I currently own a Breville and I just purchased a Nama J2. There is a world of difference between the two juicers. For 16 ounces of celery juice, I had to use two bunches of celery; not to mention the pulp would be dripping wet when using the Breville. I used the Nama J2 and I only had to use one bunch of celery to yield the same amount, and the pulp was significantly drier after one use.
Again; they are two completely different kinds of juicers. Comparing a centrifugal to a masticating juicer is like comparing mowing your lawn with a manual mower to a motorized one.
The Nama is a masticating juicer, the Breville a centrifugal juicer. Masticating juicers will ALWAYS extract more juice. You are comparing two different products.
Well... I have a Breville centrifugal juicer and will have to save up to justify the cost of getting another right now like the Nama. Plus the way I look at it, ANY juicer that leads you to a healthier lifestyle is better than a box of HoHo's and a pizza. And as far as heating the juice... how much do you think it heats up in a body before the nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream anyway?? 🤔 Again, froth or whatever is still healthier than NEVER juicing at all.
I am in the market for a juicer. I had a Juiceman many years ago. I make smoothies but want to invest in a good juicer. I have been reading and watching several videos of different juicers. One thing I noticed is that he did not show us the pulp bin of the Breville before he started juicing. How do we know there wasn't water already in the pulp bin to make the Breville look bad? It's obvious he likes the Nama very much and it shows. Your bias is highly obvious. Seems like you are pushing the Nama. And I agree any juice will oxidize. Again, am someone who wants to buy a juicer so I have no biases. For those who already own a Breville why doesn't he let them trade it in at Discount Juicers for a Nama? I think that's a great idea. Also, you talk too much. I just want to hear and see the fair differences of the Juicers. I was surprised to see they both heated up the juice by 3 degrees. Then he downplayed it with the Nama.
Exactly!!! I also have a Breville Juice Fountain.I don't currently have 600.00 to spend on a Nama, even though,I absolutely love it. I agree with you. Having a juicer is better not having a juicer at all. I'm using it until I have the money saved to get the juicer that I want. Better than being on the sofa eating Bon Bons.🤣🤣🤣
Marker 7:30 - this is the most important tip for me when assembling the Nama J2 juicer. I should’ve watched this video before emailing Namawell saying it doesn’t start. BTW they replied pretty fast.
I’ve been following you for years. Opened my own juice bar (PLANT WASTED) in Georgia and you have educated me over the years on all the juicers. Thank you for pumping out the knowledge. :)
I just discovered your videos on RUclips and I really appreciate your thoroughness and attention to detail in your reviews. I just bought a Breville about 2 month ago. I think I'll give it away and get myself a Nama. They 're really not comparable. I had no idea. I just found out about the Nama. Thank you for your review.
Every day a new juicer shows up that is the new "Best one" to have... still rocking my $400 Omega juicer (your #1 recommendation like 12 years ago) and it is great... damn thing is built like a tank and won't break giving me an excuse to buy one of your new "best ones". LOL...
I told my ex-wife that I was buying a juicer and she said, "Don't bother. We already have one that you can take." "We do??," I replied since I don't ever remember seeing us use one. "Yes, We bought it in 2014!" (BTW, she did the same thing three weeks ago when I said that I was buying an ice cream machine. Presto, we had a Cuisinart ice cream maker! And two weeks ago when I was looking at a mixer, what should appear but an unboxed KitchenAid Professional mixer! Geez, I wonder if there are any children that I don't know about?!) The juicer was a Breville Juicer Elite. Finally used it today. I had a bag of organic Gala apples and a humongous Asian pear off of my tree. John was absolutely right: there was a tremendous amount of foam I don't want to undersell the amount of foam that you will obtain. On the positive side of the ledger: (1) Juicing was QUICK! Drop an apple in, push the plunger, and you are ready for the next apple. Which also means that it was VERY EASY; (2) Cleanup was both QUICK and EASY as well. Pull the plug, throw over the armlock, pull out the pieces of apparatus, scrape off the detritus, rinse the piece of apparatus under a spigot, dump the detritus from the capture container, rinse that out as well, and you are done! (3) All parts of the machine were either heavy duty metal or solid plastic. Nothing about this machine was cheap or flimsy. This machine was built to last; (4) the juice tasted fine. Like the cider we used to get from Schutts Cider mill when I was a child. I know that oxygenation destroys Vitamin C which you get from citrus, so I can understand John's reluctance in using the Breville for citrus. I do not know how oxygen affects other vitamins, however. I can also understand how the Breville would not handle green leafy produce: the mechanism employed by the Breville is not conducive to juice extraction from such produce. But like John said, any juicer is better than no juicer. And this Breville is solid and does juice effectively, if not efficiently. Carrots are next.
