There are historical reasons why the tax isn't automatically added, but they pretty much all have to do with limitations of technology in the past. The only real reason that it's still done is because the companies can use it to try and trick the customer and they lobbied the government to keep the laws that way. It's really not that big a of a deal for people who live in the US because we are just used to the system and can guess pretty accurately what the final price is. Unless you're in California, then there's random extra taxes and fees that nobody else has.

Subway is definitely better than most places for subs. I have never liked a sub from anywhere more than subway, the bread is nicer at subway, the variety is better, the taste is far better, I have only seen one bad subway and that was fixed once the franchise owner was notified that his lazy employees were letting stuff dry out in the bins. I am Canadian...This happened in Toronto Canada it was an NHL Hockey Game. The US National Anthem was being sung at the time and the mic gave out but without missing a beat the Toronto Canadian Fans jumped in and sang the US National Anthem. The amazing part was that Canadians knew the U S National Anthem and gave it the respect it deserves. This is what Canadians do .....I am proud to be Canadian

America has never been as united as modern mythology would have everyone think. In the earliest days, politics was extremely divided between the Federalists and Jeffersonian Democrats. Vice President Aaron Burr, a Democrat, fought a duel with Alexander Hamilton, a Federalist and former Treasury Secretary (who, for non-Americans, is now on our $10 bill). This interparty strife continued until eventually Civil War broke out. Following that war, at the time the US was becoming the world's largest economy, politics remained an area of conflict (we can't forget President Lincoln was assassinated and his successor, Andrew Johnson was impeached though not convicted.). I won't go on but there really was never a time when American social and political life was all peace and harmony. The 1950s and early 1960s came close . . . until all the Kennedy assassination, the Vietnam protests, and the Robert Kennedy and Martin King assassinations brought that to an end. What we have today is pretty standard for America. I don't doubt if something really existential came along, we'd unite as usual.

Since WW II, India has had a close relationship with the USSR/Russia and its military is mostly equipped with Russian kit. Since the Ukraine invasion, however, this has begun to change and India has largely stopped buying new Russian gear (I would suspect in large part because Russia isn't selling much that it needs itself) and is shifting to NATO standard. It will take years for a full transition, but the point is that, far from being antagonistic to the US, the India-US relationship seems to be growing closer. Your concern, I assume, is related to the "BRICS" alliance. The term "BRICS" began as an economic one, referring to the group of emerging countries that seemed close to breaking through into "developed" status and were therefore attractive places to invest. It has been a more recent development that those countries have adopted the term for political purposes. But I would keep in mind that, for example, though they are both "BRICS", India and China are historical enemies, Russia is weaker than in decades due to the Ukraine conflict and Brazil is struggling economically under the left-leaning Lula government. I'll leave you to assess the relative health of the economy and politics in your own country. I don't think the BRICS, in spite of their wishes, constitute much of a threat to US or developed world power.

American essentially can better supply a force halfway around the globe than basically any other country could be fighting on their own soil. The second goes into detail about how the US has been essentially handed a huge advantage in multiple areas that make it so powerful economically (assisting in military power), how self-reliant it is capable of being in basically every category, and how secure it is from invasion. If it matters, both are videos that other RUclipsrs have reacted to and did well with on views, relative to their channel sizes.

83yo, as of today. I've seen a lot in my country during that time, but, since our recent election, I've never been more optimistic about the USA's future. We just endured a 4-year hiatus from conservative common sense, but our path back to world leadership is about to begin again, and, by the Grace of God, we will make the world safer and more prosperous than ever!
