    You have some tutorials about socks from the Crazy Sock lady and she has a free pattern the vanilla socks and the respective tutorial. It’s not that difficult. Watch some tutorials and then give it a try. In Ravelry ( a site about knitting and patterns) you will find free patterns that you can download. I like to sew and knit so I like to watch your videos. I'm really intimidated by lining. Do you recommend a particular fabric for lining?

    • @Sarah_Naomi
      @Sarah_Naomi 23 часа назад

      I understand! I usually look for lining made of acetate rather than polyester because it's just as anti-static as a polyester lining, but it doesn't melt under the iron or snag under the needle as easily.

    How do you find the process of ordering/receiving fabric from Minerva, especially re VAT/duty? I’ve been hesitant about ordering (for delivery to France) for fear of being heavily charged.

    • @Sarah_Naomi
      @Sarah_Naomi 3 дня назад

      That is indeed something to take into consideration. Typically, VAT/duty is a fixed processing fee (for me last time it was 2 EUR on the condition of paying via Internet before reception) + 20% of the total value of the order. I hope that helps!

    Hi Sarah! I taught the hey sailor pattern in the early fall. I would definitely recommend charting it. I’m teaching Tursa right now ( another mosaic pattern by the lovely Natasja Hornby) and it is charted and so easy to read. I did put my hey sailor away but will pull it back out after this. It will also work on cool summer days too if you use the knitting for olive in cotton (I am). Also be sure to check out Natasja Hornby’s designs. Her designs remind me of you, elegant and sleek. Andrea’s are more casual, IMO. 😘

    For socks, the main downside I find is that I need to put a lot of pressure on my hands to get the required tight gauge, so it hurts my hands (for a gauge of 40st/10cm). I would for sure recommend the crazy trio needles, they hurt my hands the least from all the needle types

    Like everyone else, I think the pink will look lovely with your complexion! If you're making a skirt, it will be farther removed from your face, so perhaps that will make you feel more comfortable wearing it. Plus, you seem to have several tops that would pair well with that color (I'm partial to pink with grey). Good luck on the coat! It's going to be so beautiful.

    Adding to the praises of your videos. They are among my favourite on RUclips. I have a question about the Helen's Closet Elliot Sweater. Your versions look a lot more fitted that the one's on the pattern website. I really like the fit of yours. Did you size down? Thanks and happy sewing.

    • @Sarah_Naomi
      @Sarah_Naomi 5 дней назад

      Thank you so much! 🥰 For the Elliot sweater, no, I don't size down. I make the size 0-2 and my bust and waist measurements fall squarely within that size range (31.5" & 24.5"). Maybe it's how I style them? It may also be that I've been recently making them in thicker double knit fabrics and so my versions aren't as drapey, or have a stiffer hang than some of the versions in the pattern photos. I hope that helps!

    Lovely plans! Exciting to see how it all evolves. I used to sew when I was in my 20s and now abou 20 years later I have rediscovered sewing clothes to myself again. It is nice to see how you have found patterns which you sew over and over again. I am looking forward to find those favourites too, so it will get easier and quicker 😊 The bookmark and sweater look very beautiful! At the moment I am sewing an 18th century style banyan or wrapping gown of a light blue double gauze. It will be my dressing gown/lounge wear when it gets warmer. It is my first project with double gauze, and it was actually you who inspired me to try that type of fabric!😊 Thank you! I found the banyan instructions here on RUclips, it is very simple to cut and sew. I think you might like the style of it very much. In double gauze it looks and feels very flowy, soft, cosy and elegant at the same time.

    If you think an embroidered tea towel would be unpractical, you could do an embroidered zipper pouch! I did that as a Christmas gift for a friend and she loved it 🙂 currently I'm also working on a long sleeve shirt with a boat neckline but with a fabric from my stash because I need to get some space for new fabrics first 😄 do you know this? Really enjoyed seeing your makes. They are very well done and look fabulous on you! Love the Japanese embroidery! My advice for the socks is to yes, make the wool socks. But try also wearing a moisture-wicking liner layer. It helps to keep your feet warm. Also, keeping your legs and lower legs warm will help keep your feet warm. Same idea for your hands. I have had the same cold hands and feet going on for years and this helped me. Thanks for sharing your videos! Greetings from CT!

I hope the winter season is going well where you are in CT and oh! I miss the blue jays (even if they're naughty), the cardinals, and the robin redbreasts from home! The color for the coat is beautiful! Seems great for winter and spring. The pink corduroy looked good with your skin tone in the video. I think it will make a great mini version of the Ramona skirt. Maybe pairing it with certain colors will mute the brightness a bit if you’re not comfortable with that. But the color also makes it a great choice for winter and spring. Would look great with a brown top in the fall too. All of your plans sound amazing. Happy sewing, knitting, and embroidering! Take care and thanks for sharing 🪡 🧵

      Thank you! The general consensus in the comments seems to agree with you and I think I'll just have to try making and wearing the pink skirt! And you're right, I can always mute or emphasize the color with the garments I pair it with 😊

    They grey, cornflower blue, and the pink look really nice on you. I think you might be a soft summer. These colors are in that palette!

      also wanted to add, if you do find that muted colors look best, you can overdye with Rit Pearl Grey and it works well. I did that on a cotton jersey fabric I ordered that looked muted pink online but arrived as a bright bubblegum. I used a front-loading washing machine and added salt according to the instructions to help set the color, and it was mostly even. It took a couple of cycles to get the color right-- it didn't come out how I wanted on the first try, so I ended up doing it again and adding a little bit of another pink dye shade to the second try. So, quite a process, but it worked out.

      Oh wow, what perseverance! I'm glad that you managed to get the color you wanted in the end and that's a great idea, thank you!

    I thought about signing up for seamwork yesterday but I got very turned off by the false advertising “risk free trial.” There’s actually no trial, they just give you 30 days to ask for a refund. They also auto renew with no notice which I find unethical. So unless those things change, no membership for me 🤷‍♀️

      I respect your position and those are very valid concerns. Thank you for pointing them out.

    I think you will be surprised how nice the skirt will look in the pink corduroy, will definitely suit you!