I bought a Breville juicer because as you said I didn’t know better. Ordered a Nama J2 after watching this using your discount code. The Breville is getting returned to the store. Thanks for the video.
Would love to see you do the same test with Carrots to see the difference between the two types. I wish you had picked the two extremes to show the difference. I have a Breville and I’ve done a lot of Carrots, beet and apples and the pulp isn’t that wet. Thanks for your video though!
As I mentioned in this episode if I juiced carrots, the results would be much closer, and the breville might actually win in yield, but the issue would still be the oxidation done due to the higher speed on the breville, which means lower nutrient quality. Many people juice for healing, and I believe due to the lower nutrition, people may not have the best healing benefits.
Hi John: This video was so helpful! I threw away my Breville yesterday and ordered the JAMA. I have been juicing daily kale, fennel, cucumber apple and ginger -- so delicious but I was using more and more cucumber to get the yield (one quart) and also was watching more and more foam, more veg in the catcher and more sediment in the juice. I knew the Breville was inferior but until I saw this side by side video I was really shocked by just how inferior. I am so excited to try the JAMA with my juice recipe and see and taste the difference. Thank you for your excellent work!
I’m really glad I found your video before I spent the money on the Breville. Just looking at the color difference was enough for me to realize spending the extra money is worth the investment.
The main reason for the color difference is the Nama puts a LOT of pulp in the juice and the Breville is basically pulp free. If he filtered the Nama juice with a fine mesh strainer afterwards, it would probably be the same color and less yield. Some people like pulp and some people don't. It's a preference thing.
I have the nama J2 as well as the omega vsj843, tribest slowstar and the greenstar elite. BY Far the easiest to use not backup and get minimal pulp in the juice is the Nama J2.
I had both the old Acme juicer I bought in 1972. And the old Omega juicer bought in 1973. The juice was great for the time. I only made carrot and apple juice and grape juice. But I remember I felt more energetic. Then I got the juice man juicer.nit sounded much louder by far. Went back to using the omega. Bought a jack la juice tiger in 1989. It only lasted two months. Went back to my Omega. Then I got a Breville juicer. Work pretty good. That was in 2018. Then I got the shine slow juicer in 2022. I love it the most. The juice quality is much better. I want the Sana 747 next.
I am new to this but I have been searching for a juicer for the past 2 weeks! Thanks to your videos reviewing juicers I made up my mind and just ordered the Nama J2! Thanks 🙌🏻
I started out with Breville but it doesn’t work well. Then I got a Phillips micro juicer, which is a decent juicer. Then I got the Green Star but it takes forever to clean and I’m a wimp and not strong enough to use it. Yes, I have issues. 😆 Then, I got the Nama and I’m obsessed with it. Hands down, it’s my favorite juicer and I feel that the cost is fair.
Hope someone can answer my question. I had the same breville and I woukd juice clementines in it and it tasted exactly like clementines. Just got my nama j2 and tried making clemetine juice and it tastes strong, bitter not even close to what clementines taste like. Can someone explain me why? I woukd have thought that nama j2 would have made it taste even better
Did your clementine's contain seeds? If so the breville, will KICK out the seeds and not juice them. Meanwhile, the Nama J2 will crush up the seeds ane extract the bitter compounds of the seeds. The seeds contain high amounts of antioxidants, they can protect the human body from damage caused by free radicals, reduce oxidative stress, improve energy levels and fight symptoms of aging. If this is the case, choose citrus that dont have seeds if you want a sweeter juice. But if you want a juice that can provide you greater health benefits then juice more citrus with seeds!
Hello why not use the pusher thingy that comes with the breville juicer so your hand won’t get sprayed? That’s what it’s for. You should use it so folks see that it comes with it and there is no need to get hand wet
Yes, masticating or cold press juicers WILL clog more, especially when juicing more dense fruits and vegetables than tangerines. I suspect that carrots, beets, green apples, and ginger would need to be cut into small pieces before being added to the Nama and the pressing compartment would need to be cleaned at least once in the process. I have had Hurom cold pressers work that way.
