Deimos for that huge command center and huge entry bay. Hope Tech feels too cheap. Same for Taiyo. Nova Galactic has a lot of areas that have TV and couch combos. None of the people you can hire are specifically medics or doctors (since there isn’t really a medic skill, just one for med-kits which are self applied) so the role play aspect is out and of course it has no medical function so mechanically it is out. The science lab+workstation combo just makes mores sense from an explorer standpoint, medicine has been streamlined into injections and inhalers for the most part so you don’t need a dedicated infirmary on anything other than a really big ship you are roleplaying as a mini-colony or mini-cruise ship.
There's one, she has Wellness III & Medicine I. Even if she's not specifically a "Doctor" you can act as if she is. I mean in the end, all the Habs are just for RP. EDIT: Rosie Tannehill in Akila City, Hitching Post.

A designer could easily fit a Rack (the suspended 'meh' beds) against one wall and a mix of Bathroom/storage on the opposite wall where you walked through the middle. It wouldn't work if you used that 1x1 as a Ladder room but still.
Coming from your berth video. Yeah Nova is my favorite for these. On the living quarters i try to make the entry front right side, so I keep the bed. My big thing is I like the bathrooms to be there and there seems to be limited options to keeping those. I kind of wish we could flip these habs as needed.
The Taiyo bottom living quarters is probably the brightest lit hab. I use it cause I'm always out of cargo space and have to drop things on the floor. When it's time to pick up something specific, it's easier to find it.
I'm trying to link modules in a way that makes sense, logistics and operational wise. For example engine room connected to reactor/rear thrusters/engines. Certain modules like infirmary would not have ladders. Instead they would be connected laterally to fore/side dockers and landing bays. Control stations to cockpits and in turn to captain's quarters. Unfortunately, the presence of doors will destroy some of the aesthetics.
It creates the need for creative Ship design for sure. My current Ship (the old Star Eagle) is designed that way and I'm 95% happy with the result. Some things are just unavoidable no matter how logically you place Habs together.

make a video where you show how to connect rooms for best layout and how the layout changes perhaps use captains room for astart, after all he is the most needed in the space ship 😊
For a small ship bathroom and beds in a living quarters is fine but if I'm building a larger ship with a crew quarters hab then I want the beds and bath to be there and my living quarters to just be like a living space no beds or bath. But that's just me and my role play. Don't want someone snoring or taking a dump where I'm trying to shoot darts, cook or eat 😂
bethesda should of seperated the beds/sleeping quarters/bathroom to be their own modules from the rec/mess rooms as i think it would work better then crapping the 3 in one. i can understand the rec/dining/kitchen being one, but merging it with the beds and bathroom makes things a bit cramped
I usually love the interior of nova but the bulbous exteriors just ruin them for me. Hard to make ships with clean long lines like I prefer with Deimos and stroud. If I could get a mod that uses interiors of nova on strouds that would be great lol
While I like the Deimos 3x1 living quarters it bugs me that it has so many tables and so few beds. The all in one on the other hand wastes so much space. Its a toss up really.
Normally yes, but I'm so used to my Cargolink Ships landing/taking off every ~2 minutes that I just don't check anymore. It's honestly super annoying. I've also got max T3 Turrets pointed at the only entrance to the compound, 2 fighting Robots and several Crew stationed there so if there was a raid I'd here lots of gunfire.
@@delindsay well you've got a nice compound man.. I haven't gotten anywhere near as extravagant .. mind you I have 9 ships, most of which are Class C and 4 of them with a mass exceeding 5000 which work as my home lol
Depends on how you build your Ship, it's size, layout, etc. A 2x1 Living Quarters can be more than enough for some where others might want more "Recreational" spaces. It all comes down to personal choice.
Not a fan of a system that makes you 'lose' sections to create an entrance. From what I understand you have to spend a lot of time placing and figuring out what is where to even know what you are removing? Anyhow, thanks for the vid...interesting to see.
You're not wrong and it annoyed me so much that's why I started this series, to help others so they don't have to go through the testing process like I did.
I wouldn't mind it if we could choose where the entrance to the hab is without using passages and the possibility of turning habs in the 4 directions of the horizontal axis.
@@Elkarus The "Base builder" in me thinks that all they'd have to do is code it so that we choose which entry point to "turn off" or "turn on" during placement. That would give the game specific locations it could use for doors/ladders. Think red light - green light.
It's kind of odd how some Habs are designed. My guess is there were different 3D Artists/Modelers working on the Habs (maybe on purpose to save time). While I'd desire different looks between the Manufacturers, the one thing I'd want is unison when it comes to how they all utilize interior volume of space, which is at a premium.
There is not, unfortunately. The game installs access points between components where it decides, we players can't control it at all, except by creative use of 1x1 habs. Which obviously is not great. It's a big complaint, and one that hopefully they or mods will address in the future.
@nekoali2 Thanks for the info, I've only got about 20hrs in,and I haven't reached this point in game yet, so I'm taking notes, it'll make it a little tricky to build maybe
I can't stress enough how much I hate the ladders in Starfield ships! I haven't built a full ship from scratch yet, I'll probably do it soon, but I'm going to do my very best to make sure I have no ladders in it.. They really suck!
The easiest way is to use the Nova Cockpit (3-wide, 2-high with stairs) and make it so that you enter the bottom level straight from the landing bay. Then it's just a walk up the stairs in the Cockpit to LvL 2 (most people make that their Captains Quarters) and the rest of the upper level can be services or modules for appearance.
@@zeonos Yea, or some kind of grav tubes that immediately shoot you up to the next level. But I think stairs would be the best because you don't have to break your stride. I really hated the elevators in Cyberpunk, they were so bloody slow!

