been watching these when i need a pick me up - i always leave these thinking about starting up an arcade in my small home town - trust me there is almost nothing to do here for the kids and many of my best memories are being in an arcade in the late late 70's and early 80's --- thank you for making these and giving me the true feeling like we are all your friends, wish you lived on the west coast but sadly you do not -- keep up the great work and keep the vids coming i love them.
I actually like the chipping paint on the switch covers, makes them look more industrial.
I like how you laugh while you talk John! It makes me laugh too! :D
John! I LOVE these extended videos!! They are freakin' AWESOME! I remember when "an hour", was long LOL! Also, I love the history you tell about each game, and especially the game play. The "End of Year Tour", is always one of favorite videos to watch!!
Lol. Yeah. Thanks!
I also finally made it to the end. Thanks for this video John, and thanks for the shoutout, that 3 amibro's sticker got a great spot in the basement !
+etienneodk Thanks, Etienne!! :)
I really hope that you can do a compilation to show us the before/after pics of your restored games so we can more easily appreciate your amazing work. I almost forgot how crappy some of those games once were when you first got them and what you actually did to them...
Great stuff, looking forward to the 2016 projects.
Your Tron game is the best there, have been watching all your videos on youtube, brings back loads of memorys of our local arcade back in the 1980's. We had them all, Tron, 2xPole Position's,2xStar Wars, Tempest,Defender.outrun, space harrier,Pac-land,Mr Do!,Hang-on,2xBuck Rogers,Mach3 lazer disk,Track n Field etc etc.my brother got a job there and ended up being given the Tron machine, could not get it in our house so had to live outside in the garage and suffered in the damp, we still have the game boards and marquee for it, your videos are amazing john, cheers Darren. Cornwall UK.
john i made it to the end of your video and i have to say i love what you do bro:) keep it up i just got into youtube and came across john's arcade and love it i want to start my game room and get some games going right now i have a mame pc trying out a bunch of games i have bin playing games sins i was 3 years old lol im 34 years old and i love all games and am a huge pinball fan but my heart and soul belong to arcade games fighters platform shooters ect anyways man my name isAllan love what your doing and hope to see more of your channel .... with much love and respect Allan Valdez
+frances valdez Thanks, Allan! Good luck with your collection!
I'm half way through this video so far and it's great. I did fall asleep a little but only cause it's so relaxing. I like your vids a lot.
"When you die in Robotron, you feel like its your fault!"
Classic! Love it John.
Recommending this video next time someone has a cross-country flight haha!
Red Robin makes a great burger called the Royal which has egg on it. Sounds a bit odd but is sooooo good. So the egg makes sense to me for Burgertime. The sausage however...jealous?
I can't tell you enough how much your channel gets me through 12 hour graveyard shifts at work lol
Awesome video, John. Looking forward to more great content in 2016.
BTW - This video is 2 minutes and 52 seconds longer that the first Lord of the Rings. Take that Peter Jackson!
Watched the whole video tonight (on a school night with beer!) great video John. Here's to 2016.
Nice! Very retro. Nice Prince poster.
Where's the wife and daughter? you always mention them, but there never is a sign of them ever around, not even hearing them or seeing them in the background of any videos.. That would be cool to see your family..
You don't actually have to heat the kettle up on popcorn popper I have similar popper in my gameroom and if you just put kernels and oil in and then turn the stirrer on it does eventually heat up nicely and pop
Great to see this great video John and it's an awesome work, really every mid 40 people dream and has a game centre at home like you! This could only happen in US and really impossible in Asia, I estimate at least need 3,000 feet or bigger; most important is the passion to chase back the childhood and this heart is really admirable, I can see this through your video tour, full of hope, exciting, passion, happiness and this really shows what a meaningful life should be!
+龍震天 thanks for watching and the nice comments!
New guy to your channel here. I can't believe I actually watched the entire video. But it was very informative and brought back a lot of memories. I was hoping to see a Stargate machine in your collection. That is my all time favorite game. I know you can't own every single arcade games, but is there any particular reason why you don't have that one ?
I didn't watch any of your other videos yet btw. So sorry if the answer is in one of them.
+MusicalBox Stargate rules. Just never got one. Used to have it in my Multi-williams. Tough game!
Thanks for subscribing and watching! :)
Yes, it is a very difficult game. A few days ago I tried the MAME Stargate rom on my computer, but it is unplayable on a keyboard of course.
