I have a 1990 Silverado I grew up in. People say, "sell it", I simply answer "no". This is a truck I grew up in and it just holds so many memories and I'm going to get it running fully. On God. I live in Jamaica so there is that challenge but that won't stop me.
You gotta be the luckiest dude alive. I’ve never seen a truck that nice looking go for less then 2k. Those are the easiest to work on and you could easily flip it for big money.
Brings back memories of me and my dad picking up a 71 Camaro or the 67 Chevelle. Projects that we both worked on, and some of the best memories that I can remember. Awesome that you and your son are able to work on this together! Good luck!
Nice ass truck ,,,,that's gonna be a nice project 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿....i have a 1993 Chevy Suburban C1500 that im building and i have a 1994 Chevy dually C3500 extended cab ,,,,the OBS trucks will never die!
Just did the same thing with my grandson only his was free from a guy I work with, I asked him about one day at work for my grandson who's 12 and he said If I wanted to come get it because it was just a bonus vehicle he got when he bought another car he wanted, one of those "IF you want one you have to both" things and he wasn't going to do anything with it because it was too new for him, he doesn't do anything newer than 1980 usually.
My dad just gave me the same exact truck but a long bed! I'm subscribing to see the process I hope to see in detail build so I can kinda follow your lead on mine as I have no idea where to start
@@CoolCarsKJ I don't think it will go fast or at least for awhile down the road I just want it to look cool and would like to lower it just something cool to cruise in man but love the channel and I'm exited for this journey
1988 was the first year for those generation Chevy & GMC fullsize pickups but just on the 2-door cabs like that one there, & fast forward to 1992 the 4-door cab pickups & fullsize SUVs were also redesigned to that body style. 1999 was the last year for that body style on the fullsize SUVs & 1/2 ton pickups although the next generation pickups were introduced which meant 2 different body styles on the 1/2 pickups were being produced in that same year, & 2000 was the last year on the 3/4 ton & 1 ton pickups.
@CoolCarsKJ some one was telling to make a 383 and it will make good power but I'm new to this just want something in the 400-500 hp range that street and reliable
Why polish them up? sand blast the chrome off and and paint them, it's cheaper plus easier to maintain, especially for a teenager, which this will be for, because teenagers generally have no idea what a car wash looks like much less where one is. I just picked up one of these for my grandson who's 12 and that's what were going to do, just going to sandblast them and paint them with some burnt copper wheel paint.

Straight come up🤙
Good buy man
Thank you! It was a hell of a find
Looks. Good. Jump. On it.,, Those trucks are hard to find
Currently looking at a 88 obs trying to get some ideas and knowledge of what I'm getting into
Great platform. They are easy to work on and modify.
@CoolCarsKJ beside Ls what another good engine in your opinion that got good power and doesn't break the bank
Aint no other option or than to keep what came in it, especially if it's a 350. Just roll with it. Most engines Swaps gonna cost a pretty penny.
@CoolCarsKJ some one was telling to make a 383 and it will make good power but I'm new to this just want something in the 400-500 hp range that street and reliable
I have this exact same one
I have a 1990 ext cab with a ls swap but I love the single cab so much I want to find one cheap and swap over everything, am I crazy 😅
Those rims would look nice polished up