The Original Nama J1 aka Nama 5800 did have issues with the juicer clogging. I did not recommend (and still do not recommend the Nama J1) due to this reason. Nama took 3 years to design the Nama J2, and the clogging issue was solved for the most part. I can only remember one time I clogged the Nama J2 when I was juicing something that I shouldn't have. If you follow the instructions that come with the Nama J2 on how to use it, I doubt it will clog.
The problem is that different types of produce require different methods of extraction to get the highest nutrition. In general, IMO vacuum juicing will achieve the most nutritious juice. ruclips.net/video/CSyS8QJfMNs/видео.html
Breville has discontinued their slow juicers from what I can tell. I have many other videos comparing the same style juicers, please check my other videos.
Why is it so expensive compared to a metal KitchenAid mixer? They are made of cheap plastics (blades), and the price is not right. We are supposed to drink plastic juice?
Im looking for juicer. Hats off u r quite thorough with temp checks, weight check etc. however u shuld juiced other fruits and vege for a BALANCED comparison. And also run the pulp from the j2 into the breville. I would have been sold on the review then. I agree the breville and centrifugal types give out a lot of foam. Im going to watch ur other video. Im lookin for a juice output like CLEAR apple juice or pineapple juice from a juice without the thickness. Any recommendations is appreciated?
If you want the clearest juice, then you want to get the Pure juicer or Use Vacuum Blending, they provide the most clear juice. See ruclips.net/video/eEPQ8tuPQV4/видео.html where I demonstrate both these style juicers against each other. Slow juicers will make a more "thick" juice.
You didnt do other fruits, ginger, beetroot. I agree and see this demonstration but for people whom can only afford a certain bracket are better to purchase what they can than not have a juicer for better health over all. As their still remains some nutrients with overall feeling of wellness and even wieghtloss for some
This comparison is kinda ridiculous lol … 200 dollar centrifugal vs 550 dollar masticating slow juicer. Also .. the Breville you are using only has one speed. If you would have used the 400 dollar “ cold fountainXL “ with a variable speed selector for soft / medium and hard fruits and veggies you would have much different results. The XL produces very dry pulp and you can hardly squeeze any juice out of it. Not saying it’s better than the Nama but a much better comparison to then weigh out the pro’s and con’s of each. If you have the option I feel it’s best to have both. Better juice From the Nama and much quicker set up /juice time /clean up with the Breville. 🤷🏻♂️
Dude what you have at your left side is a blender going wrong. You put the veggies in January then comeback in November juice will be done lol. I’ll stick to the Breville.
which is the best juicer for new zealand market. im thinking about this is it a good option or is there better? OPTIMUM H3000 2nd Gen - COLD PRESS BIG MOUTH JUICER
you are right john,, i bought breville cold press xl, big nistake, this machine has design flaw, you can never completely clean the unit due to the wrong sdesign, btw, there are at least 2 oz juoce sitting in the bottom of the basket, you have to remove everything to empty it, shame on Breviile, you can see how clever they are!
"Only the uneducated people who don't watch my videos would buy this Breville" ---> me sinking down in my seat in shame lol. I returned my Breville and bought that Nama J2 after watching this video :P
Well I still use my Breville XL and it does a great job. Of course the Nama J2 has better functionalities. Like you don't have to stand there and press all day. But if you compared it to the Nama J1 then that would have been a better comparison.

@@karinaherrera6716 i bought the omega vsj843qs i seen a lot of great reviews on it. I might still buy the j2. Wish i could sew a comparison between the two.
@@PhatBoyiee the only thing I've had a little trouble with really is Mango and pineapple I have to really pack it or put a couple pieces of carrots when it just wants to keep sloshing around in their but other than that it still gets the pulp alot dryer than my sisters Breville so I think it's worth it juice taste great my kids even drunk the Juice Mixes we make for them I'm not sure if he has compared that one or not but I know he has made several comparisons videos maybe check out his channel page
it looked amazing until i saw the price. definitely not worth the price difference. literally i could buy easily 2 for the price of one. it would take me years to make for it. not worth it fr sure.
