    Brilliant. This is me all over. I need to practice weight transfer. Also the moxi beach bunny cushions have more in common with granite than plastic. They are suddenly all flexible.

    The hack about tying laces together is great! I actually already do this because the custom laces I like tend to be on the shorter side :)

    • @GothiQhaQer
      @GothiQhaQer Год назад

      I actually started wrapping the laces around my ankle because I have Chicago skates which have a very tall boot. When laced all the way up my ankle is too stiff to bend my knees comfortably so instead I’ll try lacing back down, hopefully that goes well.

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  Год назад +2

      Ooops. I totally understand. Those Chicago skates are vinyl so can be hard and not mould to your foot. You can lace them slightly looser to give some movement and to make them not dig into your ankle and foot.

    I find it interesting how many "coaches" tell their students to SKIP that lace hole right above the joint of the ankle where the boot curves up. I did this in the beginning of skating because I was new and just listened to any advice coming along (( Not ALL skating advice is wise, can really mess ya up)) and I then wondered why I had some issues while skating. When I started Freestyle Skating I had a coach that nipped that idea of skipping holes in the boot in the bud and said use ALL the holes on the boot, that there is a reason why they are there to support your foot and ankle. I did and it really did make a big difference. Its very important to lace correctly and use all the holes especially if your gonna do jumps. Now that is a really cool idea about use two different color laces. Can jazz up a pair of old beat up skates, I like that !!!!

      Because skating has become so popular recently lots of people are offering lessons and sadly some are only new skaters themselves which can be dangerous. Artistic clubs are a good place to ask about lessons as they have structured classes and many years of experience.

    You know I love my cushions! Be careful you get the right ones so you don't get wheel bite either. I was one to go in the wrong order forward, transition, backwards, but I figured it out when I said oh shit I'm backwards now what 😁😂. I can go backwards but both still don't feel 100% comfortable so I just focus on music and balance transfer. Transitions only drive me up the wall because my weak side scares me to death lol. I get motion sick from swinging so the fact that I even roll without falling over is a miracle 🤣. Thanks for another gem, see you next week 💜

    • @Skatie

      From the picture it looks like the trucks can be loosened by unscrewing the lower nut on the kingpin. I would however just advise to be careful on these skates as they have some known quality issues and have been known to fail under the weight of an adult due to the plastic trucks and plates.

      I'm going to give an example and @Skatie please correct me if I'm wrong. I use a riedell 111 setup it has a thrust nylon plate which I believe they consider technically to be plastic but it's more durable than say a skate gear plate which is what Katie said is a straight up plastic "kids" skate. I weigh about 181lbs / use yellow cushions and while I can feel my plate flex Riedell says it can hold me up. I honestly prefer my vnla parfait aluminum plate as it's very responsive for a beginner and uses the same cushions (*Vnla recommended using powerdyne if theirs are unavailable for purchase)
