Hey folks!! I was so amazed by this performance by Whitney Houston! She definitely did the Great Star Spangled Banner Justice :) I hope you all are having the best day! God Bless :)
I'm a 72 year old male and a proud citizen of the USA and must say that this rendition of the National Anthem is my all time favorite. Whitney seemed to be feeling the deeper meaning of the spirit of this anthem and the crowd was 100% behind her. I appreciate you reacting to our National Anthem. God bless you!
Her father was a veteran.. you can tell just how much she felt the raw emotion singing our athem, theres real feeling and pride within the lyrics as she sang our anthem.. We are all so proud of this rendition and so very proud of her for doing it so beautifully. Just stunning, really. God Bless you Whitney..thank you for sharing your beautiful gift with us all, you are truly missed. Awesome that people are still watching this particular performance years later is a testament of her talent.
I never had that much pride in America until I heard this version. I was 17 when this performed and til this day, there's no one that has been able to top it. Whitney is incomparable!❤ RIParadise dear❤❤❤
Whitney was from another stratosphere. Her talent always astounded me before, but now that she's gone, her voice makes me cry. We were blessed to have her.
Brilliant performance and so effortless for her. Her shoulders are so relaxed and the power of her voice is beyond compare. She sings this song with absolute joy. RIP.
Whitney Houston was a gift that is gone too soon and without doubt this performance of the National Anthem is stunningly beautiful. But whenever I hear the song no matter how it is delivered, the song always moves me. It is custom in America to stand for the anthem with your right hand over your heart and I’ve been doing that all my 63 years. Respect.
I come from three generations of American veterans, so the national anthem has a special place in our hearts... Whitney Houston she will always be an American icon...
The singing, period, is always good to hear. But, I can't listen to her rendition of it here without getting teary-eyed--every single time! Then, they capped this amazing performance off with a flyover.
Whitney's Anthem performance has and will continue to stand the test of time. The song itself is challenging for anyone to sing, but Whitney made it seem effortless♥️
My family and I (we were a military family) were assigned to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1991 just after Operation Desert Storm. When we arrived in Riyadh, there was still smoke coming down from the oil fields in Kuwait that Saddam Hussein had set ablaze. We didn't know what we would have in Saudi Arabia, nor what we'd be allowed to bring with us, but the one thing we knew we wanted to bring with us was a video of this rendition of the Star Spangled Banner by the late, great Ms. Whitney Houston. To me, it is the best, and I simply can't imagine it ever being surpassed.
As one of the many who recommended this, thank you for watching it! I remember it vividly and still cry every time I watch it. Our country was in a much better place then and I hope we can get back some of our national spirit. tt was a perfect rendition. What a voice.
She made my spirit smile, the best in history, nothing can compare to this woman. Her voice was like no other to this day. My favorite all time rendition of the national anthem. Rest in peace beautiful Angel. You were perfect in every way. ❤
Instant sobbing obviously. It’s hard to explain ALL of the reasons. I will say every time I hear this done very well. I instantly visualize the story. I love history and this song is a part of that. Best version EVER. But I also cry for Whitney and her brilliant tragic life.
Our Anthem is of great pride, but Whitney Houston perfected it entirely. Can’t help but bawl out tears every time this gets played especially now that she’s no longer here. R.I.P. 🇺🇸❤️🔥🇺🇸 Ms. Whitney
Pride! Will never let our flag be knocked down. Will make sure that our flag will all ways stand tall and fly in the wind. Let it be the beacon of freedom, peace, strength and pride!!
THE best! I cry every time. With all the crap my country is going through right now; the shame I feel regarding how we are treating each other; how we are perceived across the globe; and the hesitation and fear for what our future holds, I take comfort going back to this moment and listening to this amazing woman. It serves to remind me of my humanity, my pride, my love, and my respect for this country and the principles on which it was built. We will persevere.
The emotion is PRIDE! In Whitney’s amazing voice, in the incredible story of America, in the song itself, how every military man or woman stops everything, stands and salutes for the duration in respect. America has always tried, and failed so many times, to live up to her own ideals. In spite of the failures, we are United. The emotion is pride.
Always a tear. That song always gets me because i can see our potential. We have a long long way to go and will never get there but we need to keep pushing! Thanks for your respect. Well done.
I will always remember this this was January 1991. It was my last memory of being in Jacksonville Florida 3 months (March)before I turned 16 and we moved to Missouri for 4 years. I remember feeling apart of my country for the first time knowing my history as a black person in America and the racist history of the song. I was proud to be an American..
This brings forth incredible humility in me, for all the men and women throughout numerous wars that risked THEIR LIVES, and sadly too often lost them, for ALL of us here in the USA( not to mention those who benefited around the world). No matter their personal beliefs or opinions, when our government said "GO", they went and honored THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Lines written on a simple piece of paper but, oh, how those words written so long ago, point us onward to form a MORE perfect union. We are and continue to be a work in progress, still a very young nation in comparison to many. Whitney put the proper emotion into this song, joyfully declaring as long as that flag stands, we stand and we will be brave and we WILL be free. Whitney's rendition was about as perfect as it can be sung, not an easy one to sing and she was victorious in her execution. Don't think anyone will top that for very long time.
I remember watching this live when I was 22 at my Dads house who was an ex-Marine. After the game everyone kept commenting on how it was by far the best part of that Super Bowl as the game was a ridiculous blow out. It was the talk of the town (Las Vegas) for at least a week afterwards it would come up in conversations at the poker room and black Jack tables. People would say about how proud it made them feel to be American. Sadly you don’t hear allot of people saying that nowadays 😢
I was overseas with the army when this superbowl (and anthem) happened. It was on at about 2AM but most of us stayed up to watch it. I can’t remember who was playing in the game or who won, but I’ll never forget this. After she was done everyone looked at each other and said “Wow!” Nobody had ever heard it sung like that and it really hit home what it was to be an American (especially when overseas).
Gone too soon. Not only did Whitney posses the voice of God, but if you know the true story behind the writing of the original poem by Frances Scot Key, you understand why we Americans are so passionate about it. RIP my Angel. May you be singing angelically in the Heavens.
Remember that the other part of the equation that makes this, is the arrangement by John Clayton. His subtle re-harmonizations, plus shifting from 3/4 to 4/4, were genius moves.
Hey folks!! I was so amazed by this performance by Whitney Houston! She definitely did the Great Star Spangled Banner Justice :) I hope you all are having the best day! God Bless :)
No one has ever done it better than Whitney.
And never will.
Charice came close 2nd best
A lot have done it better than her, her rendition is disgusting. She sounds drunk several times through it.
Ever!
Chris Stapleton did it same level in my opinion 😊
NOBODY can touch Whitney. Her rendition is on a level all by itself. ♥♥
It was flawless!! ❤️