If you want to consume the nutrients from a whole bag of carrots for example, putting them in a blender would make a smoothie larger than most people could/would drink. You also couldn’t absorb those nutrients as quickly because the insoluble fiber would slow down the absorption. Smoothies have their own unique benefits, but so does juicing. Juicing is the best way to flood the body with massive amounts of nutrients at once while providing a lot of hydration. Smoothies make a convenient and healthy meal.
There are pros and cons to each juicing and blending. I recommending doing the one that will benefit you most. In the case of tangerines, I personally would rather blend them to keep the all fiber, but in the case of carrots, I would rather remove some of the fiber (removes insoluble) and keeping the soluble fiber (about 50%) so I get better absorption of the nutrients in the carrot juice and I am able to get more nutrient absorption Here is a video where I go into further detail ruclips.net/video/-Sdz_6ym2E4/видео.html
What a horrible machine the Breville is. Even when comparing to my old European centrifugal juicer, mine does a much better job. I personally have the Kuvings slow juicer and am really happy with it.
Yes, but the money you spend/waste on the Breville could go towards a better juicer like the Nama J2. Think of it as a discount, if you want, on a better juicer investment.
@@truthinentertainment1028 an example of breville juicer bought second hand. juiced 80kg of apples for cider. No problem. What more can i expect for 1/2 retail?

Excellent video. I’m so glad I came across your videos and will be sharing this one. Thank you so much. So appreciate this video.
Hi I'm looking for the best overall juicer that gets the most nutrients. I juice everything.
The problem is that different types of produce require different methods of extraction to get the highest nutrition. In general, IMO vacuum juicing will achieve the most nutritious juice.

Tribest Twin Gear models, but the cleanup takes some time
Why not compare the same type of juicer? Breville makes one that squeezes the juice out but you take the lesser of the two and make a comparison
Breville has discontinued their slow juicers from what I can tell. I have many other videos comparing the same style juicers, please check my other videos.
I would get the juice weasel!! Love your videos!!
Why is it so expensive compared to a metal KitchenAid mixer? They are made of cheap plastics (blades), and the price is not right. We are supposed to drink plastic juice?
Every nutritional test shows no loss of nutrition in the heating up process of centrifugal juicing.
As their still remains some nutrients with overall feeling of wellness and even wieghtloss for some
Thank you John, I appreciate you. I got a discount on my Nama J2.
THANK YOU!
Hey, where you been?
I used to watch your product videos alot, ever since your dehydrator videos.
which is the best juicer for new zealand market. im thinking about this is it a good option or is there better? OPTIMUM H3000 2nd Gen - COLD PRESS BIG MOUTH JUICER
you are right john,, i bought breville cold press xl, big nistake, this machine has design flaw, you can never completely clean the unit due to the wrong sdesign, btw, there are at least 2 oz juoce sitting in the bottom of the basket, you have to remove everything to empty it, shame on Breviile, you can see how clever they are!
I have a Breville and want the Nama now...😊
But the price of Breville Juicer vs nama j2 is $99 vs $550. What $ you pay what you get.
What happens if you can’t afford either of them is there another option?
I'm still mad I purchased the Breville even though I got it on sale. Just purchased the Nama J2.
Nice comparison. Can you compare Breville The Big Squeeze Slow juicer next time. Thanks for the video.
Best ad video
Great video! Also, with the cost of produce these days, using a Breville is a waste of money.
Thanks
What Breville model are you using?
the Juice Fountain Cold BJE30 was used in this episode.
Yeah my breville is nothing like that. My pulp is nice and dry.
I prefer Breville. I have some tricks to deal with foam.
First 2 minutes! That’s all I needed to know lol, going with Nama
It's what happened @25:45 for me
Love my Breville!
I love breville
I love ❤️my Breville no offense 😊
Love the long videos.
what about the new breville xl Pro? vs the kuvings auto 10 or nama
600$ bucks for a juicer no way Jose lol
God I am so thirsty for orange juice right now.
"Only the uneducated people who don't watch my videos would buy this Breville" ---> me sinking down in my seat in shame lol. I returned my Breville and bought that Nama J2 after watching this video :P
how is the nama j2?
Well I still use my Breville XL and it does a great job. Of course the Nama J2 has better functionalities. Like you don't have to stand there and press all day. But if you compared it to the Nama J1 then that would have been a better comparison.
