In this video, John and Gregg form Arcade Impossible are going to visit the Galloping Ghost Arcade in Brookfield, IL in Suburban Chicago. We will take our time and talk about every single game in the place. This is an absolute in-depth review of Galloping Ghosts!
This arcade says it is the largest arcade in the US. They have a ton of games with a heavy emphasis on fighting games and shmups like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter and many of the CAVE shmups.
At the end of the video we will interview the owner of Galloping Ghosts, Doc Mack.

On the subject of Galloping Ghost, I knew that some of your hard core restorers would give the place grief. I think the "hard cores" (you know who you are) need to chill out a bit.
I get why John needs to point out and criticize all of the conversions and non-authentic aspects because the John's Arcade "brand" of arcade journalism is all about collect, restore, preserve. Plus, he was respectful enough to the guy in broaching the topic. Fair enough.
Well, from what audio I could discern, he seems like a nice respectable guy just trying to make a go of it in the arcade scene. I completely get his philosophy. He totally would like to have the games running in their original cabs, but that takes a lot of money and a lot of time. Doing it the way he is, at least he's bringing in money to support the ultimate end goal of getting them restored properly at some point. Also, doing it this way still allows a lot of younger gamers to experience many games that they probably wouldn't otherwise have the chance to play in a cabinet of any kind. So yeah, mad props to Galloping Ghosts! May they live long and prosper, and inspire a whole new generation of gamers! Thanks for sharing John!
In an age where arcades are basically dead, the merit of "this is the wrong box the game plays in" is kinda moot, isn't it?
Disappointed. Title should have said Galloping Ghost cabinet review.
Cool video, that's a great arcade. I don't really mind that most of the stuff is a conversion because they have such a wide variety of stuff to play and it's on freeplay which is awesome. Good video man, cheers.
Loved all 3 of the Videos of the Chicago series John! They're all really spectacular videos. Loved the tour of both arcades with you and the Arcade Impossible crew.
I'm disappointed in everyone that's in the "Aww horrible conversions!" mindset. Can you lower your nose for just a minute and just appreciate what Doc has done in attempting to re-establish an arcade gaming scene?
The lack of original cabinets doesn't bother me at all, except on a few games that are near and dear. Rampage, Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Alien Storm. I'd like to see those in the original form as I remember as a kid. The rest I'd just like to see with the right screen/speaker/control switch pairings. It's weird to think the days of walking into an arcade are never really coming back. I have to admit, I helped kill it- I LOVED my Sega Genesis. I love the Genesis as much as I loved arcades.
Volume ,Volume , Volume ! This guy has a ton of games. They have a space issue, i can see why... That said ,,it is a special place. Its evolved into something insane. I think it could be VERY Awesome!! And I still want to go there soon...Hopefully within the next couple of weeks.. THX for the video ,,Jon your the man!! I see 15,000 subs. in your future!!
nice!!! thanks John, love these videos!!