Brilliant performance and so effortless for her. Her shoulders are so relaxed and the power of her voice is beyond compare. She sings this song with absolute joy. RIP.
So true. What an unforgettable performance by her
Whitney's vocal knowledge and vocal talent was preternatural. She did that without autotune or vocal enhancements. You would like "I Have Nothing!"
When I heard it on television live during the gulf war, it brought me to tears. I have heard it since, but none compares.
I'm french and she touch my soul so deep rip for she ❤🙏

ESPN did a show called "Whitney's Anthem". Worth a watch.
I didn't know about this. I am going right now to try and find it to watch. Thanks!

Emotions are impressive, patriotic, goosebumps and flowing tears with amazing awe. Happiness.
Song makes me proud to be American. And heartbroken Whitney is gone, and that she left the way she did.
Rest Well, Whitney.
The good lord just lent us one of his angels for a little while and then decided our time was up and needed her back.

I watched it on TV live that night. I don’t remember anything about the game but I remember everything about hearing her sing that night.
The Bills lost again in that SB.

Just my opinion Whitney's rendition screams what America for me.

Francis Scott Key owns the poem. Whitney Houston owned the performance!
I Love My Country! Thank You. Love, from Oklahoma, USA🤍

It makes me miss how much my country used to love my country.

effortless, perfection.........
I cry every freaking time!

Everyone in the room was crying as she sang this song at our house
Brings back memories I was deployed to Operation Desert Shield/Storm
For me it’s very emotional… it’s about love, unity, coming together during a hard time for the country! ❤❤❤
Can not say exactly why but for me, our National Anthem, our flag passing by, ALWAYS is an emotional thing. I am so grateful to live here.
It makes me beyond proud to be American
I cry every time I watch the video
