Thanks for sharing. I was about to try it his way, but in fact, this seems easier and it does the same thing. It’s like double straining.😊 thanks for sharing
John is the #1 juicing expert in the world at this point. You have saved me from buying nutbags as I probably wouldn't have went through the trouble. If I had 1000 accounts, I would give you a 1000s likes! Thank you!
2 questions. Since i have a vitamix and do not have the vacuum blender, does it still benefit of blending and then putting it through the juicer. Also making it this way, do i still need to use the nutmilk bag?
@@higherheightsmelaninmagic2772 yes that's why the vitamix does not really juice well because it does not get rid of all the pulp and you still have to strain it. So imo it's obvious it'll be same for nuts.
Thank you so much, John! This is massively eye opening!! I will definitely blend the nuts and water before juicing in my Nama J2. I used to do the nut milk bag method, then I got a Nutramilk machine, which I do love. But now I will try this way. I don't have a vacuum blender, so hopefully the regular old Vitamix blender will be ok for this, but I will certainly blend before making the milk in my J2! ~Evan
This is something the Nutramilk cannot process. So, for soaked/peeled almonds use Johns vacuum blender/J2 method. This is by far the highest quality almond milk made and great for those with digestive issues.
I would take the almond nut butter first extracted from the J2 and mix it with a few cookie ingredients such as raisins, coconut or carob/chocolate chips plus date paste, then form into cookie patties and dehydrate.
Handblender may be even better. You can try it with a bananasmoothie one in the j2 and one by handblender (immersing the blades only above the liquid/smoothie). Let them both sit a while and see the colour difference. :) Love

Once again another health video worth watching! I learn something new every time I watch these videos..Thank you John for all your time and passion putting these videos together
If you add a pinch of salt to the nutmilk, it actually tastes like milk. Even better, I have to say. You can use any kind of nuts for nutmilk, but with almonds it may taste best. Hazelnut-milk tastes almost as good for me. It may come down to personal taste buds which nuts are best.
From a health and nutrition perspective, I believe walnut milk is the best as they are the only nut which naturally contain Omega 3. I’m about to make it for the first time today. I have to admit I prefer the taste of soy and oat milk but I know oat milk in particularly poor as it’s just starch water.
You are right. I tried the milking nuts like the first example you gave. There still was a lot of nutrition left in the pulp. I did the 2nd example you gave, and the pulp was whiter. I also believe the 2nd method will help with extending the life of the Nama Juicer. I didn't know this video existed. I was very glad to see this video, knowing now for sure I was correct, and I won't hurt my Nama. The Nama is a great juicer. Thanks for sharing.
Yep I purchased my Omega juicer way back when and it’s still going strong. I have learned alot from you when I use to watch your channel. Not just about juicing but about gardening as well. I actually wondered if you still were active on RUclips and if you were still in the business. It was a very pleasant surprise when this video popped up in my feed 🎉😀.
Hello John, I see you do not answer the questions in the comments... but I still have a question, let's see if you answer mine. What are the benefits of vacuum-sealing the blander? Can I just use a regular blender for this part of the process? - NEVER MIND you answer my question in the video but... what if I just have a regular blander and a regular juicer.... I do not have the money or space to buy more appliances? What do you recommend? Will I really not be getting the benefits of the almonds if I dont have a vacuum sealing lid?
We do because that is what we have - Vitamix and the Nama J2. After we are finished with the Nama J2, we pass through another 2 cups or so of warm filtered water (we use homemade distilled water) with the spout lid closed, and run it for a bit, then drain, and then we get another 2 cups of weak almond milk we use to add to oatmeal to cook in. Almonds are expensive so we "milk" every bit of what we can get. We also add to our almond milk a pinch of salt, vanilla extract, and some Erythritol/Monk Fruit mixture, or Stevia, to taste. Also, there is supposedly a vacuum seal lid for the Vitamix, which we don't have yet.
Yummy! Hey John, what about running the nut "butter" through the J2 once more? Would that give a creamier milk? I don't have the counter space for a bunch of kitchen tools. Anyhow, cool video! 🎉
Just discovered this channel. I've been making nut milk by processing the nuts in the blender, then pouring the liquid into my ancient acme juicer, basket lined with a strip of towel paper. The pulp is dry and firm. I use the pulp in baked goods.
I don't have a good blender but I have a grain mill. I'm going to try grinding my grain first then using the J2 after. This should have the save effect as this method don't you think??
I purchased a Nutramilk machine from you and absolutely love it!!! Nut milk on tap in minutes. Plus it makes beautiful nut butters and nut flour! Somebody said to use the right tool for the job...good advice! Where do you get those cool glass carafes with the handles?
The Nutramilk is "the next level" for making nut milks for sure. These glass carafes are from IKEA. That being said, they are quite fragile, and I have broken several since the glass is thin.
I'm waiting on my j2 and it should be here in a couple days. I have a crazy question. Could you run the almond pulp back through the j2 a second time with the nut milk? Would this extract more of the nut goodness? 😊
The Nutramilk is just soo easy to use and clean; just drop all the parts into our dishwasher. Great nut milk and easy to adjust the strength that suits you. The almond butter is great also.
The best way would be to vacuum blend in a whole vanilla bean into the FINISHED almond milk you make. This way you get the maximum vanilla flavor. For less strong vanilla flavor, you could vaccum blend vanilla bean with soaked almonds and water before you put it thru the Nama J2 Juicer (or nut milk bag)
Hi John, I made Almond Milk last night using this technique and it was amazing. Thank You. QUESTION: If I want to make coconut milk would I use this same technique. Great and very informative video. The blended first nuts definitely looked to produce the driest pulp and best milk. Could you do this with other nuts like cashews, pecans, etc? What can we do with our extracted pulp from nuts and fruits and veges? I always feel like Im being wasteful when I throw it away. Thanks. Love your videos and bought the J2 using your code after watching you.

