@@TannuWannu welcome to the gravity of the worlds greatest military
Haeden,
First and foremost thank you for your service. Second I am an Air Force Vet (1998-2004) who's from Racine, WI (right south from your MKE). I just stumbled upon your channel cause it was recommended given I watch military videos quite a bit. I've bounced around from the upload where you left the day of boot camp. I look forward to a newer upload video about your dad. I also gotta salute you for being a big Elvis fan. In fact my mom was voted by the Racine Journal Times newspaper and was on Fox Channel 6 news as the biggest Elvis fan in SE WI back in the 70's. She's got a scarf from his MKE show he gave her, she also has which is nuts she has locks of his hair from the official Elvis fan club on the 70's and has plenty of autographed items so I was raised on him since I was in the womb. So when you wore the blue suit and did the line about charges I said wow this is refreshing seeing a young Elvis fan who is legitimate. Your videos are professional, informative and any young man or woman coming into the Navy have you to thank as well as Austin Alexander who's videos I've watched for years too. I must say Great Lakes Naval Base holds a special place still because I became addicted to opioids from (2006-2012) to the point where I was at my wits end/rock bottom. I tried called rehabs from st Louis up to green bay all wanting thousands of dollars up front, or they said no beds for 4-6 weeks. To which I told them I don't have that long. Finally after calling around for hours my kids mother said you're a veteran I said well yeah?! Call the veterans crisis line and I literally went omfg duh!! Haha. I called and the operator Tyler who was a Navy vet said we are going to take care of you putting me at ease amidst massive opioid withdrawal. But, he got me into Capt James A Lovell Healthcare Center the next morning as a walk in on October 24, 2012 and I am still a patient there and have been clean ever since. I salute the Navy for being a part in saving my life. I look forward to more videos and have liked and shared some as well. Take care and stay safe out there. Wisconsin especially SE Wisconsin is brought of you sailor!! From one brother to another stay safe, but have fun. Lastly don't forget to try and knock out college while you're in. Even if it's just one class per semester or a few that's the one regret I have.
Wow that's incredible, glad you enjoy the videos and I hope you stay tuned for more, I'll make you proud! The video about my father should be released late march or early april.
@@HaedenBeck young man and fellow Wisconsinite I am already proud of you. For joining the true 1% in the world that being a member of the Armed Forces of these United States of America. Crazy you went to an Air Force base for well what we call tech school and I went to a Navy base for B-school for Signals Intelligence (spook) Operator. It was Corry Station in Pensacola, Florida. I'm not going to lie being from Wisconsin you know it and I know it, it's not like we have long drawn out summers. So I was never a beach guy here, I mean I would go to Bradford for a summer bbq or North Beach in Racine to play volleyball but man when I got to Pensacola and seen that bright white soft sandy beach I became a beach bum. If it was daylight hours and I wasn't at the school house on station I was on that beach hahaha. Are you still in Bahrain? Closest I ever got was lovely Saudi Arabia for 6 months and I know what your talking about when it comes to the heat. I cannot wait to see the levels this channel and your content are going to jump in the future. Before I got into your videos too deeply I could have sworn you were an NCO or junior grade officer with how articulate you spoke as well as mature. One great point you landed on and reiterate this because this was true when I was in. Only share your good/bad news and personal things with a few tight number of friends. No need to letting random or even fringe associates know. Because I'm almost certain if one thing hasn't changed in all these years since I've been out it's that the rumor mill and gossip fly around in the military more than high school it almost seemed. I kept close to myself as well when I was in. Speaking of which in five days it'll be the anniversary day that I went in wayyyyyy back in 3/17/1998. 26 years ago but I remember that day like it was yesterday I swear. Well Haeden take it easy and keep kicking arse out there, ya got one fellow vet and Wisconsinite pulling for you!! On Wisconsin.
@@patrickk.6295 I appreciate the kind words, hopefully you're right about this channel jumping, it's already gone from crawling to walking but we're not running yet. It's definitely an adjustment from Wisconsin to Texas and Bahrain, my first winter ever without any snow in 2022. Take it easy out there.

