Man I’m a Roma gypsy from the musician tribe and my dad been listening to him since the 70’s and he always told me he loves him so much because he’s soul and passion for music it’s very close to our world .. and than I found this song and showed him and he was like I told you 😊❤ 👑
He is the most gifted and amazing guitarist that I have ever listened to and I lived down in New Orleans and heard some really great music! I have followed himfor years and really missed him when he stopped sending his sound to America~ Thank God still performs ! Thank you1

This clip looks like it was part of the set that was Sesame Street in the mid 1970s. I’m 48 now and I still love to listen to this man play and sing. My 2.5 year old now strums along with him like I did. He has mentored generation after generation. Pure gold ...

Amazing, this song means more to me since the first time I heard it as a kid. Growing up I joined a band, and we toured internationally and across the US and Canada many times. Each year that went by the song meant more and got heavier. The lyrics are solid. The man, felt and saw with more than his eyes. I am eternally thankful music like this exists.

One day in 1972, my father said, "You, boy, come here and watch this show. Sit here and and watch this show. I want you to watch it every day." I was 6 and I was completely amazed that he actually wanted me to watch tv. I did what he said, of course. The show was Sesame Street and I was instantly hooked. Three years later, I'm sitting there watching all alone, as was often the case, and this clip came on. Well, I was out of my mind. Why this song did not become a gigantic hit is anyone's guess, but it is magnificent.

I remember Jose from my childhood, have always admired his voice and skills. And to know now that he´s been totally blind all his life; makes him still more adorable. And gives me hope; maybe some day I can play guitar about the same way...:-)

The Gypsy is one of Jose's best compositions - he literally put his soul into the song - the lyrics where he is singing about himself, the superb guitar playing and his soulful voice - a true Feliciano masterpiece.
It is on his album For My Love, Mother Music from 1974.

But there is another upload of this performance on RUclips that confirms it is indeed a clip from that kids show, and comments indicate it aired on TV around 1975. (Jose Feliciano might be best known in the U.S. for his cover of the Doors' Light My Fire and the Christmas favorite Feliz Navidad.)