I finally got around to trying this. The first (manufacturer) method isn't bad, but there is a noticeable grit. The second method produces a silky smooth milk, but it takes FOREVER for the J2 to process it. I don't understand why it is so much slower than processing the whole almonds.
I've always had a thing about the word "spoonfuls" since the plural word should be "spoons" and there is no such thing as "fuls" so I changed it to "spoonsful" instead, not bothering with "fuls" which should be "fulls". Would love to hear from someone who wants to change the word to "spoonsfull".
This would be so great to make horchata and not have to strain. Just clean up later. Also - making pistachio nut milk to make into a coffee syrup would be so dreamy.
I use the NUTRAMILK that I purchased from you for absolutely the best nut flours, nut butters and nut milks. It is awesome that the milks just pour right from the tap! I have tried many machines and the NUTRAMILK is my favorite… WHY ARENT YOU USING THAT BLENDER since it was designed for that?
I just got my Nama juicer and used your coupon code, thank you very much for that. I have a vitamin blender and l followed your instructions by first soaking then blending in the vitamin and then poured the almond milk solution into the juicer but some went right through so l stopped pouring, opened the spout and let out what was there and then turned the juicer on and slowly continued pouring. In your video you dumped the entire contents into the juicer and nothing came out of the spout till after you turned it on. Do you have any idea what l might of done wrong. The almond milk is fantastic l do have a bit of sediment in the bottom probably from the first time l opened it prior to starting it. Thank you for any suggestions you might have for me.
Hi John, Great alternate technique! Especially when I don't want to use a nutmilk bag. I'll be Vacuum Blending & using my new Sana 727 just purchased from you. Beneficial info as always. Thanks! 🥳
Since you are into sharing the best ideas I was wondering if this process of blending first would be a good idea for leafy greens as well like tender herbs and baby spinach with just enough water? also why hasn't a juice press been an option for any style juicer? I'm thinking a reciprocating mini press that will intercept pulp as its shooting out or just a stand by press that adds a step to the final outcome. not my job but yours to make it happen.
Hey John, do you recommend a Blendtec blender w/ motor base for people who either have the Void vacuum lid or want to get the Void vacuum lid? I was thinking perhaps the Designer 650 might be the best option based on what I've seen so far. Mainly, I'm just trying to avoid the BPA of the Void blender carafe and I also want to get a really good motor base to go with the BPA free Blendtec jar. Thanks.
Honestly, I would find a cheap refurb blendtec motor base and save money. While the designer is more "powerful". I have not seen a difference myself in the actual blended mixture. The only exception may be if you are blending super thick mixtures, the designer may be better.
I learn another way of you doing it and really like that. I saw you make the nut milk in the vitamix then transfer it to the NamaJ2. Without spooning it in that method is the best And milk was so smoothie while the pulp was so dry thanks a bunch. I hate waiting for the nut to soak.
I would always pre-blend nuts before putting thru a juicer, since no juicer can grind (and extract nutrients) as well as a blender especially if its under vacuum.
I used the pre blend method with the Kuvings Revo830 and it took about 15 minutes as the juicing screw just got clogged up - maybe my mistake was not blending the almonds for long enough or having enough water

