    Wayne, thank you so much for the MCOR-4 part #. Love your videos. First time golf cart owner with a 2002 club car DS. Your videos are by far the most helpful for a 61 year old cancer survivor with what my wife calls kemo brain, I call CRS (can’t remember shit) Keep the videos coming. Hope your well.

    Hello! What does jumping the 2 wire connector on MCOR do? I have a 2017 club car precedent with intermittent moving issues. It’ll work fine then stop working and work again. Saw other videos of bypassing the MCOR. Wondering if i can do that for a cheap fix.. just fixed a rattling loose brake pedal and a shorted horn. Thanks for the video and help !!!!!

    I have used both, and I will only use the OEM mcor for a customer. Although it costs alot more, it is worth it.
    I tried using the Chinese mcors for awhile, and they would fail in less than a year. Then I had customers that thought I was using "used" parts since they did not last
    And it was a hassle having ho back and replace them with the good ones ( OEM).
    So the only time I will use a cheap Chinese mcor, now, is on my own personal cart.

    Having a club car precedent myself, finding your channel has been great. Thanks for taking time to make these videos.
    Is there a video for testing the MCOR 2 ? I recently picked up my cart from a repair shop after determining the technician was a parts changer that just keep replacing parts until the cart runs again . That’s not my method. Surely there is a way to test resistance on the MCOR to confirm if it is faulty . Thanks

      yes there is a way to check the mcor.
      Do you still have the old mcor?
      im working on a video to show how to check out mcors.

    • @frankking2347
      @frankking2347 4 года назад

      yes I have the original MCOR and today after doing some common sense resistance testing determined the MCOR was not likely my problem . I used the two pin female plug receptacle to determine if the micro switch was activating by turning the potentiometer counter clockwise . I then tested the three pin receptacle for the accelerator function and it also seemed fine by gradually showing a resistance change as the potentiometer was manually turned.
      After reinstalling the MCOR and solenoid that the previous repair shop claimed to be faulty I found they both worked fine. I found my problem to be a bad control module. Luckily I found a used controller for testing purpose at a different golf cart repair shop. I installed the controller and the cart functioned as it should! I’m now faced with the decision of upgrading the motor and controller for added torque since the controller has to be replaced anyway. I’ve been unhappy with the torque when using on gradual to steep grades. This cart was purchased to use as a quiet and comfortable way to move about while hunting , working and joy riding . The hills have always been an issue even when the cart was new. It is lifted with a rear mounted seat and extra long roof to cover the back seat . For lack of a better description the cart kinda has the look of a Bad Boy buggy minus the camo.
      I’m also considering changing the 4-12v battery system to 6-8 volt batteries for better capacity. I’m researching now how to modify the battery compartment to accommodate. Thanks for the reply. If I can locate a phone number I may call you later to discuss any options you may have. This is the first actual breakdown I have had on this cart so I am very happy with its reliability. After learning some about the possible upgrades this looks like a good time to figure out the best recipe to better suit my needs from this cart.

    • @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900
      @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900  4 года назад

      Usually when dealing with motors , you need to make a decision if you want speed or torque. Normally when 1 goes up the other goes down. They do have controllers that have adjustable settings on them so you can switch on the fly. But they are pricey.

    • @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900

      I have been able to fit 6 batteries in a n older 4 battery precedent before.
      I ended up cutting rectangular holes in the front of the battery bucket, so the front 2 batteries would protrude into that dead space between the body and the battery bucket.

    Hi Wayne, do appreciate your video/ sharing, it is fruitful :) Speaking of MCOR4, the reliability is not good (cars start hesitating/ shaking during acceleration), and I am seriously considering putting MCOR2 through a conversion connector. May I learn any suggestion from you? Thank you in advance for your advice!

  • @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900
    @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900  4 года назад +1

    Trompie, your mcor is a mcor 1 and it is mounted under the cart, underneath the pedals.
    The only mcors that are made anymore for your cart, are aftermarket cheap ones.
    You can find them all over the internet for less than 75.00.
    The only other solution is a conversion kit, that costs about 300.00.
    You should be ok for awhile with the aftermarket mcor.