I had just four oranges and a plastic bump.
How come you never show how easy they are to clean?
Because they are so hard to clean. I want to buy one but clean it. Probably suck
So the Nama will pay for itself in 2 months or sooner for a everyday juicer! 🤔
Ughhh I just brought mines at Macys 🙄 Gonna return it
Waiting for the new Kuvings Vacuum blender

WOW amazing difference
Has anyone ever just purchased the Nama chamber set and put it on the breville?
that wont work. Nama J2 parts will only work on the Nama J2.
Can you do video of juicing citrus fruit in vsj omega
why didn't you compare the breville with the Nama J1 which u have to feed also. It's a more fair comparison. Nama will probably still be better, but you're like comparing apples vs orange.
I have plenty of Breville juicer videos compared to manual juicers. See www.youtube.com/@rawfoods/search?query=breville
Can you make a video juicing pure oranges in the nama j2?
I did make a video comparing the pure and nama j2 juicing straight pineapple see: ruclips.net/video/r9Bmb85ycOQ/видео.html
OK, but why not just juice the pulp again in the Breville?
you could do that and get a little more, but the breville would basically just kick out more wet pulp.
@@discountjuicers thanks!
How well does the nama perform when using ginger, tumeric and other harder vegetables?
I juice carrots, ginger,& tumeric all the time it's great
@@karinaherrera6716 i bought the omega vsj843qs i seen a lot of great reviews on it.
I also juice beets, carrots, ginger, turmeric, pineapple and have no problems. It’s my favorite juicer and I have 4 different juicers.
it looked amazing until i saw the price. definitely not worth the price difference. literally i could buy easily 2 for the price of one. it would take me years to make for it. not worth it fr sure.
You saved my money
thanks
Yes I have no reference point lol 😂😂😂
Best type of juicer for Mango juice?
A blender.
How does this Jay to do with greens?
the Nama J2 juices greens great. See ruclips.net/video/xjIO-geOlAU/видео.html
El nama j2 sirve para negocio o solo para uso doméstico ?
The Nama J2 is made for HOME use. Commercial use will void the warranty.
Mine is amazing
great video
Why not use a blender ? Wouldn't you get more fiber and nutrients than a juicer ?
If you want to consume the nutrients from a whole bag of carrots for example, putting them in a blender would make a smoothie larger than most people could/would drink. You also couldn’t absorb those nutrients as quickly because the insoluble fiber would slow down the absorption. Smoothies have their own unique benefits, but so does juicing. Juicing is the best way to flood the body with massive amounts of nutrients at once while providing a lot of hydration. Smoothies make a convenient and healthy meal.
@@mollytrap makes sense, thanks 😊
There are pros and cons to each juicing and blending. I recommending doing the one that will benefit you most. In the case of tangerines, I personally would rather blend them to keep the all fiber, but in the case of carrots, I would rather remove some of the fiber (removes insoluble) and keeping the soluble fiber (about 50%) so I get better absorption of the nutrients in the carrot juice and I am able to get more nutrient absorption Here is a video where I go into further detail ruclips.net/video/-Sdz_6ym2E4/видео.html
Yo…it’s the little struggle bang. Lawd why? I’m distracted!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ok…moving on…I have the Breville.
I bet this guy has a Breville too.
What a horrible machine the Breville is. Even when comparing to my old European centrifugal juicer, mine does a much better job. I personally have the Kuvings slow juicer and am really happy with it.
The Breville is pretty awesome.
My Breville is pretty awesome as well and the pulp is nice and dry too.
26:20 you are so funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The slow one is clearly the winner. I don't get why people want to waste money on the loser one
This video is so juicy 🍊
What you don't mention is the Brevilles can be found by the truckload second hand very cheaply
@Dime Maybe because he makes his living selling new juicers. Apple juice quality sucks in all centrifugal juicers.
You know in all honesty it still taste the same, so what there's foam, oranges that have been juiced still taste the same, Nama J2 John you could have read a whole chapter by the time you juiced your oranges, and that was only half of them. When you got work in the morning, you don't have time to wait for your orange juice. Unless you arise a hour early, in todays world we want our juice now, not after the 10 o clock news and chapter 5. I Love Breville lol.... get a life and just drink you're juice.