There's a roach floating inside the pickled eggs jar.
The Out Of Order sign on your Computer Space is the same sign from Wreck-It Ralph. Right?
Pinball is where ita at. You need a game that will be truly challenging to fix.
Great video John
You have such fantastic collection buddy.
Watching you play and talk so passionately about the games makes me want to hang out with you and play games all day .
Hopefully one day I can make the trip to bro fest
Great video mate
man, I love watching your channel! I'm going to start getting into arcades and pinablls. I finally have a house that can accommodate the hobby!
i heard you got a mighty bomb jack board.....
WE HAVE EGGS AND BEETROOT ON OUR BURGERS IN AUSTRALIA, DELICIOUS
Hey John, how does your Burgertime say "FREEPLAY"? Did you install Adams coin up?
I thought you used Final Cut, not Adobe Premiere. I use Adobe Premiere also and I have to agree its a great video editor tool. I also see that all your clips are peaking. I would recommend turning all the clips down to 1.5db to minimize distortion so the whole master would not distort after the final render
totally agree on how Joust have influenced Mario Bros. I never made that link before... THANKS!!
Almost 4 hours! Jesus h! thanks for the dedication John. Your fans appreciate it.
Maybe to make it easier on yourself next year; only do the year end review on what has changed? I mean since this one is so thorough, its a good starting point. Anyway, thanks again.
And the pickled Eggs are about to fall on the ground,,love you john just busting your chops,,but i do think its time to meet the wife and kids on a video @John's Arcade
Tempest , A trick i learn John on how to replace eage connector fast (as long as it solder ).. (if crimp i you have to cut strip each one)... with out reading pin outs just un-solder one wire at time from old eage connector to your new eage connector. this way there no pin-out brain work, you can safely copying each pin one at time, it save lot time to :)
Idea: make the address johnsarcade.com/store go to the cap kits. I would buy other johns arcade branded stuff... Artwork, etc.
Damn John, super intresting video and I want to watch it but where do I find the time to watch this 4 hour video... :P
I remember odd games, sort of late 70's - early 80's:
Sea Wolf
Uni War S
Phoenix
Moon Cresta
Moon Patrol
M - 79
Wizard of Wor
Venture
Stuff like that.
Even in the collectible world they are strange.
Great work, Thank you John!
Tablet had 96% battery at start and ended with 30% hahaha!
I thought Buffett had the best cap kits in the world from a special place from Germany? Plus only $249.95 for k7000 kit, well add $9.95 S&H, sorry no discounts! LMAO
just poking hehe
Hi John, Any comments about the reliability of the 512 in 1 Multicade horizontal cards? Thanks
Hey John, is your Computer Space working? I am wondering if Adam is helping you. When you do, you should discover it with Matt. P.S. I am a 9-year-old kid writing this on my mom's account with permission. And how is Firefox, Quantum, etc. going? Did you get that Firefox Laserdisc Player working?
You worked at Caesarland?!?! You may have worked at the one I went to for one of my birthdays!! I lived in Libertyville for a few years, and Bartlett for another 5 or so. That place was so awesome, no one knows about it where I live in Arizona now. Great vid, John! Thanks for going in-depth! I love hearing you talk about how much time you've invested, I'm sure it feels good to say it :)
aw John you Trojan! Joe saying you look fatigued (havent watched yet) i bet you are mate after starting a second youtube channel, I salute you for your time and effort buddy. I hope Mrs Johns Arcade is not missing out on you too much :D Thankyou so much John I love your channel.
Have you considered adding the "speed-up" hack to Ms. Pac-Man? A few cabinets such as the one I saw on Santa Monica Pier had it. The game plays a lot easier and quicker when the Ms. Pac-Man is on its speed booster.
It's an old video, john. but i love em. you are so "knowledgable" about arcade games. i could listen all day... and i do ;D
Are you planning releasing more videos in the future? i'd love to see new videos...
i made it to the end! 4 parts though, while restoring a sega Rally 1 over 4 days. thanks John, most enjoyable.
Cool! Sega Rally looks fun. Thank for watching.
Hey John, happy new year and happy belated holidays. Nice wide monitor you're using for your video editing.
What size of monitor are you using?
Hey John, fun vid....never miss one. Please hold the paper steady when you hold it up in front of the camera.