Young man, you did an OUTSTANDING job conveying your presentation. Bravo Zulu to you. I believe every potential Navy MA prospect should listen to this so they have some great insight and can make an informed decision regarding a career as a Navy Master At Arms.
I retired in 98 as a MAC and attended my MA "C" school in Anniston, Alabama. My class was the last class at this venue before all MAA training was moved to San Antonio. Nevertheless, it too was an intense 10 week course of instruction back in 1985. I converted from SH2 to MA2 in 85. I know a lot has changed since my time, but I hope there are top notch and high quality MA's in the rating just like there was when I was part of the 'elite' force of the MA rate.
Good luck during your career and continue to be the "instructor quality" MAA as you displayed in this video. I'm 72 now, but even so, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this presentation. It brought back a lot of GREAT memories of my time in training and putting all that to work into the 'real' side of the Navy.
I have been in the Tidewater area since 91. I was stationed out of Norfolk (USS G. Washington) and SAMI instructor of two course at Little Creek Amphib Base.
Many Kudos to you.
Thank you, Chief! I'm glad you enjoyed it, I hope to follow in the footsteps of my father and people like you.
I went through this about five months ago. I found A school to be incredibly annoying all the way through, lol. Glad I’m out in the fleet now and not having to deal with Texas shenanigans. Love your videos man, keep up the good work man
100%, it was a lot of fun - outside of the actual classes!
Thank you so much, my daughter heads to San Antonio in 2 weeks and this was very informative.
Glad you liked it!
C school graduation is even more relaxed, they just called our names in a classroom and handed us our certificates. After that, I was hanging around the base a little longer, had a final room inspection to prove I left the room empty and clean, and went home for 7 days.
I couldn't stand it, it felt like I woke up and the navy was just a dream. The 7 days came and went and I got on the plane to Norfolk, which brought me to my first command.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
Is it a good job

25 years ago, I arrived at Lackland from CTR A school, Corry Station. There was no sponsor assigned to me, not even an address. My dad, who went to USAF basic in 1952, gave me rough directions! In any case, my orders were to NSGA Medina; a gate guard looked at my orders and directed me to the MA quarterdeck, where the OOD said that I was indeed at the right place, the "Naval Security Group" confused him. They started barking at me, so I got my seabag and went back to the car, ole boy screaming at me. Finally got him to look a little closer at my orders, at which time he mellowed with a "oh, you're a spook. You're quarterdeck is at Kelly, Security Hill. They put me up in the MA A School barracks that weekend, which was a trip.

Im going to A School next month and im honestly a bit nervous. I spent 6 years in the army and now switched to the navy. Its all so different between branches and thats whats a little bit scary. This video is very informative into what to expect. It sounds fun.
Whatever the army taught you, you pretty much have to delete from your mind because if you start comparing what the army did to what the navy is teaching it'll drive the instructors and other students nuts. Come in with an open mind. You'll do great!
The most informative video I found. Thank you!!
No problem. Any questions feel free to ask!
Great information. I would just say, people don’t “snitch” in the military, they tell the truth so that people are held accountable for not following the rules to the benefit of all hands.
Have you served? People snitch and talk about your personal life. It's like high school all over again in some respects. Sure, you should tell on someone who is doing something dangerous or something outside safety regulations, but that's not what people are talking about, they talk about "hey did you hear that so and so is..."

They should be called the Master at paperwork! Gunnersmates are the Real Masters of Arms!
Well my dad was a GM2 if that makes you happy lol
During the OC course I got really angry 😂 to the point when I was trying to make myself cry and I couldn't. We stayed at the decontamination for 2 hours after the last person was sprayed (Me) because it was alphabetical. After we went back to our barracks...I took a long shower, did a load of laundry and then fell asleep. Woke up to my eyes feeling like I was swimming in chlorine for awhile. Wasn't too bad. By the next day...I felt fine and we did like 4 days of powerpoints for the beginning of unit 3. I graduate tomorrow and then I start NSF LES.

