    I'm very impressed with your bravery in taking on this challenge. Lucky you for having access to Parisian fabric stores. You chose the right dress and veil designs for your body. The lace on your veil worked out wonderfully.

    This is such an interesting series. Thank you for sharing with us. In Australia I found that bridal shops, studios etc would not allow photos of the gowns or wearing the gowns. They did not want copies made of their designs. This concept of someone alongside you in the process is brilliant.

      Thank you, and oh man! That sounds really strict. Even if I wasn't thinking of maybe making my own, I still would have wanted to think about it and get a second opinion. The bridal stylists were even helping me take them so I could compare and contraste and show friends. What a cultural difference!

    Wow, I loved hearing about and seeing your design process - you do such a wonderful job of explaining the way you think about silhouettes and fabrics. The mockups look beautiful and I can't wait to watch the next video to see how sewing the dress turned out!

    What a lovely video and you are so brave to venture into making your own wedding dress! I will be now watching all of the other parts of the process, it's so interesting!
    I wanted a very customiseable dress for my wedding withtwo different skirt lengths for day and evening, and almost had a professional make it. But then kind of at the last minute I decided to try out some dresses at the wedding dress shops just to get the feel for them. And I was mostly trying out the dresses in a fabric/silhouette that I thought I wanted, until the assistant suggested to try a similar dress like the one you show in this video of that beautiful more structured and heavier silk. It was totally different from what I thought I wanted but I just fell in love with it once I tried it. I just had that feeling of "this is my dress", the way that it made me feel confident and beautiful. It was unexpected but I never regretted it.
    Long story, oops. 😂

      I'm so glad you found your dress that way! It's funny that sometimes it takes an exterior eye to suggest the silhouette and style that are ultimately what we want! And I understand for that dress - I still think about the one-shoulder, heavier silk dress, it was a close second!

      @@Sarah_Naomi yes, it looked really beautiful on you as well.
      I learned through that process that I like structured and sculptural clothes and now have several pieces for every day wear in my closet.

    Salut Sarah ! C'est super intéressant de voir le processus d'inspiration pour ta robe de mariée. Je trouve ça génial que tu aies trouvé quelqu'un pour t'accompagner dans la conception de ta robe, c'est une super idée que Camille a eu ! J'aime beaucoup la coupe que tu as choisie :-) J'ai hâte de voir le second épisode !

    What was it like going to bridal shops, trying on dresses when you know you are not going to purchase anything? I would personally feel guilty and not dare to make appointments to try on gowns. Very much want to hear about your take and experience with this.

    • @Sarah_Naomi
      @Sarah_Naomi  Год назад +23

      I felt the same! But in the end, it's similar to other shopping experiences in that you're allowed to browse and be indecisive, and since it's such a big purchase, I didn't feel pressured by the bridal stylists to make a decision on the spot. I also went into the whole process curious to see if there was a dress I'd love and purchase and not feel like I needed to make it myself and change it, and that helped me on a moral, interior level 😊

      At the time that I was looking for a wedding dress for an outdoor ceremony I had not returned to sewing. So I was going to engage someone to make the dress. I felt v guilty for making an appointment with a designer I had found who made the most beautiful bias cut gowns. I tried the gown and to my surprise I disliked the style on me . They had some discontinued samples and after much encouragement I tried on a few. To my surprise I found myself wearing 'my dress' in a colour, and style that I had never envisioned. It needed a few tweaks to fit perfectly. An unexpected win for me which I needed, as a short while afterwards we learned that we had to move 3 days after the wedding - extra expense and a total revision of my craft projects for this wedding.
      o my to my surprise
