    Pretty cool! Brings back memories. I was ship's yeoman during service week, which RTC doesn't have anymore. I don't remember doing a lot paperwork; however, I do remember two of my main duties which were escorting individuals where ever they needed to go, including AIT, yikes! Also, going each morning to the "post office" to get any ship's mail.

    Hey Haeden been watching your vids for a bit. Also joining the navy this year!! Do you have any tips on how to pass the asvab specially for the MA rate??

    • @HaedenBeck

      Focus on the math section, watch Grammar Hero. It's a great channel, a free resource to practice for the ASVAB.

    I’m most likely gonna be a flag holder..that should say enough about myself.

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  2 месяца назад

      Short people are usually picked to be flags, since they are in the front of the formation, and the tallest people are in the back and end up as row guards.

    Great videos man!
    I’m thinking of joining NAVY for SWCC if I don’t get pick, my back ups are GM or MP.
    Any advice on that and also for asvab test ?

      @HaedenBeck  14 дней назад

      Follow your heart for which rating you pick. The Navy calls their MPs MAs but it's the same thing really, military policing. For the ASVAB, watch the Grammar Hero channel on RUclips. Great advice and problem examples for free.

  • @Veishan
    @Veishan 2 месяца назад +2

    If you're already E3 going in, does it really benefit you at all to try for a leadership position? I'm guessing not. My strategy is to get through boot camp with as little BS as possible since I'll be going in as E3 from the jump.

    • @nikoshiesty
      @nikoshiesty 2 месяца назад

      No it doesn’t😭 it just takes away an opportunity for someone else to get promoted which is pretty shitty

      Wondering this as well. Going in at E-3 because of college credits. Leave for boot camp next week

    • @HaedenBeck

      If you're already E3 its better to let someone else have the position so they have the opportunity to be promoted.

    Hey Haeden. Whats the temperature on an aircraft carrier or destroyer?

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  Месяц назад +1

      Depends on where the ship is. If it's a hot climate the ship is gonna be hotter despite A/C but in average or cold climates the ship is gonna be cold and people sometimes use sleeping bags in their racks to sleep. It's not as bad as it sounds, it's fine.

    Is it possible to get promoted to E4 right after boot camp?

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  2 месяца назад +1

      Nope. If you join as an E-3, or any rate, you gotta wait 30 months total time in service to become an E-4. Getting E-4 right out of boot camp would be like being promoted from fry cook to the assistant manager in 2 months.
      It was possible to join as an E-3 and get promoted to E-4 after 6 months between 2020 and 2023 but that was changed. It also was, or *is* possible, to be promoted to E-4 automatically if you're a Nuke or an MA stationed at a PRP command and other examples, but those might have changed since the new navadmin regarding E-4 promotions too.

    When recruits are selected for these leadership roles, do they stay that way for the entirety of bootcamp? Or not all of the recruits in the division get a chance to be one?

    • @Veishan
      @Veishan 2 месяца назад

      RDCs will fire people who can't hold up their end. It's not uncommon for a division to go through 5 or 6 different RCPOs before they find someone with the requisite leadership skills and brains to not make a mess of everything.

      @@Veishan what will be the effect on the recruit fired from the leadership positions? Thank you for answering btw

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  2 месяца назад

      You can get fired for any reason or no reason. Our leadership swapped around a lot but stabilized like halfway through.

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  2 месяца назад

      @@frnc2461 It's not gonna be bad for your career anything but it means you lost one of the chances at being promoted to E-2 or E-3 in boot camp. Still, there's the dep test.

    Jfc second class petty officer is a rank. A rate is MM,BM,CM,CT,CTI,CS,LS,ND,RP, etc. A rating is like MM2,CS1,DC1, etc. How the fuck are you going to make instructional videos and you don't know the difference between rate and rank???????

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  2 месяца назад

      Negative. Only officers have rank. E-1 through E-9 are rates. MM, BM, CT, etc. as you listed are all ratings. You can look it up including in the bluejackets manual if you don't believe me.

      2nd class is a rank. Tell me I'm wrong, we can continue this conversation after

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  2 месяца назад +1

      @@mostlytrue3150 For the army, air force, and marines rank is for all paygrades from E-1 through O-10, but for the navy and coast guard rank only refers to O-1 through O-10 because E-1 through E-9 are all rates. And ratings are your job. That's why on paperwork it says "Rate/Rank" because it's referring to enlisted or officers, what paygrade they are. Yes, in conversation people confuse all of them all the time and I don't bother correcting that because literally everyone says it, but for the purpose of yes an instructional video it's worth getting correct. I have nothing more to say on this matter, I refer you to the bluejackets manual and hundreds of years of naval traditions.

      @HaedenBeck of course it's the navy always have to be just different enough for me to make an ass of myself.