You guys can learn a lot more by learning from the Navy civilian police also. They actually graduate from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in either Georgia or New Mexico. I've been to that academy and I'll tell you they give you a lot more training there than they do in the A school in Texas that you go through. A lot more civilian law enforcement knowledge You can learn from them.
There are a lot of former civilian police personnel teaching at Lackland, from various agencies like city police, the border patrol, DEA, marshals, etc. Some instructors were former marines and air force SFs.
Also the Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation (FLETA) board accredited the U.S. Navy's Master-at-Arms (MA) Apprenticeship or "A" School.
I leave for boot camp April 3rd my job I picked at MEPS Master-At-Arms (MA) kind of nervous about everything
It's only natural. Watch everything else on this channel if you want a bunch of information but really the best thing I can tell you is get through the first 2 weeks and the rest gets a lot easier. After a while you're used to it and after it's all over, part of you will actually miss it!

I just enlisted as a ma I'm not sure which job to get I'm looking forward to k9 but I really wanted to be on the big ship. What jobs are on the ships?
You'll arrive to the ship and get qualified to do things once there. Training teams, line coach (shooting range), bailiff, other stuff. For special things like running the brig there are schools for it.
@@HaedenBeck any workouts you recommend before I go to boot camp haeden?
@@serj5902 It's covered in the getting in shape for boot camp video but I'd say basic exercises like pushups, planks, and running. That's what you're gonna be tested on so that's what it's best to practice for. Just don't injure yourself!
Pro tip:
MAKE SURE SOMEONE RECORDS YOUR ENTIRE OC EXPOSURE!
There may be a day where you want to go into some kind of LEO role after the military, and that paper certificate means fuck all, and you'll have to be exposed again. Same with taser, some people have a bad time getting tased. Get it on video so you won't have to do it in the future.
Video recording is not authorized at the OC course.
The paper document is all you have, and hopefully multiple copies of it. Same as how some have been OC sprayed before, the course was not the same as the US Navy's MA OC course, so despite having been sprayed before they had to be sprayed again.
@HaedenBeck oof rough, yeah any agency I've worked for guys have tried to use that cert and been told it doesn't count. Some have had videos, but I think they were army or reserve.

I’m going to MEPS next week and I have a list of jobs I would like if I’m unable to get the main job I want which is IS and MA is very high on that list.
Just don't forget that if you have your heart set on a job and they say it's not available, you can just give them your phone number or have them go through your recruiter to let you know when it is available.
MA is alright, probably the easiest job in the Navy but also a huge responsibility and the potential for serious danger that you have to run towards and not away from.
@@HaedenBeck I will keep that in mind thank you very much🙏🏾
Whatever you do, don't let the recruiter talk you into a rating you don't want. They're going to try to fulfill the needs of the Navy first. So if you want IS, and they say something such as "there are no open billets for that", tell them goodbye. Soon you'll get a call about one magically opening up.
Any advice on what job should I pick? I'm a non-citizen with a master's degree enlisting (reserve) and will ship out this March. I'm planning to start a PhD degree in August. I'm trying to find a job that will help me when I try to become an officer later, and at the same time is no longer than 12 weeks at A school so I can start the PHD in August without conflicting with A school.
Will MA be a suitable job in the reserve?

K9 was earned not given out one bit.
The actual training process, yes, but for selection for the program that's how it went for my class. When you're the only 2 out of the class who showed up for selection, you both get selected to be trained for K9.
While on deployment in 2017 on my ship, I went tad to security and basically did ur a school in 2 weeks and got oc sprayed at the end. And made us to a course while sprayed, like Mach moves and baton strikes. Stuff like that
That course is no joke, hope you didn't react too bad to the OC.