      First , if the batteries are charged, make sure tow switch is in Run, turn key On, put in Forward, and step down on Go pedal, 3 times!
      If it does not Run at this point,
      Then try resetting the OBC.
      Do this by disconnecting Both the main positive and main negative wires, and let it sit for 10 minutes.
      After sitting for 10 minutes, hook the wires back up, then go thru the above sequence i layed out.
      Tell me what happens.

      Also, meanwhile unplug the 2 pin connector from the mcor, then bend a paperclip into a u shape, then push the paperclip into the 2 holes in the loose connector. Leave the connector loose then drive cart to see if that helps.

    My cart doesn’t really shudder, or hesitate. It intermittently just doesn’t go when I depress the pedal. Nothing. So I just press and release until it finally just takes off. Or I can turn the key off and then on, and that seems to get it operating again. Then it operates normally. One round last year it did this multiple times, then worked fine for many rounds. Then did the same thing a few more times the rest of the year. Very intermittent. Your thoughts on what the culprit may be?

    Hello Sir. I have a 2003 Club Car DS IQ model. You are the only guy that seems to know how to get to the root of issues with electric carts. I replaced my batteries. Soliniod speed control is good. . The cart goes and will stop under load. Like going up a hill. Press the pedal again and she goes.rinse and repeat. I took it to a credible shop and they could not fix it. The Mcore has the upgrade. I’m baffled. Any advice for what to look for next? Have you ever encountered this. Your my last hope.

    • @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900
      @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900  2 года назад

      IF your batteries are NEW , not 4 years old, AND you replaced the mcor with a conversion kit, NOT a aftermarket mcor, then that really narrows it down.
      However my first guess is you replaced the mcor with aftermarket crap, and that is your issue.
      They no longer make oem mcors for DS carts, so if you buy a replacement mcor, it will be junk.
      The aftermarket junk wont last longer than a about a year.
      So i think you are gojng to waste alot time going on circles with this.
      If your mcor was good, then i would say either a loose connection, ( on motor, or key switch, etc ) or forward reverse switch needs replacing.

      I noticed from trial and error and research. The linkage from my go pedal to the MCOR is sloppy so I figured I’d just replace it all. I did put a rubber washer between the go pedal arm and the little pin it pushes to turn the arm to the MCOR and it helped speed up the cart. Don’t really like it being jerry rigged. Would rather replace the whole damn thing and have it done right.

  • @lemwert
    @lemwert 5 лет назад +2

    Alan, it is the mcor. Replace it, and it will fix your problem. The hesitation in an mcor, is the 3 wire side of it, the "swiper, or rheostat" part of it. The intermittent stop and go is the 2 wire part of it, that is the microswitch is failing.
    Again replace it, and all should be good.

      Do you know why the Chinese / Mexican MCOR4's go bad so quickly? I took a hot knife, and disassembled one to find out why. The hesitation/bumping/rough riding/etc. is not a mechanical failure and While not necessarily easy to do, this problem is fixable. After taking the flat topside off the MCOR4 carefully, all you need is a small flat blade and paper towel or small piece of rag.

    How can I test to see if my mcor 1 is bad on my 2002 48v DS?

      You should be able to tell when you step on the go pedal.
      Does the car move right away.
      Do you feel any hesitation at any point when pedal is pushed?

      It shudders in forward when I step on the pedal. But in reverse it runs fine when stepping on the pedal.

      Ok. I load tested all six 8 volts and 2 of them showed bad. I’m pricing new ones now. It seems weird that reverse works normal even with 3 people in the cart, but forward barely moves, just shudders and creeps along.

      reverse is half speed, only uses half the voltage

    Trompie. I need to know what model of club car do you have?
    Is it DS or a Precedent?
    Is it an electric cart?
    Please answer, and if you will email me, it will be easier to communicate.