Very interesting. I have a question about producing large quantities of nut/seed milk....specifically pumpkin seed milk. I'm looking into ways of easily processing around 4kg of pumpkin seeds at a time. When soaked it'll obviously be nearly double that. I've tried a few different methods. I've Used a muslin cloth, but that's such a laborious way of doing it for such a huge amount of product. I've even bought a soy milk pulp separator from China, but it doesn't work well with pumpkin seeds. I then tried blending the seeds first and putting it through the machine, but too much pulp leaked into the milk. I've also tried lining a cider press with muslin cloth and pouring the blended mixture in to press the liquid out. It worked until the the pressure became so great that pulp started squirting out the sides. My question is, do you know if there are any large juicers that can deal with this volume of seeds and pulp, extracting as much protein and fat as possible and extracting as much liquid as possible from the pulp? TIA.
Could it work with the void system blender and then putting it through a kuvings nje horizontal cold press juicer? I’m looking to get a vacuum blender but I don’t have the Nama.
I now feel I am good with my blender ,instead of the whole nut milk maker i wish someone just invents a machin which can only squeeze the milk and wastes apart out of the blended liquid effectively..thanx for the vedio
Use a blendtec with the twister jar. Make nut butter. Then I add about 3tbs to about a Mason jar worth of water. Salt, vanilla, viola. You can strain if you want but I don't care about the pulp.
I would not dirty two appliances to make almond milk, use a filter and bowl. I use sheer curtain material for filter bags, make my own nut milk bags, or just use a big square of it then toss it. Of course, wash it first! Would like to Norwalk press it!
I've been making nut milks with the original Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer from 2015 and I definitely run the pulp through until practically no pulp comes out anymore. Whatever pulp is left can be used to make cookies or muffins or dehydrated and then ground into flour.
I came across this recently. After blending the nuts I usually add pieces of coconut meat to help push things through. Recently I had some pulp from a previous run that I had saved, and added that to the mixture as well and everything went through extremely fast and came out with a nice amount of nut milk. I did not do it this time but I would recommend saving the pulp if you’re not already using it for something else to run through the next batch. don’t need 20 pounds but at least one or two batches worth would work very well.
I purchased the Nama J2 and the cb1000 vac blender on your discount and so far I like them both .. I tried your method here using oat groat blending first and then J2 but it would not go through the juicer FYI
The nutramilk makes nut milk even MORE creamy and rich, and extracts more than the Vac Blender + Nama J2. That being said, I prefer the VAC blend + Nama J2 method, myself due to less oxidation of the nuts. Of course, the Nutramilk does not produce as much waste. Every method has its own set of pros and cons!
What's up John? I was just wondering could the blender first technique be used with a horizontal juicer like The SoloStar4? If so, could you do a video on it. Not just the SoloStar4, but any horizontal slow juicer. Great video my friend! Peace
Depends how you mean superior. I honestly prefer vacuum blending water + nuts and using Alexa's bag. The nutramik will make a more "thick" milk with more fiber than the Nama J2 will make with blending water + nuts and putting them thru, and the most watery is just ladling water + nuts thru the juicer as most do.
Hey John can you use this same process but with a horizontal greenstar juicer? Or is it not recommend on a horizontal to blend the nuts with water first?
I use this same method with my Vitamix and my Omega horizontal juicer and it works. You just have to be careful to pour the blended nut and water mixture very slowly into the horizontal juicer so that it doesn’t overload the juicer chute during the process. That being said, I have just ordered the Nama J2 and will be using that in the future instead of my horizontal juicer.
always love your tutorials ! im going to try cashew milk in the morning, cant wait. I see the blendtech didnt you used to sell blendtech ?, now with the new lid maybe you can again ?
I did sell blendtec in the past, but the ownership changed. At this point, I am choosing to only sell vacuum blenders, and blendtec does not make one, although you could buy a blendted and also the void-systems lid that I used in this episode to turn a blendtec blender into a vacuum blender.
Ok about cashews...since it doesnt have a skin like almonds i ended up getting a cashew cream consistency from the pulp side and cashew milk from the juice side (did the blender first as in your video). I just blended the two together and got a nice milk but i think id nut milk bag it after the blender and save this technique for skinned nuts.

@@lizzy062073when you soak almonds the skins almost separate from the insides and you can just squeeze the almond and the insides come out.

What if I have a regular vitamix with no vacuum? Is it still better to blend first? Is the O2 harmful?
Is this a slow juicer or juice extractor?

Yes. I would dehyrate the pulp and then mix it with other ingredients and form it into bars that can be dehydrated or baked to harden.
How can we use a vanilla stick to add natural vanilla flavor to it so it will taste like the processed vanilla almond milks found in stores?

