This was my first fuji lens. I got it in a kit with the xt30 back in 2019. I've added more lenses to my kit, but this one remains my favorite. I've done portrait sessions with the xf35mm f2, xf50mm f2, and xf16-80mm f4 and the photos and image quality were awesome. Can't recommend this lens enough.
Hey, I can totally see why you love it, so far it seems like a great lens and super sharp too. Cheers for the info always cool to hear what other people like using. I think I will be hanging on to this one for a while 👍
I would love to give the 16mm a go at some point, might just be a bit wider than I normally like but I have heard good things. Yeah the 35mm works great for most things and is super sharp.
I tend to get swirly corners on my 35mm f2 at wide open especially. Something to be aware of and if you watch test charts of the lens you can see that. Unfortunately too late for me to return and wish I would've known that before, but I saw all these videos saying it was great so figured it was a no brainer.
I don't think I have noticed that too much that I can remember to be honest. I know some people actually like that effect for portraits etc but I'm sure it goes away when you stop down a little does it? Personally I love it for my style but it is not totally perfect. I am not sure if any lens is though haha
I just picked this up a few days ago and really like it so far. Small and light enough to fit in my shoulder bag along with the 16/2.8 and 18-55 kit, Images are fantastic and I like having that f2. The lens hood doesn’t bother me, it’s so small that I don’t even notice it - and it’s not like I’m constantly removing it and putting it back on 😂
Hey Tom! Oh really, good stuff. That's a nice little selection of lenses you have. Totally agree, I didn't think I would really use it at F2 much but it's nice in lower light and for portraits. Yeah I'm exactly the same, having a lens hood is better than nothing and I think it looks okay to be fair haha
@@chriiistianxd Hi. I've got the 16 mm F2.8 lens. It is good for group shots, but I've heard that it is best not to have anyone near the edge as there is distortion and they can look different to other people in the shot. Other than that it is great and good for scenery. Just in case that helps with your decision.
I like the 35mm APSC (aka Nifty-fifty FOV). I went with the cheaper option the Pergear 35mm F1.2. Because I knew I wouldn't get as much use with the 35mm as I'm getting with the 23mm. I love my 23mm F2 WR, rarely leaves my X-H1. 90% of my videos with the X-H1 are shot with it. FYI, the 23mm F2 WR is one of the compatible lenses to the latest 40MP FUJI sensor.
Hey Hananias ✌ Yeah it's been working nicely for me so far. Oh really, what do you think of the Pergear option so far then? I mean if you don't use it much then that might be the right choice for you. I would love to give the 23mm a try at some point too I think it would also work nicely for my style. That sounds like a good combination to be fair. Cheers for the info I didn't know only certain lenses were compatible with that sensor.
I have the 18-55 zoom lens and the 35mm F2 lens. I'd say the 35mm is my most used between the too as it's too compact with my X-T30II. Most of my usage are street photography so it's perfect for that scenerio but it's also a good lens when I drive to the countryside and shoot there. It's a good overall. It's also compact so I can use my small camera bag and still have my camera and the 18-55 along with the 35mm on it.
I've been using this, the 35 f2 along with the Viltrox 23mm f1.4 for a long time now, and it is a perfect combo of 2 amazing primes (value for money!) for pretty much every need, except maybe wildlife/ long tele shots, which I am not a big fan of. 😍
Hey! That seems like a great combo of lenses right there. I am the same actually, on some occasions some extra zoom would be nice but very rarely tbh. Keep shooting ✌
Hi Mac. That lens is great. Every camera should have that focal length. I've got it in silver with my silver XT30. I have been wondering about getting a used XT3 and will probably try to pick up a good used copy. As you say, the benefit of weather sealing with the 35 mm F.2 makes it worthwhile. Used prices should be good now that XT5 is released.
Hey Ken! So far I totally agree, look forward to using it a lot more. Yeah it is nice to have something I can take out and not be afraid of the rain 😂 Your're probably right too, I'm sure the price will drop a little at least. The camera is already a solid deal for what it can offer I think.
@@MacnTeensVisuals 99% of a time I’m using at 1.4. Such a soft and pure bokeh - hard to resist. Even though you may use at 1.4 when you’r shooting landscapes.
Also, I ask, what causes this lens to give Fuji cameras more megapixels? It’s a 26mp sensor but with this lens for some reason I get about 28-29 megapixel when I open it up in CaptureOne.
Honestly I have never heard this. If the sensor is 26mp then the photo has to be the same as far as I know the lens can't make a difference, it's just glass in front of the sensor 🤔
I haven't used the 30mm 2.8 but no I still think the 35mm F2 will remain a popular choice and it's also reasonably priced too. It just totally depends what you like, if you want something slightly wider then it may be a good option but it's very close and there is also the 23mm which is very popular.
Cool, i have the lens on my x-t1, but pictures show darker corners and a dark band left & right side. Looks like I shoot through a pipe. Wonder why only the center shows no dark?
Oh really that's strange I haven't had that kind of issue at all or heard anyone else with it. That almost sounds like there might be a problem with it to be honest but I'm not totally sure.
Even though this doesn't count as prime lens, I would just put the Viltrox EOS EF-S/EF to FX mount adapter so I can use my Canon lenses with my Fuji and it's the best companion ever.
Each to their own, if that works for you then it's a great choice 👍 Speaking of Viltrox I would like to try out some third part lenses, I hear some of them can be great.
Bro I'm stuck between Fujifilm Fujinon XC 35mm F2 Prime Lens & Fujifilm Fujinon XF 35mm F2 R WR Prime Lens Which one should I buy? Cause the XF is like double the price..but is it worth it?
Hey there! I haven't actually tried the XC 35mm but I would imagine the XF35mm would be a sharper lens and it's also weather sealed. If you have the budget I would recommend the XF35mm it's a great lens and will keep it's value.
Hey, I have came across two which look nice, one from Haoge and the other is a company called Squarehood. Honestly I haven't used either or seen them in reality but they are metal and from photos they look the part. Maybe I'll get one at some point lol
@@HypertronicTeddy No worries. For video we use a Tide Optics subtle cinesoft filter. And sometimes we use a Marumi DHG Super Circular Polarizer too for photo and video 👍
Fuji really makes some incredible glass! It was between this and the 16mm for me and I’m a sucker for super wide so I opted for the 16mm. But now there is this big focal length gap in my lenses and this video made me want the 35 rather badly 😂
And I certainly look forward to trying more of it out haha The decisions are never easy, have heard it's a great lens too though. Oh dear, the dreaded focal length gap. Not what your wallet wants to hear 😂 To be fair though I think these are a bit of a bargain compared to some other Fuji lenses, especially if you grab one on ebay or something 👍
Hey hey! That is a great setup up too though we will still use the 18-55mm if we prefer a different focal length. Plus the 18-55mm is a great video lens 👍 Keep saving and look out for those bargains haha
That's a great question actually and honestly I don't know. They do look very similar, if they have the same filter size then I would imagine so but haven't tried it tbh.
Hey there! Honestly I am not sure how much performance difference there is. The XC range of lenses is supposed to be the more affordable range and the XF lenses are considered the professional range so it would actually be interesting to see just how much difference there actually is 🤔
I have the 35mm f2 for the X-T4 and I love using it! I can use it for all sorts of scenarios and it always delivers great results!
