Perfect video. Thank you, Wayne! Ordered new MCOR from you last week, received it Friday and installed in less than one hour on Sunday. Problem solved! Golf cart is like new again. No more surging and hesitating. Especially appreciate explaining what tools would be needed. Went to the hardware store yesterday and got the needed Torx bits, so I was ready to go when it was time to start the repair. And right on target about those two long screws that hold down the pedal assembly. They are a pain to remove.

Thanks for answering me. When I start using the cart after sitting for a few days it takes 2-3 pedal depressions to make it go (I hear the solenoid click every time) at first. So I would assume that if it is sleeping that once we start using it it would no longer go to sleep? But during the course of playing golf where I am stopping and starting many times over 3-4 hours-it always takes at least 2 depressions to go. If I stop and start within 5seconds-it will go on the 1st depression. But if it sits longer than 10 seconds or so, it always takes 2-3 depressions to go. Once it goes it runs great. The batteries were recently changed so they should be fresh. As I said, I replaced the MCOR and the solenoid with no difference. Someone told me that I might have gotten a bad new MCOR. Is there any other switch associated with the accelerator that would be bad? Or do I need to do something to get it out of the sleep mode? Thanks for any help!!

What you are describing , is exactly what happens when the tow switch has been turned on and off , or if the cart sits for a few days with non use.
The computer goes to sleep, and you have to wake it.
So in either of these situations, that is perfectly normal.
Is this your case? Or not, and you drive every day, and do not flip the tow switch at all?

My mcor was defiantly bad. I could be going along and loose power instantly and then it would work through it. It would do it real bad some days. I bought the new one put it in just as the video showed. Had no problems went for a spin around the block and all of a sudden the dead spot happened again and then it worked through it by letting up on the pedal some.

Ken, it sounds like the microswitch inside the mcor is failing.
When it cuts out on you, and if you do nothing at that point, other than step on the go pedal and it goes again.
I would replace the mcor4, first. That is the most common failure, and not expensive. You can replace it easily yourself.

Hi Wayne, thanks for sharing this video, I didn't even know what an MCOR was until now! I have a 2012 CC Precedent that is dead. If it is a bad MCOR or microswitch, would the solenoid still click? I already changed the Solenoid to no avail, reverse buzzer doesn't even work. Thinking now it has to be the controller or MCOR....

    • @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900
      @waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900  4 года назад

Did the reverse buzzer work before?
Has the cart been sitting for awhile, unused?
Does the solenoid click each time you step on the pedal?
First check today battery pack voltage, to see if you have at least 47 volts. If you do, unhook all the wires from the main positive pack battery and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Then rebook wires up and try to drive ( with tow switch in run ,key on, and cart in drive).
If it doesn't run, turn key off, stomp the go pedal to the floor about 10 times and turn key on and try driving again.
      Let me know what happens??

First I replaced the MCOR and it didn’t help. I thought the solenoid wasn’t clicking all the time so I replaced that and same thing. Once it goes, if you press pedal down within 5 seconds of stopping it will go again on the next pedal push. But if you wait more 7-10 seconds you have to press the pedal twice to go. Any ideas??

Wayne thanks for this - Question: I have a 2005 Club Car 48V. I just did the test where I turn the key on, put the cart in forward and push it. I have no resistance. After doing this, I put it in reverse and all it would do is click every time I steped on the Go pedal. I tried several times in both forward an reverse. When this started bucking yesterday, I thought it was the MCOR, but now I'm not so sure. Would a bad speed sensor cause it not to run at all? Thanks, John

Mr Wayne I have a 06' Club Car DS IQ 48v. This cart started coming to a abrupt stop would beep 3 times. Then would start right back like new. Well it got where it wouldn't do anything no click from solenoid or back up buzzer. So I was testing things and I popped out f/r toggle switch and middle plug is suppose to be power. I ran a wire to middle plug from ground not power of battery and now cart works like new. I even installed new f/r but still needs wire from battery ground. Explain to me what's going on please sir. We will get a good bit of go with it for 30 or so minutes until it starts giving issues and just looses “power”. The gas pedal won’t engage and the cart won’t go. I have to turn it off, wait a few seconds to minutes and then turn it on, sometimes it goes sometimes it doesn’t. When it does it a jerky start. When it doesn’t you can just hear the spring stretching. Sometimes I have to pump the gas pedal several times to get it to go. Batteries are new and have a full charge. V Glide is what I plan to check next. I can’t find one of these black boxes on my cart. Any other thoughts? Thank you!

