    When I enlisted I enlisted for Six years, with a guaranteed C School, after A School I was promoted to E-4.

    You want to strive hard and intentionally for that E4 level, life will become so much easier once you get that. That's why it's so important to get that initial jump to E2 or E3, there's a waiting period after E3 before you can become E4. I would add to all of this very useful information in the video, that it is very important to work on your military appearance - this counts for a whole lot when being evaluated and selected for promotion. Be squared away, look sharper than your peers.

    Nuke is a good way to get E3 before boot camp and auto E4 upon graduation of A School (3 to 6 months after Boot camp).
    There is also the opportunity get auto E5 if you reenlist 2 years after joining.
    It comes with a big bonus too.
    That said, being a Nuke is not for everyone and you don't get to choose what specific job you'll get, i.e MMN, EMN, ETN.
    It's the hardest school academically and a tough job in the fleet.

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  7 месяцев назад +3

      It's crazy how long their A school is, they were just graduating months after I showed up to my first command. The Navy does their best to try to retain those nukes too, since they could just leave and do the same job in the civilian world for much higher pay.

    • @BrockMDol
      @BrockMDol 3 месяца назад

      My brother was a Nuke. Flunked out just before finishing A school (one week left). I scored high enough to get into Nuke as well on the ASVAB. But, I've heard enough horror stories from my brother to know not to pursue that. I'm more interested in going the HM route anyway.

  • @acousticnirvana94

    You can still make E-4 if you're in an ATF rate (advanced technical field). For example IS' can make E-4 just by passing A school and arriving to their first command.
    They don't have to wait 30 months.

    Just want to thank you for 1st your service and a really good no nonsense channel . I'm a son of a sailor who served 22yrs and was in WW2 , Korean War , Cuban Missile Crisis . Now my daughter is getting ready for her ASVAB test in few days . Then MEPS next month . So as a dad , thanks for sound advice . Are you looking at a 20yr career in the Navy or just take 1 4 yr term at a time ? Again thanks for your time.

    just subbed, thanks for taking your time to expound and enumerate on this topic. I am going to join the Navy, always wanted to, but let fear shunt my dreams, now in my mid 30s I will finally serve my country. it isn't all avarice, I am genuinely a patriot of this great, God fearing nation, and I want to show my gratitude and join my brothers in arms. hah, excuse the gravitas. Happy New Year bruh, and b-ch-n threads bro

      Alright well best of luck. Just don't come in with any high expectations of your life being a war movie or something. It's just a job, albeit a more special one. You'll do great! And better late than never, now we don't have to sit in a rocking chair in our 70s wondering how life COULD have been IF we joined.

    I’m not citizen yet so, I couldn’t enlist as an officer even having two masters degree. The enlisting petty officer made me sign a paper in MEPS stating I would not try to become an officer during BMT, regardless being educationally eligible for.
    Im going to get my citizenship during the BMT and talk to a classifier to move up to O rank. However, I don’t know how signing that paper would affect me. Does anyone know? I truly regret signing that.

    Thanks for the video, Is it true that some rates start off at an e4? I was looking at being a CTT but there is a lot of mixed information about rates starting at e4. ( I know its not in bootcamp but usually after A school) I tried looking on navycool for the information but CTT is really limited on the info.

    Does the Navy have the Delayed Entry Program? My son is a junior in HS rn and keeps telling me he wants to join the Navy when he graduates HS. He seems pretty locked in on that decision so just wondering if there’s something he could be studying before if he does join

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  7 месяцев назад +1

      There are resources on this channel explaining what to study before going. Simply said, yes there's a delayed entry program and they offer classes and stuff on what to know before showing up to RTC. I'd highly recommend starting with the rank structure and general orders. If he already knows these things when he shows up, and passes the physical test right off the bat, he'll be promoted in boot camp.

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  Месяц назад +1

      It changed relatively recently. E-4 is a petty officer rate, basically an NCO, it shouldn't be available to someone after only 6 months of training in boot camp and A school like it used to be. Before being a leader someone has to be a great follower and understand what the people they're leading are doing because they've done it themselves for years.

  • @alfjones6377
    @alfjones6377 6 месяцев назад +2

    you automatically become an e4 six months after being an e3?! that is so cool! I hope to graduate Bootcamp as an E2 or E3. nevermind I watched the rest. so one can not become e4 unless they are in the military for 3 years?

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  6 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah it used to be 6 months after E3 you got E4 but now it's 30 months time in service. The reason for the change is that we had too many turbocrows. A friend of mine has been working for 2 years now and isn't an E4 but someone who just set foot on this island IS because she joined at E3. 30 months is more fair for everyone. But I'm glad I got E4 before the change LOL
