OMG! You have the best tutorials for moves that help improve skating! This is exactly what I need (specifically for one-footed turns). I already know this is going to help so much and can't wait to try it 😊
Hi Katie, You do such a great job of breaking things into increments! I’ve encountered numerous teaching pros in various sports who just don’t get the importance of it. Something I would love to see from you is how to improve on one foot. I continue to struggle with it, and I would love to hear cues about where the weight should be, how to correct for over pronation, etc. please consider!! 😊❤
Hi Katie, just wanted to pop on here and say thank you for these videos. I’m new to skating (not counting the skating rink birthday parties when I was 10 and under) and these videos are so helpful, breaking down the moves with progressions. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into these ❤️ It’s making my skating journey easier and more fun. I love going skaties!!
Hi Skatie. I'm a beginner and desperate to learn so I find your (I've watched others buy you're my favorite haha) videos addicting. My problem is I've been watching your videos randomly (of course I don't skip ads) but I think I need to watch it in the right sequence and I have no idea how to do that like where to start then move on to the next. Any help will do. Thanks.
I got my roller skates last week but, unfortunately i wasn’t in my country so i couldn’t try them out. I have experience in skating… with roller blades so i was used to keep my balance not in front but on the back because that’s where my stopper was and yesterday I went with my parents out to try my roller skates on but i forgot what i did with my safety gear… gotta say, everything was fine until i started to think about balance and i fell and i scared my parents and now my knees hurt👍
Oh wow, thank you so much for the Super Thanks. Our RUclips app doesn’t alert me so I often don’t see them for ages. Thank you so much for supporting the channel, we really appreciate it. xx ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Skatie you are so so good at this! It looks so graceful! I got roller skates for Christmas and I am now good on them. I really love how you explain how to do these tricks! I was wondering, and I don’t know if this is just in ice skating, but can you do an axel?
Yes definitely. It’s incredibly similar. Have you checked out the c step video? I have a few exercises in there to work up to the c step. It’s a tricky one.
@@Skatie Yes, I've watched that video and it's also really helpful! My update is that after working on the scoot I feel my C-step has improved. I'm not there yet, but at least it's given me the confidence to pick up my foot at the end.
Thank you. You need a little slip in your wheels to get the scoot action. You’ll have to lift your wheels more to get the turn. It may make it a little harder.
Thank you for amazing break down of skating… I skate occasionally… getting back into it cause I just love it… my question… how do I determine what size skates I should wear? I bought some cause the site I bought off of said the size shoe I wear… them seem very Roomie.. is that common?
Skate size is so hard. Did you draw around your foot? That’s the most accurate way but even then it’s so much more about whether the skate just generally suits your foot. Trying lots on is always the answer but I know it can be hard if you don’t have a skate shop locally. Some do offer distance fitting.
@@Skatie thank you… no I didn’t draw around my foot. I will now.. where I am at (Texas). Skating isn’t that popular as it used to be… Thank you for your help.
This is so awesome! I'm wondering if every time you say 45 degrees in this video, you actually mean to say 90? I've been a dancer for years, and It seems like you're talking about a 1/4 turn-but referring to it a 45-degree turn? Instead of a 90-degree turn? Later in the video you refer to what seems to be a 1/2 turn as an 180-degree turn, which would make sense. So I guess I'm just wondering if I'm misunderstanding something, or if you just accidentally misspoke? Or have been doing math and basic geometry wrong my entire life? (Please tell me you just misspoke and I'm not losing my mind....😂)
i have an issue -after i skate for a few minutes i feel some strange pain in my soles and heaviness in my ankles and i have to stop. skates fit me well and are comfortable - any advice?
If you’re a new skater it could be that you need to build muscle strength. Maybe an insole would help. Some skates do come with very thin soles and I know lots of skaters who add an extra insole for comfort.
I literally opened RUclips just for this and this video was the first one on my feed. Thank you!
Perfec!!’ 🤩

Great question. If you check out the Fars grades videos that helps show the natural progression of skills.

🤕 If you’ve got experience on roller blades your balance will come quickly on quads. Have fun and try not to scare your parents 😉 😂
@@Skatie thank you ☺️
This is super. I'll be practicing inside my house. When you do it faster it really looks much more advanced. (and a little scary)
Take your time to build up. It is a tricky one.
Great tutorial as always! Thanks SO much for sharing!
Thank you 🤩🤩
You don't even know how I love your videos I am thankful that I found you on ytb😭♥️

Thank you for this breakdown! It's so good, love the use of a chair to start, and all the repetition, it's just what I needed, thank you!
Fantastic! So glad it’s helped 💕⭐️⭐️🤩

Yes! I lot of jumps and spins that are done on the ice also translate to roller skating so yes Axel, flip, toe loop, lutz etc.

Where did you get those dual color laces!?
It’s a little trick of joining two laces together! 😉 I mention it in a future video which will be live next week
Thanks so much!

I’m scared of moving forward than backwards hahaha Thank you for tutorials🥰
You’ll get there. Take your time. Practice, practice, practice. We got this xx ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Will this work indoors wearing soft outdoor wheels?
Thank you. You need a little slip in your wheels to get the scoot action. You’ll have to lift your wheels more to get the turn. It may make it a little harder.

I tried the first bit of backwards manual, I can’t move backwards, just stay in the same place lol. Help pls 😂
Pushing off from a wall can help to get a little speed backwards. I have a few videos on backwards skating they will help.
That was a fab tutorial as per usual, thanks Skatie 😊

My dad finally agreed to let me buy roller skates after months but now the only thing I'm worried Abt is the size :')
Draw around your foot on a piece of paper and measure the length and then use the manufacturers sizing chart to find your size.
4:07 isn't that a 90° turn?
lol. My math isn’t mathing!
@@Skatie I did have a moment watching this where I questioned everything I thought I knew about angles 😄