Definitely sounds like speed sensor, or bad magnet. Your magnet could be broke or cracked. Also, if you bought an after market sensor, that could be your problem.
I use to buy the cheap sensors, and believe it or not, maybe 1 out 4 would work, so i quit buying them.
Check the magnet first. Then i would invest in an oem speed sensor.
When sensor is bad, it will act just as you are saying, it will take off at first, then default to 8 mph.

Ben, i apologize, i answered you a few weeks ago, and thought i sent it, but i cant find it now, sorry.
What you are describing, is the normal sequence that happens when the obc goes to sleep.
What causes the obc to go to sleep, is 1 of 2 things. First, if the cart sits, unused, for a few days, that will put the obc into sleep mode.
Also, if you put tow switch in tow, then when you put back into run, that will take either 2 or 3 stomps to make the cart go.
Are either of these scenarios what you are doing? Or is this happening say, when you drive cart, turn key off, then turn back on and go?

If nothing, start tracing voltage with a tester, make sure wires are tight, check key switch, f/r, etc . Also make sure the obc has not gone into sleep mode.

It does sound like an mcor to me.
It sounds like maybe the micro switch inside the mcor.
How you can check that, is pull up the floor, and unplug the 2 wire connector that plugs into the mcor.
Then bend a paper clip into a "U" and plug the paperclip into the connector
holes of the 2 pin connector, push the clip down into the 2 holes, and leave it like that and drive around like that. See if that helps the issue.

You should not ever have to remove the pedal pads, in order to get the mat out.
On some club cars you can just rotate the mat 90 degrees to get it over the pedals.

@@waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900 in this video you mentioned the torx 40 but not the torx size for the pedal group that’s very long and hard to get out.

At the beginning of the video, I tell you 2 bits both torx. If you get those bits, they will fit your screws.

Gary, as long as your batteries are good, there really is only 3 things can can be bad, they are :
the speed sensor, the mcor, or the controller.
To test the speed sensor, the batteries need to be good, and your reverse buzzer needs to be working.
With tow switch in run position, and the cart in forward, turn the key on. Now try pushing the cart about 8 feet. If the sensor is good, you will feel resistance from the cart, it will try to slow down. AND ALSO you should hear the reverse buzzer start to beep real fast. If this happens, the sensor is good.
    then try the mcor next.

How to put a lithium battery in an 04 club car 48 V

  • @johnduffy3157

    Wayne,
I have a 2015 Club car Precedent 48v with 6 (8v) batteries. One dropped to 6v with a load tester so, I replaced it. The other batteries tested close to 8 volts. The problem I'm having is after charging in which i get a full charge of 49 volts, the cart goes about 30 yards fine, then it comes to almost a complete stop and begins bucking or pulsing and moves very slow and never recovers. The battery light will flash for hours after it does this. I don't want to just replace parts so, can you direct on what device to test and how to test it? I'm thinking it may be the mcor but, I'm not sure.

      Sounds like a battery issue.
If you already found 1 bad battery, o bet you have another one gone bad.
This happens alot. Once 1 goes bad, they may start dropping like Dominos.
I would not install just 1 new battery, the others will draw it down and ruin it.
Get new batteries and your problems should go away.

Ben, if you got an aftermarket mcor, it could be bad. You should always go with oem when buying an mcor.
If you paid less than 100.00 for the mcor, then its an aftermarket one.
There really is only 3 things that could do this, a bad mcor, a controller that is going bad, or the obc going out.
If you were the one who changed the mcor yourself, and you are familiar with how to do it, then there is a test you try to check out the mcor
Unplug the 2 wire connector feeding the mcor, and bend a paper clip and push the clip into the 2 wire connector, then see if the cart still does the same thing.

I just purchased a 96 club car DS. I got a diagnostic at Battery source and they told me my potentiometer was out and they didn’t make them for my cart anymore so they told me I need a pre-mcor to mcor conversion kit. I just paid almost $300 for it. Does anyone know how to do this please.

If you do not have an mcor, and your cart is 48 volts, there is a conversion kit . Takes about 2 to 3 hours to install.
Do you have a vglide or a potentiometer now?
