tears are still rolling down my face. The GREATEST of ALL TIME!

    Every single way she sang those notes were intentional and tasteful. She knew what she was doing. When she hits the "and the rockets red glare" part is when the tears start flowing. Just so beautiful and powerful.

    I remember watching this live. I was 10 years old, and this was the best version of the anthem ever sung, and for it to be done at such a significant moment in US history made its impact even more powerful to us as a people.

    If you haven't listened to any of her music, there is plenty that showcase that powerhouse of a voice. If only in your personal time that you listen to her, you WILL NOT be disappointed. That gave me goosebumps through my phone and I've heard it hundreds of times. Rest easy Whitney

    I was serving in the Gulf War at the time and my Comrades and I watched this I believe at like 2 or 3 am in the morning bcuz of the time difference. When she sung this, it was a silence of awe and amazement and not one dry eye in the place. I still get chills and tears hearing this version by her.

    Every time I hear the national anthem played or vocalized, I cry. It means so much to patriots of America. As a sidenote, I am 71 years old.

    She had such an incredible voice. The Star Spangled Banner is a difficult song to sing and she made it look and sound so easy. She sang our national anthem simply, with few embellishments, and did it better than any singer I've ever heard. I am 61 and have heard thousands of renditions of this song. I have NEVER heard a more moving and beautifully sung version. I still get goose bumps.

    This version came out while I was in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait for Desert Storm. I did not get to see this game or this version until July of 1991 when I returned to the States.....it still gives me chills!!!

    Be inspired by Whitney Houston singing, “One Moment in Time.” I believe she sang it for the 1988 Olympic team. All of her songs were incredible. Listen to her version of “I Will Always Love You” for that powerful voice.

    I am not an American but Whitney's rendition of this anthem makes me feel patriotic. She made this universal! Could I ask that you react to something else that nobody else's has ever reacted to. If you want to see true emotion, react to Kevin Costner's eulogy to her at her funeral.

I'm from South Africa, so in turn I dedicate our anthem to all people who have struggled too. It too is beautiful. Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika, which means God bless Africa and consists of 5 languages. Xhosa, Zulu, Sesotho, Afrikaans and English.

    I think what also makes this rendition special is the musical composition behind "The Voice" and the fact that she wore a sweat suit to the event and it was as if she was conveying to the stadium that she was right there with them. She did not show up all glitz out like celebrities tend to do, but she showed up in nondescript ordinary attire with an extraordinary voice. The way that she interpreted the National Anthem in song was just epic! Yes, Whitney Houston's rendition is *THE* all time best!

    Most people don’t change their inflection or intensity while singing the national anthem. They just blare it the whole way. She knew that softening her voice at the middle and bringing the power during the most emotional points of the song would show the impact that was felt when the poem was written. That’s what artists do. Bring emotion and know how to enhance other pieces of art.

    I remember that moment in time. I was just about 10, Persian gulf war, friends’ big brothers and uncles in the service, some didn’t come home. This hit different. That beautiful and powerful voice coming through basically embodying American pride and hope at the biggest sporting event in the country.

    I was in my first apartment when this came on and it felt like the world paused. I was proud to be an American and a woman and black all in this same chills up my spine moment. I don't think this rendition will ever be topped. So glad they got her for it. It's a historical moment and her voice is God gifted ❤

    I remember this when it was broadcast live. Simply phenomenal. The most moving and best performed version of our national anthem ever. If you want to be moved to tears by another performance by Whitney Houston, you should hear her sing One Moment In Time, the song from the 1988 summer olympics.

    As an African-American woman who was 17 at the time the late Miss Houston did this anthem I thank you for showing this video. At that time the town that I am from already had service members deployed to support the Persian Gulf War. I would also serve upon graduation. I have seen this video many times and it never, and I do mean "NEVER" gets old. I will admit that because of copyrights I could not see the video this time, but the expressions on your son and daughters faces was priceless. Whitney's was affectionately known as the "VOICE"! Now, you know why. Be Blessed.

    I saw her sing this. What struck me the most was that she didn't try to overdue it...as so many have since. She didn't need to. Her beautiful heartfelt rendition, carried along by her natural God given voice, was all that was needed to leave us with the most stirring rendition of our national anthem ever. I doubt it will ever be equalled, let alone surpassed.

    Whitney's voice, the Florida Orchestra and Jahja Jing's arrangement makes this the definitive and absolutely best rendition ever. This is as good as it gets. Period.