And I'm DISGUSTED. The way they designed ship interiors is absolute shitshow. As an architect, I was really pissed of seeing living quarters without beds or heads! If this is a roleplay game, it should feel like I'm in a spaceship: the way it looks and it functions. Why no one in team or company decided to hire an architect or an interior designer? Even if they don't do the design, they could tutor the designers and comment on their design while the assets were being created. Also most of those living quarters and infirmaries could've been reduced to almost half of it's volume becacause they have wasted so much precious S P A C E. If you wonder what I'm talking about, I recommend checking some boat and yatch designs and see how every cubic inch of space is being utilized and not wasted. Honestly I couldn't have been any more dissappointent 😌 Sorry again. And thank you for reading all the way down here. Cheers!

I hadn't thought of it from that perspective, good point.
bethesda should of seperated the beds/sleeping quarters/bathroom to be their own modules from the rec/mess rooms as i think it would work better then crapping the 3 in one. i can understand the rec/dining/kitchen being one, but merging it with the beds and bathroom makes things a bit cramped
I usually love the interior of nova but the bulbous exteriors just ruin them for me. Hard to make ships with clean long lines like I prefer with Deimos and stroud. If I could get a mod that uses interiors of nova on strouds that would be great lol
100%.
Hopetech is like a space version of casting couch
Lmao.
The way those chairs face that bed, once you see it you can't unsee it ever again.
🤣@@dustindiamond8864
While I like the Deimos 3x1 living quarters it bugs me that it has so many tables and so few beds. The all in one on the other hand wastes so much space. Its a toss up really.
at around the 2 minute mark, I hear a ship landing on your property... aren't you worried to check who it is?
@@Sams911 Thanks, still in the earli(er) phase of Outpost construction but it's getting there.
I did wonder why my Stroud has no beds. The doorway is there 🤦♂️
It would have to be a 2x1. I’m thinking an all in one berth so it has beds.
And to ask, a preview or a simulation of the ship to see how the interior looks while being inside of the ship editor.
@@Elkarus 100% agree.
There's a fine line between habs being complete ass, or somewhere you'd like to be, and hang out in between missions
That there is.
It's too bad Nova's Staryards is eternally jacked up, they seem to be my favorite..
I like a few things from each manufacturer though
Ill use births for beds and showers i dont think they belong in the living quarters, which i use for the galley and other activities
after all of this all I have to ask is, how on earth did nova galactic go under
Nova for me. And like for channel. 👍
Thank you kindly.
What are your pc specs by chance mainly gpu and cpu
Am I the only one who really want to see trident luxury habs in the future dlc ?
screw the cinematic guy that wanted the hud off.. please turn it back on!
Will do. Unfortunately already uploaded tomorrow's video with it off, so it'll be the next-next video where it's back on. Sorry for the disturbance.
Very... infirmary like.😅 08:23
😁
Some of those tables next to ladders shouldn't be there in the first place.
Is there a way to place units side by side with out a doorway automatically being installed????
There is not, unfortunately. The game installs access points between components where it decides, we players can't control it at all, except by creative use of 1x1 habs. Which obviously is not great. It's a big complaint, and one that hopefully they or mods will address in the future.
@nekoali2 Thanks for the info, I've only got about 20hrs in,and I haven't reached this point in game yet, so I'm taking notes, it'll make it a little tricky to build maybe
@@nekoali2apparently there is a bit more control than you think. If you click on the control point and select attach, that’s where the door gets put.
Agree, i want stairs or fast elevators.
@@delindsay That sounds perfect, I'll almost certainly use that. Thanks!
@@zeonos Yea, or some kind of grav tubes that immediately shoot you up to the next level. But I think stairs would be the best because you don't have to break your stride.
I really hated the elevators in Cyberpunk, they were so bloody slow!
@@JoeBob79569 Speaking of... I kind of wish Phantom Liberty were another 1-3 months away because I'm straight up hooked on Starfield right now but oh damn, I'm foaming at the mouth to jump back into Night City again, and 2.0 to boot.
STROUD-EKLUND GANG WHERE YOU AT!!
Just an FYI .. Things continue to pop in the more you visit and, changing cells (loading doors) after updating... like decorations 😮 👍🏻P.S. Love these videos ..TY
I had been using Deimos for everything because its military lore n I thought living quarters were supposed to be a living room type area until seeing this video 🤦🏾♂️😭🤷🏾♂️
Heh, yeah.
... alright I'm swapping from Stroud to Nova
Heh.
Sarah Jumpscare @ 2:16
Solid bost pack skills 😊 😉 thank you for your service. Wouldn't mind seeing build videos for characters or Outposts or even ships. Would even watch a video on your general thoughts and opinions.
I'll be making a video about what I did with my Star Eagle soon. I've also got a few Ship ideas and even a Challenge build. Lastly, there will likely be quite a few Outpost videos.
I'm now sitting at ~170 hours played and still only Level 35 without finishing the game once. I just can't stop building stuff lol.
Cockpits next?
Dude, great videos but it's pronounced day mos
Hello! I'm sorry in advance about the rant I'll go on in this comment.
I do not own the game, however I was curious of gameplay and designs in game. So I've watched bunch of videos.
Honestly I couldn't have been any more dissappointent 😌
Sorry again. And thank you for reading all the way down here.
Cheers!
You're not wrong at all and I'd wager most of us playing the game have the exact same issues.
All the living quarters in this game are such a letdown. They aren't interesting and are barely useful.
You're not wrong.
