Thank you for sharing the reasons you do not care to wear a certain fabric. I have struggled to choose fabrics for projects and I see now that I need to learn more about the types of natural fabrics I want to wear. Based on your experience, I believe I will make some simple tops of various fabrics to learn about how they sew up and how I feel when I wear them. So instructive, thank you!
I hope your pieces find a new home soon! I guess the overall conclusion is that getting the color and fabric that suit you is key to a long-lived wardrobe. I also have a small closet and it is a blessing in disguise. The challenge I find is that as I am aging my coloring and shape are changing, so I thought I had it all figured out but now I am still tweaking it.
Ah yes, I'm starting to suspect that finding one's colors and style is a lifelong journey as we age and our lifestyles and bodies change. It's complex, but it's nice to know that I can adapt my clothes to my body and comfort no matter what life stage I'm in and I'm not obligated to bend to trends and restrictive sizing 😊
Thank you for your kind words and I'm sorry that I can't reply in German. I agree, clothes can carry memories and it can be hard to let them go. I am so sorry that you're experiencing sadness at this time and I'm glad to hear that this video helped you in a small way ❤️
It's crazy how similar we are with body measurements, fiber preferences, and always being cold, and being summer babies! 😅 You're a soft summer, though, and I'm a soft autumn. So close. I love all your beautiful makes, and you're inspiring me to write down all my quirky clothing preferences in order to make better decisions as I create my wardrobe. Thanks for sharing!
would so love a few of these, sadly i do not use insta or vinted but as long as they get a happy home and be loved that is most important, be proud for the beautiful pieces you have made
This video is really helpful for me because I started making some clothes this year for the first time and a couple have turned out well and others I’m realizing are fabric/style mistakes for me. It feels discouraging to spend time and money on these things but your video is helping me accept all of this as the learning process!
I'm so glad this video was helpful for you! I too sometimes feel very discouraged when a project doesn't turn out as I expected (and what I also see sometimes as a "waste" of time and money), but I'm learning to accept the process and to be kinder to myself. I'm glad I'm not alone 😊
Good for you! I am blessed to have a basement, in which I can hang extra clothing. But OH DO I understand how dark colors aren't truly appealing or useful in winter for some of us! My coloring as a light, warm autumn can wear browns and such, but I vastly prefer colors no deeper than camel, often brightened by ivory, etc. Pink is my best friend in winter - it's so happy without being as demanding as red. Good content - thank you. Blessings.
I personally liked the Kew dress best! You should definitely make it in another color that you feel comfortable with :) I have to check that pattern out myself. I like the length and the buttons. I also want to focus more on natural fibers in the future! But first I have to de-stash my current fabrics 😅 I enjoyed listening to your explanations, thank you! Greetings from Germany
Ah yes, I will definitely make the Kew dress again! It's such a lovely design and the fit is spot on for me - it's a pleasure to sew and wear! I highly recommend this pattern 😊
Bonjour Sarah, je pense que tes vêtements seront appréciés par celles concernées par la qualité et le souci du détail! Bonne chance et joyeuses Fêtes! 🎄
I really liked hearing about the different fabrics you used and why you don't care for them. I am trying to get some professional tops made for fall winter. What fabrics do you recommend? I live in a hot climate, so I actually like viscose, but when I made a professional top out of viscose the other day it was wrinkled in a second! I don't care for polyester, but I also can't be a wrinkly mess. Do you have any suggestions?
That can be tricky! Sometimes natural fiber blends can retain breathability and be wrinkle resistant such as linen and viscose blends, but it really depends on the fabric, the quality of the fiber, and the weave - some viscoses are just more prone to wrinkling than others! It's always best to see them and test them out in person at a shop if that's your main priority.
Thanks for the ideas! Yes, finding your what suits you in terms of style and comfort is a journey and it's important to give yourself some grace when something you choose isn't right for you in the end! If all else fails, I'll donate these clothes and hopefully they'll make someone else very happy 😊
Beautiful makes. I agree re wearing natural fibres - polyester might be easy care but it's like wearing a plastic bag! Have you thought about getting your colours done professionally? Re the fit - maybe choose the size for your shoulders then do an SBA rather than fitting for your bust? It's the opposite of my problem - if I choose a size for my bust the shoulders are too big so I need to choose a smaller size and do an FBA.
Yes, I've been thinking of getting my colors done professionally, especially for help picking colors to wear in the fall and winter, but I haven't quite found the right one for me and my budget yet! That's a great tip for the top adjustment as well - I've never tried a bust adjustment like that before and that could be a brilliant solution 😊
Good luck on your sales, hope they draw some attention. You could, however, donate them to organizations that help women in need with job interviews and having the right clothing for the occasion if you can't sell them. I am blanking on the name in English, but hopefully you know what I'm talking about.
Do you mean Dress for Success? Although they don’t seem to be working in France from what I can find on their website. Maybe somebody else knows if there’s a similar organisation in France.
There are certainly many women's refuges in France who would be grateful for the clothes - particularly in a large city like Paris. Many women have to leave with only the clothes they are wearing. Ditto toiletries are also gratefully received.
Why would you make summer dresses for autumn? did you make them for the California weather? Here in Europe, in most countries, those are summer dresses. Good luck selling the ones you don't like.
Haha, good question! The Charlotte dress was indeed for December in California and it was just fine. The other was denial - I always tend to hope that September weather will be at least somewhat sunny and mild and this the turning point and accepting the reality I live in 😂
Your clothes are beautifully made but you have realised that you prefer natural fabrics. Good luck with selling them but you could donate them to a charity. It is quite difficult selling second hand clothes in the UK but it might be different in France.

I'm so glad to hear that these discussions about different fibers are useful for you!

I hope so too! Thank you 😊
I really like your in-depth examination of what you like and do not like about each piece. Very thoughtful.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Good luck with your sale, I hope you recover some of your cost! They are so well-made & beautiful I'm sure others will appreciate them.
Thank you so much!

I don’t feel bad now. I also made a lot of clothes that no longer work for me. You could repurpose the wrap dresses as bathrobes or house dresses.

I can see you in a dusty rose/rosewood, and a very slightly blackened duckegg in autumn
Ohh, those are lovely colors and yes, I think I'd like to experiment with softer autumnal colors like those. Thanks for the inspiration!
Супер гардероб. И на вас все красиво сидит.

@@lilybogaards5089 I think so yeah, but maybe there is something similar in France.

U will have to stick with natural fibres and also invest in fabric for practice runs to deal with any fitting issues.

Thank you and yes, I think I will donate these clothes directly to a charity if they don't sell in the end, that's a great idea 😊
Maybe having a color analysis would help you with choosing fabric colors and save you some money!
I agree! I've been looking into it and have yet to find the right one, but I hope to in the next year 😊
I wish you were 6 feet tall! Ild take them all.
Alas! I'm only 5'5" 😂❤️
Good luck selling them. Personally I prefer natural fabrics and would not buy the polyester ones. But maybe other people will.
Thank you!
