I have one doubt, if my av receiver supports Dolby Atmos and my av receiver connected audio speakers are 7.1 configuration ( those speakers are not Dolby certified) then as per this video we didn't get the Dolby Atmos sound effects, rights ? Then if I changed av receiver configuration to 7.1.2 and connected the speakers ( those are not Dolby certified), then let me know will i get Dolby Atmos sound effect from that???
If the avr is 7 channel and it supports Atmos, then you are good. Change the speaker configuration to 5.1.2 inside the avr settings. It's the avr which needs to be Atmos certified. Speakers can be from any brand. Even custom made speakers can be used. Sound quality varies based on the speaker selection, but you can still enjoy Atmos effect. Make sure that the additional speakers are placed correctly. If you have a 9 channel avr, set it to 5.1.4 configuration rather than 7.1.2. That's what I think would be better than the latter. Note: AVRs with 7 or more channels support a lot of speaker configurations than we could imagine. Like the 6th and 7th speakers can be positioned on top of front speakers, towards the front of the ceiling, middle of the ceiling, ceiling back, as side speakers, bi amplification to front speakers to get more power from the tower speakers, play sound from a different source, etc.
@@averagestudent4358 7.1 should be the minimum required to enjoy true Atmos effect. To enjoy surround audio from the Dolby Digital / DTS audio which are available in almost all movies, we need to place 5 speakers around us. So 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer should be placed in the conventional positions. Even if we have 7.1 or 9.1 AVR, only this many speakers will output sound in those movies. We have 2 more channels available here. This can be placed in the ceiling or close to ceiling in down firing position. When Dolby Atmos certified audio is played, these speakers will work with the remaining speakers to give sound effects coming from above, like a helicopter flying above, rain fall, bee buzzing around, etc. Please note that they will be playing sound may be less than 10% of the time in a movie. It would be mostly noticeable in Hollywood Sci-Fi, or Action movies. So when the right movies are played, we can feel a chopper flying from the back and over us. Note: 5.1 Dolby Digital requires 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer to output sound. If we use only 3 speakers, we will not hear audio meant for the remaining 2 speakers. But Atmos is a different technology. It will use whatever number of speakers are available to provide the best sound effect. That's why even TVs come with Dolby Atmos audio although they will fail to make us believe that a chopper flew above us.

I have one doubt, if my av receiver supports Dolby Atmos and my av receiver connected audio speakers are 7.1 configuration ( those speakers are not Dolby certified) then as per this video we didn't get the Dolby Atmos sound effects, rights ? Then if I changed av receiver configuration to 7.1.2 and connected the speakers ( those are not Dolby certified), then let me know will i get Dolby Atmos sound effect from that???
If the avr is 7 channel and it supports Atmos, then you are good. Change the speaker configuration to 5.1.2 inside the avr settings. It's the avr which needs to be Atmos certified. Speakers can be from any brand. Even custom made speakers can be used. Sound quality varies based on the speaker selection, but you can still enjoy Atmos effect. Make sure that the additional speakers are placed correctly.
If you have a 9 channel avr, set it to 5.1.4 configuration rather than 7.1.2. That's what I think would be better than the latter.
Note: AVRs with 7 or more channels support a lot of speaker configurations than we could imagine. Like the 6th and 7th speakers can be positioned on top of front speakers, towards the front of the ceiling, middle of the ceiling, ceiling back, as side speakers, bi amplification to front speakers to get more power from the tower speakers, play sound from a different source, etc.
Which type of AVR would you suggest for this much configuration , 5.1 or the 7.1 irrespective of the brand@@antonyhebin

@@averagestudent4358 7.1 should be the minimum required to enjoy true Atmos effect. To enjoy surround audio from the Dolby Digital / DTS audio which are available in almost all movies, we need to place 5 speakers around us. So 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer should be placed in the conventional positions. Even if we have 7.1 or 9.1 AVR, only this many speakers will output sound in those movies.
We have 2 more channels available here. This can be placed in the ceiling or close to ceiling in down firing position. When Dolby Atmos certified audio is played, these speakers will work with the remaining speakers to give sound effects coming from above, like a helicopter flying above, rain fall, bee buzzing around, etc. Please note that they will be playing sound may be less than 10% of the time in a movie. It would be mostly noticeable in Hollywood Sci-Fi, or Action movies. So when the right movies are played, we can feel a chopper flying from the back and over us.
Note: 5.1 Dolby Digital requires 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer to output sound. If we use only 3 speakers, we will not hear audio meant for the remaining 2 speakers. But Atmos is a different technology. It will use whatever number of speakers are available to provide the best sound effect. That's why even TVs come with Dolby Atmos audio although they will fail to make us believe that a chopper flew above us.