Hi. My husband is going in MA A-school this coming mid of July. Is there any way I can visit him inside the base? Also is there any hotel inside the base that I can stay in? I’ve heard I’m allowed to enter the base if I bring my dependent id
There's a process to visit the base, yes. It might have changed since I left but you can bring a wife and kids in, sure.
hey, im currently stationed at San diego Drydock at the arco , Im a Undes sailor and im really interested in MA , Is there tests during School ? Like knowledge tests of what you are doing or is it straight just learning about the M9 and M4?
Yes there are tests about law and tactics, policies and procedures, etc. A and C school put together should be about 4 months long if you do one after another.
Did you train with Air Force Security Forces (Air Force MP)? Since their school is at lackland too.
You see them around all the time but there's no required interaction with them.
I was a sheriffs deputy and was sprayed with oc. I still have my certificates from it. My question is if I’ve already done it in civilian law enforcement will I have to do it again at A school
Because the Navy course is probably different than other civilian police and sheriff departments they'll probably want you to do it again. But if it was another federal level agency or military branch they might accept it. One guy got to skip the course because he already passed the course as a Boatswain's Mate and still had the certificate.
How is living arrangements? I’m certain you have roommates during A school, but what about after you graduate?
It changes command to command. You might be alone in a barracks room, or have a roommate. On a ship you're just in the berthing, like boot camp where you find your rack amongst everyone else's and you have little privacy besides the curtain. I will say this, this barracks room is 100x better than the one at Lackland.
Very informative video! But I just have a question as I’m looking forward to being an MA as well and I did some research upon qualifications and specifically ASVAB line scores to qualify. I calculated my own line scores to see if I’ve met the score requirement for MA’s and turned out I’m just a couple points off. I just want to know if there’s still an exception to get the job selected when I head to MEPs.
The score to get MA is really not that high. People with an overall asvab of 40 here are working the same job I am. The actual score I believe was something like WK+AR = 98. That's the word knowledge and arithmetic reasoning scores both adding up to 98.
@@HaedenBeck My WK+AR score equaled to a 91 so it’s very close I just hope I can still get it
Hey bro, fellow Milwaukee native here as well. My question is on the ASVAB. Do you have any advice for that? I take mine next Wednesday and I want to be an MA, speciality NCIS. I look forward to be properly prepared, so any advice would be highly appreciated!
Focus on the math section, it's the hardest and what counts the most. I studied with the RUclips channel Grammar Hero. Very helpful. Secondly, focus on the reading and comprehension part. Everything else will fall into line, especially for MA which really does not require a high score at all. hope it works out for ya.

What happen with your personal cell phone after you arrived at boot camp?
Gets put in a box that you get back at the end of boot camp. During A/C school, covered by this video, you can have your phone the entire time.
I just got oc sprayed and barelyyy passed the course
Hey if you passed that's all that matters. Congrats!
My step dad told me to not use the water after being OC Sprayed because it’ll make it worse. Told me to suck it up. Now honest question though, you saying use the water is that to trick us to get more pain or being legit. When i heard about can go blind kinda dropped my mouth a little bit
I mean it's possible that the OC doesn't hurt, but when you put the water in it activates it and hurts like crazy. Either way, you want the water to get the crystals out.

Not sure what you mean, but upon completion you're officially a federal law enforcement officer. It's pretty up to date, but each command is gonna have slightly different standards once you get there after A school.
Expect respect!
Respect is earned not asked for, at least I believe so.
@@HaedenBeckwhat you wrote should be totally right in a perfect world, not in this freak show we live in.
Truth is that if you wear a uniform respect is imposed by ranks and hierarchy, mostly if you also have a distinctive on it.
And too often in our society we have to manage with ranks and hierarchy also as civilians.
I had a lot of superiors that earned nothing but disrespect when I was in the military, same when I was a student at primary and secondary school, so bad that I had to keep my feelings for me most of the time.
In my country all the worst people have really good chances to reach the higher levels of the social piramyd, and they earn their position by using deception and lies.

How much do MAs get to travel? Would you recommend being an MA like is it a good rate
Sure, you can be stationed some cool places but also some places you'd really never go on your own accord. Yeah you might get Japan, Spain, Italy, etc. but you also might get Bahrain, Guam, Diego Garcia, places some people really do not want. The best bet for traveling is a ship since you'll stop at some cool places every once in a while for the ship to refuel and restock. While other ratings are usually on the ship, MAs spend most of their time on land and actually stay in countries instead of just visit. Every rating has its ups and downs.