Impossible to see it otherwise. Good luck on the new year!
And here I was wondering what the hell i was going to do for the next 4 hrs. Problem solved!
@3:11:37 the wobbly computer monitor, to go with the wobbly table, of course... lol !
I, Robot has filled polygons with no texture. We didn't get textured polygons in an arcade game until Daytona USA.
You had 4 frogger games and took all the best parts from those games to make your game..
So you made a FrankenFrogger
IT'S ALIVE!
Hi John,
i live in japan and i can confirm that eggs are a popular burger topping here.
p.s. incase you were wondering i am originally from boston so your neck of the woods actually and have been in japan for 3 years now.
Great vid, thanks!
BTW, even here in Spain, it is pretty common to have an egg on your burger :D And yeah, that is really nice.
I MADE IT TO THE END! started watching on the 13, mad it all to end today 25...!! Holy crap!
You pronouncing syzygy wrong... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syzygy_(astronomy)
One reason the company was renamed was that ppl. had no clue how to pronounce it :)
There were so many great moments over the year it is hard to pick the best. I would have to say the creation of the button joystick for the one handed guy was one of the nicest things I have ever seen, but I would also have to say your tour of the new Stern Pinball was all kinds of awesome as well. As I told you before, tons of people on Pinside went ape shit over it. There hasn't really been a video that thorough on that factory as yours was. Incredible that George G himself gave you a tour too. That cameo of Steve Richie at the end was just classic. A true pinch yourself moment I bet. Anyway. We love you John and keep up the great show/s and looking forward to having fun at CAX in 2016 and of course Drunkfest/Grinkfest. Thanks again for bringing us arcade guys together and creating new friendships and memories I will always cherish forever. -Mok
Hey John, how do you bring your games into the basement? Do you bring them down the inside stairs?
+darkside1exisle I have outside stairs.
Crazy long video but still entertaining dude, you've got a great arcade man.
Your videos are so entertaining to watch. You seem so dedicated and I suck in all the info you are telling. 😊 I could watch your videos all day long! 😊 I would love to get my hands on one arcade cabinet one day, but prices and availability in Norway is not that good. Cost too much, and I would also need to convince my wife. 😄
+The Game Collector thanks pal!
this arcade is so easy to make a million dollars!! i want you to buy dig dug cabaret, klax cabinet, mappy cabaret, and rally x cabinet
Just finished watching this now. Did it in 3 sittings. Really loved this one John! Your videos are fantastic and inspired me to get into this hobby. You've seen my modest arcade on Twitter I know and hopefully one day I will have space for loads more games as I'm very jealous of your basement :) great to see all of the bits you don't normally show, even the parts storage area! Keep 'em coming, really looking forward to your new material and the Computer Space stuff this coming year :-D
I actually liked seeing your workflow, it's so different to what I use. Which mic are you using?
Sennheiser wireless setup. Great mic.
Thanks
Great vid man! I allotted about 20% of my allowed Verizon wireless data usage for this month to watch it all. (I'm stuck with no other internet options in the boonies.) Here's to more arcade restoration and collecting goodness in 2016!
great year John. Love to see you down south again and waiting for some winter fun. -Darkcat1
Hey John play 5 Mario Bros burger time frogger dragon's lair Tron and donkey Kong jr
Really enjoyable video looking forward to your 2016 Journey! 👍🏻
Watched every minute! Took me two days but I did! Lol. Good stuff, only arcade videos I watch all the way through!
2:03:56 LOVE the music and sound effects on Mad Planets!! Awesome that you have that game!
Whoever shoots these videos TALKS TOO FUCKING LOUD!! :P
John, thanks a lot for all the vids last year, nothing quite like it on RUclips. Particularly liked the Chicago visits. The music you used whilst filming the video of the superdawg man and woman hot dog is the stuff of legend. I've tried to recreate the pickles and fillings of the superdawg at home. It's not just about arcades.......its about food as well. My wife says who are you watching again, who is he? Cheers John, thanks again.
Lol. I love me some food. Too much. :)
Hey John Can I get one of those kill screen cd's?
What a bit of vicarious fun. I'm in the "you can have one pin and one video arcade game club". Watching makes me wish I had: more disposable income, more space in my home, more technical know-how, more time. I can't decide if I should say "you rock" or "you suck." I'm feeling both right now.