I've always had a thing about the word "spoonfuls" since the plural word should be "spoons" and there is no such thing as "fuls" so I changed it to "spoonsful" instead, not bothering with "fuls" which should be "fulls". Would love to hear from someone who wants to change the word to "spoonsfull".
Oxidative damage? Water has oxygen right?
John how can i make almond, pumpkin, oatmeal milk?
Does the blender have to be one that takes the air out
What about if you have a vitamix? Can you get a vacuum extractor for it??
Can I use a regular blender like Vitamix instead of vaccum blender?
This would be so great to make horchata and not have to strain. Just clean up later. Also - making pistachio nut milk to make into a coffee syrup would be so dreamy.
Where did you get the glass 1 quart pitchers used in this demonstration? The tall ones not the anchor and hocking ones
Thank you for any suggestions you might have for me.
any Ideas for snack bars from the dry pulp?
Hi John, Great alternate technique! Especially when I don't want to use a nutmilk bag. I'll be Vacuum Blending & using my new Sana 727 just purchased from you. Beneficial info as always. Thanks! 🥳
Thank you for this new video of nut milk,I got my machine from your page last October thank you for your info.
If you don't have a fancy vacuum seal blender thing, would you still recommend blending in a regular blender (I have a Ninja) before too?
Since you are into sharing the best ideas I was wondering if this process of blending first would be a good idea for leafy greens as well like tender herbs and baby spinach with just enough water? also why hasn't a juice press been an option for any style juicer? I'm thinking a reciprocating mini press that will intercept pulp as its shooting out or just a stand by press that adds a step to the final outcome. not my job but yours to make it happen.
You usually don't add water when juicing veggies/fruits...only nuts so probably not a good idea as it would be watered down juice.
Can you use this technique but use a greestar elite juicer? Or is blending not a good idea for horizontal juicers
I speed up the process by soaking the almonds in boiling hot water. The wait time is much shorter.
You could probably shine a light thru the measuring cups & we'd see the difference in thickness.
Should still blend if I got the Greenstar Juicer?
I would always pre-blend nuts before putting thru a juicer, since no juicer can grind (and extract nutrients) as well as a blender especially if its under vacuum.
I used the pre blend method with the Kuvings Revo830 and it took about 15 minutes as the juicing screw just got clogged up - maybe my mistake was not blending the almonds for long enough or having enough water
Hi John love your videos… What about oats milk with the mama J2.
Hello John is there a way I can order directly from you ?
YES. Buy the Nama J2 Directly from John (NUTMILK55 coupon does not apply) to get the best level of service at www.discountjuicers.com/namaj2black.html or www.discountjuicers.com/namaj2white.html
John, would you recommend this process over using a Nutramilk appliance?
Honestly, I recommend using a vacuum blender and alexas nut milk bag over either the nutramilk or the vac blender + nama. See ruclips.net/video/MsosFdiXV74/видео.html
Can I use my blender and omega juicer to do this?
Could you have put the non-blended pulp and milk back to try and extract more of the nutrients? My Vitamix doesn’t have a vacuum sealer lid.
What else can do this besides the nama j2
Hi John, what do you think about the Almond cow machine? Can you make a video on using the almond cow vs the Nama j2?
I am not a fan of the almond cow, personally. See ruclips.net/video/8OJrsVx9NNs/видео.html where I share my thoughts.
I purchased the Nama J2 and the cb1000 vac blender on your discount and so far I like them both .. I tried your method here using oat groat blending first and then J2 but it would not go through the juicer FYI
It is important to keep some texture in the blended mixture, or it will not go thru the Nama J2.
How does the almond milk produced by this method compare to that produced by the Nutrimilk? Thanks for the video, John.
Using the nutmilk bag, I think, is probably a little bit more efficient than using the juicer as well as time saving.
Do they make a vacuum lid for the vitamix?
Void Systems does make a lid/carafe for the vitamix base, but the older ones, not the newer chip self-detect ones
Hey John...
Do you have this available for the Vitamix
You can purchase the void systems kit that fit all classic vitamix models at: bit.ly/voidvacuum You can apply coupon code DJ25 for a $25 discount.
What's up John? I was just wondering could the blender first technique be used with a horizontal juicer like The SoloStar4? If so, could you do a video on it. Not just the SoloStar4, but any horizontal slow juicer. Great video my friend! Peace
With the Nama j2 you said 2 cups water, but it looked like 3 cups. With the blender you said 3 cups water. Is it 3 cups for both ways ?
I didn't get the nuts to water ratio🤔
Is it 2 cups nuts to 2 cups water
Or 3 cups nuts to 2 cups water?
Is the nutmilk from the nutramilk machine superior to both of these methods?
@@discountjuicers ok got it what ever i buy ill do through you, youve always had great advice, videos and support 🙏