Hey do you have any info for a fleet returnee going to MA A school?
If you mean someone becoming an MA from another rating, the experience is pretty much the same as anyone from boot camp with the exception of one thing. If you have an OC cert already, you do the OC course without being sprayed.
If you're an MA already but going to Lackland for C school, that's covered in the video in the second half. The only stuff not covered is the fact that if you're an MA2 or whatever and going back to Texas for C school you may be expected to take a leadership role for the new MAs. I hear returnees are expected to stand watch like anyone else, which wasn't true before. Lastly, being at Lackland was seen by the returnees in my class as a vacation. C school is not hard, A school was way harder.
Best wishes, message back if you want more info.
@@HaedenBeck just talked to one of my friends who went to Lackland for MA A school as a fleet returnee. If you wanted to go into those fields, you had to be in a "source rating", which is one that allows you to go into those fields. And when you completed the training, you kept your original rating, but gain another NEC. So you'd have SEALs, EOD, and divers who were BMs, BTs, MMs, and so on. Now, they're all their own ratings (SEALs are SO, EOD are EOD, and divers are ND).
If MAs can become divers, do they keep their MA rating, or switch to ND?
That's no longer necessary, you can go straight to diver, straight to SEAL, etc. Still, you can go from MA to BUD/S to try to become a SEAL after some time but I'm not sure about Diver off hand.
@@HaedenBeck Yes, I know that. I was curious that if you can be a MA swimmer, can you be a MA diver? Are there any MA functions where diving might be needed? I suppose if there is, they might just call in the NDs.
@@RoguePhysicist I don't think such a thing exists. Divers are a special thing and I am not aware of any of them being MAs.
Can MAs join the MESF
Yes
Why the cammos
What do you mean?
Excellent video! You should be an instructor!!!
Haha thank you!
Did this guy steal Hugh Hefner's cloths?
😉
You use the M9 and not the sig?
Boot camp and A school teach you with the M9 but in the actual job they're using the M18 pistol.
i feel like the m9 is a better pistol because i heard the m18 is prone to accidental discharges@@HaedenBeck
@@jasonbrown5014 I liked the M9 better, especially with the drop holster, but it is what it is.
There is NO such thing as an "accidental discharge", it will ALWAYS be a "negligent discharge", no matter the circumstances. One has to always be focused and aware of ALL safety aspects when it comes to firearms. Know the nomenclature of any weapon you're using and the fundamental workings of any weapon / firearm. Handling firearms is always a serious matter. @@jasonbrown5014
Hopefully none of you have MA2 Moore as your class sponsor lol. That mf likes to scream at you 😂
ID checkers
I do want to ask, does Navy MA's have a Special Reaction Team (SRT) (which is a SWAT Team)component like the Army, Marines, and Air Force MPs do?
Yes, those types of forces exist.
@@HaedenBeck Awesome, what are they called and how do you get into them? Just want to know since I'm going to be enlisting into the Navy as a MA soon🫡
@@boltgamer7 I mean there's different versions of it. I'm qualified to lead a small team like that at this command, but it won't carry over to the next command. Once you get in and become basic Naval Security Forces if you wanna go down a path like that they can lead you down it.
How much shooting do you do? What ranges?
You guys don't get regular weapons training after A and C school?@@HaedenBeck
Do they not give you milk ?? For oc or should you just get that on your own
Milk? You're thinking of tear gas. This is oleoresin capsicum. I don't know if milk would work, would it? But they do give you water.
How does it work if you are married? Are you allowed to see your wife?
Depending on the command you either are allowed to live with her off base or you get separation pay. Either way there are a ton of benefits the navy gives you to support the marriage.
@@HaedenBeck okay I’m assuming the Air Force does the same thing.
lol that oc certificate is on perms relax lol
Nah, someone came here without their physical certificate and they had to be resprayed, and they gave him a bigger dose than they give you in A school.
@@HaedenBeck damn they got his his green ass lol

Great smoking jacket.
If someone leaves something when they leave does that mean it’s up for grabs and if so would I have to send things I had shipped over back?
The room has to be empty during the check-out inspection. Everything is given away and sold before that.
Hi. My husband is going in MA A-school this coming mid of July. Is there any way I can visit him inside the base? Also is there any hotel inside the base that I can stay in? I’ve heard I’m allowed to enter the base if I bring my dependent id
Pls stay loyal
Yes you can visit A school. People had hotels off base.