+Pete Morrison Thanks! It took a lot of time and work. :)
Speaking of millions of views, do you have a silver play button?
Dang it I missed a coupon for Ian Kellogg by one day! Just my luck
Love to see a 2023 update on what the arcade is like now. Hope you are well.
Holy mackerel...!!! I've made it. I've watched the whole thing - I only stopped to take a piss, to eat, to make sure my cat is safe, and to enter the contest at John's Arcade.
Was this the longest video yet???
+avsiii Amazing! Yes, I think is my longest video to date. :)
Thanks for all the work in putting these videos together. Before the end of this I subscribed.
I am an old school video gamer. I remember when they installed the first Pong in the student union at the University of Minnesota. I would put my quarter up on the deck and wait my turn. Watching your vids brings back a lot of memories.
I restored an EM pinball back in the '80's and I look forward to your getting your pin back in 100% working order.
Just wanted to say. Great video. Took me a few days to get through it all as I couldn't watch four hours straight in one sitting and had to keep coming back to it. So forgot a lot of what I wanted to note or say as I was watching it. But doesn't matter.. it was a fun watch and the year in review is always a great look back on everything and nice way to end a year of episodes so that the next batch can start.
Here is to a great 2016. Can't wait to see what that brings you and the fans here. Great trips, pick ups, games and repair sessions and more.
And oh that popcorn looked soooooo good. Definitely have to make it every time in your year end reviews. Nice tradition.
Thanks for watching. Happy New Year!
Thanks John I stumbled across your channel about a year ago searching for Gorf on youtube.
I am now an avid fan , I doubt I will ever buy a game let alone restore one but your enthusiasm and general nice guy appeal really shines through. Thanks all the way from Wales Uk.
Stone Roses I'm in Wales too!
desde España saludos Jonh's veo todos tus video eres genial , un abrazo fuerte amigo
I made it to the end, John! It took me 3 days of watching off and on, but I watched every minute. Totally worth it. Congrats on a successful 2015, and here's to another great year. Thanks for everything you do. Even though I'm not in the hobby myself (maybe someday), it's awesome to have an insider look at these great relics of my past. Cheers!
Watched it from start to finish, fantastic video, shocked at the length when it started.
u read my email !!!!! that's awesome John. .yes watched every min ( over 2 days) hope too see u guys at cax.... fuk all the haters out there u rock ... piece
Thanks bro. See you in Cali. :)
Brother John. One year anniversary of me first watching your videos now just spent almost straight 4 hours and its was simply amAZZZIng.
I watched it all. Had to take an iPad and an iPhone to watch it all.
Another great year. Thanks for all you do and share with us. I hope to join the club in 2016. I feel like I could do some basic repair & restoration work when the time goes.
John Please Please Please come back and give us an update video !!!!
The one thing that bugs me is hearing all the MMMMM-KAY's. Leave that to South Park please John.
I somehow amazingly watched this entire video
It took me 4 days to watch this in parts and I FINALLY finished. LOL. Great video and Happy New Year John!
Awesome. Thanks pal.
Love all your videos John and these long ones are always my favorite! I really appreciate all the hard work you put into your videos! Keep up the great work
Man I just found your channel and love these videos showing off your games. You got me inspired to get my Asteroids Deluxe cabinet fixed up. It's been messed up for a good number of years now and it's time to get it back up and running.
Love the Tony Hawk boards too. One day a 720 cab would be awesome to own.
+Lord Monkus Congrats on your Asteroids Deluxe! Such a cool game. And, yeah... 720 rules :)
i lov minecraft ps im building a mortal kombat 1
Good lord, four hours - should've had split this and did a part three.
Why do you not tell all of the stories about the games each time, but you always say how to turn the games on? Especially the one about the psycho Q*Bert guy.
+Pacman80 Not sure I follow! :D
+John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech Idont follow either?!?1
SEND ME THE LINK TO THE SPECIAL EFFECTS MUSIC!!!! PLEASE!!
I'm looking forward to the ice cold beer coindoor special!
Please come to the journey in va beach July 1
John, you really need to start sandbagging some videos so that when you release a Sunday video, it really is released on Sunday.
+David Mayo yeah, I know. I need to get ahead of the schedule. I'm just a guy. Not a network. :) I need to take a week off, basically.
The Street Fighter cab boots into Tetris? Haha you need to fix that!
