"fun" fact from the wiki: Craven was partially inspired by a news story from the late 1970s, in which two burglars broke into a L.A. home, inadvertently causing the police to discover two children who had been locked away by their parents
The swarming and tearing apart of the abusive parents makes perfect sense, the abused, disfigured, young boys who've lived in the walls and the vents, have witnessed EVERY SINGLE ABUSIVE ACT those monstrous abusers have EVER done! Eyeless, earless, tongueless, they were still witnesses, and they knew justice was DUE.
I laughed so loud at the end, the boys nonchalantly blending into the crowd like they could adapt into society after everything they’ve been through Also there’s no way I could ever be as brave as Fool in a situation like this, I aspire to be him
Omg I have been DYING for someone to react to this movie! I should've known it would be you guys who finally did lol. I haven't watched yet but this seems like the perfect movie for you guys
Honestly, this is personally my favorite Wes Craven film. I love Elm Street, Scream, The Serpent and the Rainbow, but this film has a special place in my heart. Such an underrated fun horror movie with a social & economic message.
This was and remains absolutely one of my favourite movies. I loved it as a teenager, I love it now. It's so completely bonkers, I've rarely seen another movie that can top it. Humour, unexpected twists, and complete late 80s early 90s crazy good fun.
Literally my favorite Wes Craven film followed by New Nightmare. I used to watch this as a child all the time but didn't really understand the deeper meaning behind situations and characters till I was older.
"He had to rob and kill a man as a child!" Damn. I never ever considered that!! Changes the story considerably. Can't wait for the remake! Don't let me down Jordan Peele!
I've always loved this movie! There were so many movies about gang violence and people acting like Black or poor people were responsible for the problems in the world, especially after the riots, when I was a kid I ALWAYS sided with the monsters and the street smart kids! It's still so refreshing to have a horror movie where the creatures in the walls, the thieves and the voiceless mutants, they're the heroes! Attack the Block is a brilliant British Sci-Fi Horror film you'll absolutely love, though you might need subtitles.
I went to school with that kid Brandon Adams he was in a lot of stuff, but this definitely stands out. Also this is based on a true story of a crazy couple hiding adopted kids in their closet walls...
lol... Saw this in theaters, as a very young kid, with other young neighbor hood friends(parents had no idea, nor paid attention to the reviews lol) Loved the movie, as a young kid the tension and fear were released over the funny parts. Such a roller coaster. When Fool was electrocuted by the doornob or when he punched the dog in the face... BUT that chimney scene when "Mother' stands up dishelved and nose filled with ash, etc says the random CACA, the whole row of us kids cracked the hell up over that random line. Then again and again when when it came out and we re-watched it on VHS over and over. lol
More suggestions for you two: Arachnophobia (1990), Death Becomes Her (1992), The Bone Collector (1998), The Faculty (1998), Idle Hands (1999), Sleepy Hollow (1999), Slither (2006), The Ruins (2008)
Lol!!! The reason why the guy had that outfit on so quickly was because “Mommy and Daddy “ were already “ playing “ before they realized someone else was in the house!!🤣😜
Some recommendations: - Sinister - Children of the Corn - Dead Silence - Silver Bullet - The Others Fun fact- Jim Carey starred in a “scary” comedy called Once Bitten. Love the channel!
18:47 where he smashes the bar across his back and breaks it... watch Brandon's reaction... he stops, then carries on with the scene. The actor was genuinely shocked at the bar snapping. He wasn't meant to hit the stuntman as hard as he did. Weird movie though... needs to be watched with tongue firmly in cheek.
I remember seeing this in theatres. It got so dark so fast, and it made quite a few people in the theatre get up and walk out because it made them feel sick or it really offended them. I thought it was amazing! You couldn't help but be in Fool's corner and the "Couple" seemed like the kind of people you'd find in a sadistic version of Leave It to Beaver, if it were mixed with an episode of Double Dare, in Hell. The writers made it so easy to hate those people...
@@NorthPhilly-zr7xc The scene where the "father" (Everett McGill) is picking buckshot out of his teeth at dinner and when he is slicing up the bodies in basement and feeding it to the people under the stairs, you can see his chewing on flesh in that scene.
"Mom" and "Dad" were cast because Wes Craven loved them as a couple on David Lynch's "Twin Peaks".. although in that show their relationship wasnt as.. incestuous. Amazing series btw.. worth checking out.
The WHOLE movie was a metaphor/commentary on President Ronald Reagan's America in the 1980s. You can see it in the narrative and even the main two characters look.
I'm not a horror movie/Wes Craven fan but I loved this movie as a kid and would watch it every time it came on Showtime! Glad it gets some recognition.
This movie is brilliant allegory for gentrification and how the rich hoard all the wealth they'll never spend just os the rick can't get ahead. Hell, "Daddy" was even made up to look like Ronald reagan just to help get the point across. This movie is such an underrated gem and one of Wes Craven's forgotten classics.
ok im gonna give you guys props for this one. everybody is watching the silence of the lambs an other bullshit that doesnt actually qualify as scary or horror.
This movie was a one of a kind experience that us kids watched. So, this was terrifying as a kid and most of your friends parents also didn't let us but someone always had an older sibling that let us watch. I watched this and "Stephen King's Sleepwalkers" at a sleepover.
I recently met the actress who plays the mother in this film, however it was at a indie movie screening in chicago and had no idea who she was, the next day I was on imdb looking at the cast and crew of the film I saw and there she was in the credits, her imdb pic is from people under the stairs, this is in my top 5 horror films.
People are sleeping on this movie! I loved it immediately though. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, you don't know what's going on until the reveal and it really is a unique story. I really hope your reaction gets other people to watch the movie 🤞
This movie is so unintentionally funny to me. I remember dieing laughing when Ving Rhames is laying on the ground with his head in the vent or whatever and it looked like he was dead. Like who does that? 😆 🤣
The kid that played in this movie is Brandon Adams underrated one at that. He also played a role in MJ Bad video and Smooth Criminal Sad Story of his life: He was with Marlin Santana when Marlin was shot and killed Brandon was driving.
Lol..I helped frame Everett McGill's house in Sedona AZ...nicest guy you'd ever want to meet...took the whole crew out for ribs and told us all the Hollywood stories
The people under the stairs tho yes bruh oh this was a trip the girl's so called parents was freaking crazy & my youngin ends up saving her & the people it was a really good movie great reaction y'all like always.
I damn near pissed myself when dude opened the door and told the dog to shut the f*ck up. That guy plays some strange characters. Try Silver Bullet..its so bad it's good.
I've always loved this movie. Fun fact #1: The evil couple Ma & Pa are also a married couple on the show Twin Peaks. Fun Fact #2: "the boy in the wall" was casted on the show Superstore, they had a "very special Halloween episode" (at least for me, an Easter Egg maybe) that ties back to this in a way. 😁 As "the guy in the wall" Sad Fact: this actually happens. Like the Turpin Children. I pray for anyone who grows up in a home so evil
I wish u showed the end. When they walked out. That's my favorite. So funny. Anyway. So glad u reacted to this. Very high on my favorite movie list 🖤🖤🖤

The thing I never understood about this movie is that the cop comes by and is like “well I don’t see anything suspicious” AFTER the walls are repeatedly blasted with a shotgun. First time I saw it I was like “wait wait wait wait…”
"People Under the Stairs" isn't scary - it's disturbing.
Disturbingly good. 🙃
when you say that, I'm reminded of the movie Disturbing Behavior
