lol... Of course she sang it just as she would normally :).. all those near her would have heard it wonderfully...... i didn't believe it but further research has proven that the recording played in the stadium was indeed a pre recorded track, but nevertheless she belted it out as she would have always

@@BritPopsReactwhere's your proof of this?? I agree with the other person it seems like you're trying to undermine her through her voice.
From what I learned it was live and she did not prepare fully for it even though people were concerned.

I am not American, but the first time I ever heard Whitney sing this, and the faces of the proud American's in the audience, it made me want to learn about America and also the history of the wording of their national anthem. I recommend to anyone who wants to know more, to research why the anthem is worded the way it is. You will be awed and amazed (seriously). It made me realise why American's are so patriotic.

The whole thing about the pre-recorded bit is that they do this to everyone who sings the anthem (at the Super Bowl at least). Everyone tries to make it such a scandal. She recorded this in 1 take. Also, you can tell she's singing it regardless by the bulging veins on her neck, sweat on her upper lip that she always got when singing live. But almost everyone knows who sang the National Anthem.

Yes it was common practice and it still is in most cases to prerecord the vocal to avoid the technical issues that could arise from such a big live, outdoor production. Because of the controversy her tv special “Welcome home heroes” was already scheduled to be televised on HBO a few weeks later. So to quiet the naysayers she opened the show with a live version of the National Anthem which she started completely acapella. This version turned out to be just as good if not better than the Super Bowl version.

Who cares if Whitney sang this live or not? She sang the anthem, better than anyone else. Ever.

Hi both, She was such an amazing singer, it’s so sad how her life turned out and ended. At the end of the day, she did sing wether recorded or live. RIP Whitney. A great upload and reaction ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

She did sing but into a dead microphone 🎤 it was a pre recorded track. " Beyonce " did the same. probably pressure from TV channels who wanted perfect sound quality.

It's like they called her up last minute and she just threw on a tracksuit, flawed everybody in that giant stadium, jumped off the stage and went back home in time to watch Dynasty. I don't think Whitney truly knew how her singing touched people.

Pre-recording is actually very common at performances given at sporting events as the crowd, background noise, and general acoustics are not designed to carry live singing properly.

I think part of the reason people get emotional about the US national anthem even more than their own national anthem is because of how hard it is to sing so when it gets nailed it sounds a thousand times better than easier to sing national anthem

Ok, Dudes. (I'm from California) My fact-checking is pretty well done, having looked into four different resources. The guy wearing glasses is correct. The technical explanations make complete sense, given: 73,000 live attendance, 100 million TV audience, and at least four times that number worldwide. In other words, too many possible glitches, etc. etc. So yes, what 'we' hear is Whitney's pre-recorded vocal. And apparently she was indeed singing "live" into a "dead" mic. Kudos to the orchestra director for keeping it together!
Nevertheless. Dude with Glasses could well have chosen a better moment to bring that all up, and could also have (in my opinion) done so without such a droll delivery. Unless that's just his style. Whatever.
So let's put this puppy to bed. Later in the same year, Ms. Houston performed 'Star Spangled...' at the "Welcome Home Heroes" Concert. This is certified LIVE and so even more emotion-filled. OK?

Hey Bob, great to hear from you and you made so good points, however a very quick search will show you that Ricky Minor who produced the event stated that the music and singing were pre-recorded.
Here is the link and the explanaition:

I believe that it was the NFL that required a prerecording because of the importance of the performance and the war and the millions of people watching around the world. In any event, she *did* sing the song because you can see the neck bulging and the sweat on her lip.
Whitney left us a gem of a performance for many to enjoy for many years to come! RIP Whitney

The tune to this anthem was composed by John Stafford Smith in 1784. It was an 18th Century British Gentleman's Club song called The Anacreon in Heaven.
So this National Anthem is both American AND British.

Two things. First of all, singing and performing in a huge stadium, with a huge band and loud speakers all around you is very difficult. When you are singing one note you are able to hear the two notes back still ringing in the loud speakers. It is a very reasonable thing to lip sync in that type of environment.
Second, The Star Spangled Banner is written in 3/4 time (3 beats per measure) She had it arranged in 4/4 time (4 beats per measure) which although the band was not too enthusiastic about, because it seemed to make it drag and boring to them, but it allowed her to add elements to her vocals, that made it come alive. It is one of the reasons that makes it uniquely different from all previous performances of the National Anthem. It took courage and skill to make that change.

wrong info gentlemen, Whitney sent a pre -recorded version to the NFL ahead of time so the NFL could sign off on it & NFL didnt like it & told her to change it ! Whitney said NO! thats the way she going to sing it! however before she went on the NFL warned her that the mike might go out ( what a crock of bovine) they tried to scare her into doing it traditionally, so NO it wasnt pre recorded she sang it LIVE!

I believe that's correct re lip syncing i believe also " Beyonce " did the same but imo I don't see anything wrong with that when conditions are not right for a live performance , and there is no doubting that both artists voices are world class also pressure from the TV channels I guess .
