If Machs name is on an album I’m playing it. Thank you for talking about this record, especially being bold enough to call out the sexism/bigotry in rappers lyrics. I’d love to see my favorite rappers be able to change habits and expand their vocabulary to avoid slurs. Literally no point in using slurs when using a less common word is such a higher showing of skill.
also the chimay blue scheme is "fed the sugar baby yeast and she squeeze out a favor" because you need to feed yeast sugar to make dough and then knead/squeeze it to get bread/pastry. And then "cracked the oven took a peep and your quiche got deflated" plays into that because you fuck up the the dish if you are impatient with the bread/crust getting set to support the filling.
You gonna listen to the new R.A.P. Ferreira album coming out tonight? I still think you should listen to some of his older stuff. Maybe start with So The Flies Don't Come and the rest of his Milo stuff, then listen to the scallops hotel stuff. Also Purple Moonlight Pages, you shoulda listened to that before Bob's Son tbh and it drives me crazy that you still haven't.
Thanks for your thoughtful reviews Skye. I found that bell hooks line to be weird as well but I think hip hop's relationship with her is(or should be) complex. I'm thinking in particular of the Ghais Guevara album where he also name dropped her in a funny way that was actually a reference to her problematic renderings of Black men in her theory. Her claims that the Central Park Five were engaged in a "suicidal enanctment of a dangerous masculinity" and her claims that the Black revolutionary icon George Jackson and his comrades were through their rebellion "expressing allegiance to imperialist white supremacist capitalist patriarchy" are two particular examples of positions of hers that have generated criticism. More generally, her engagement with and use of "subculture of violence" theories which pathologize Black men is also problematic. I still think her work is interesting and useful but I thought you might appreciate this context. You should also check out Sylvia Wynter and Joy James for the class you teach!
39:36 Mach said “ I told my wisdom(girlfriend) we should run the triz Nathan on the system” triz Nathan was the EP Mach n sadhu gold dropped earlier this year
A Triz Nathan* and a Triz Nathan/ Triz Nate is slang for running a train on a girl. It’s a Big Pun reference which is where it originated from. That was also a fire ass EP
Great review as always! I hope you get a chance to listen to the Sadhu Gold X Spook album NSFW (Meme Magic) even if you don't review it. Obviously great production and Spook is an alien
To anyone who reads this, I wanna recommend yous check out the artist Obijuan. He’s a rapper from The Bahamas who has a great focus on Bahamian history in his music. I think If you like Mach, you’ll like Obi. I’d start with his album SLANG CASINO from this year if you’re gonna check him out. Have a blessed day if you read this.
I think this is one of your best videos though actually this isn't that abnormally good, I guess I just always like your videos. But I like this one an extra amount
14:23 that bar is exemplifying how you (the opps) can eat up the youth like animals (scapegoats for whatever situation a double cross may be needed) while he's gonna raise hell (or that he's paying homage to his fallen peoples that it invigorates him to come with ferocity to anything he does.)

@@Jimmy1982Playlists Right I respect that homie. That's part of what makes him so unique but don't want anyone to think I'm disrespecting it for it being last. That's not my intention. I love them all and wish I could put them all at the top 🥷✌

The bell hooks line on this album, and the F slur on the boldy/craven album were such downers for me. I was reminded of your Roc Marci review, I think you were talking about the fentanyl lines where you spoke about when you partake in hip hop you dont really get to pick and choose what you get, its kind of an all or nothing ingestion. But really, Mach is way better than this lol.
Thry do it because they're not supposed to do it. They don't give a shit what anybody thinks. People been complaining since his early projects, it ain't gunna change. Dump Gawds
Way better than what? He's not above Drugs, Sex and Murder but he is above a Bell Hooks joke? Rap fans are so weird. A lot of of us Black Men that know better don't rock with her or what she represents.
@@KingAuthor83 OK, then you and the black men you are speaking for need to get it together. Let me guess, you feel like your masculinity is being threatened? LOL. There is something called nuance. You took that bell hooks shit way too hard, I ain't mad at it, but damn son. Says more about you that you had to cape that hard over it. It's a jokeish bar, that has roots of truth in it. It ain't that serious. And you're right with everything you said...but mach just doesn't care, and will not change. Accept the guy, flaws that you perceive and all.

These dump gawd projects with fahim seem to be more like WSG as he currates and puts people on to fahim. Because he knows he has more fans than fahim, so he makes them all get used to fah. Plus they just have a great chemistry. Plus, you need to learn to enjoy ANY art your favorite artist gives you. Not everything is a masterpiece. Sometimes you collab and dumb your style down a bit to let your collaborator shine
This drives me up the wall about today's society. Boldy James could be talking about sex, drugs and murder wildin out, however the "F slur" is where someone would draw the line? The Bell Hooks line was funny as hell and true LOL. In all seriousness maybe you aren't in tune with the issues Black Men have had with the Feminist movement and more specifically "Black Feminist" movements up until today. A good place to start would be reading "The Man Not" by Dr. Tommy Curry. If we're going to have critiques, of what can be deemed as offensive, we should be more across the board wit it.
Like you, I was always more into Mach than Fahim... but the new Fahim project with Jay NiCe, _bloodspiller,_ is really amazing! May be my favorite from the Dump Gawds so far in 2022. the “fed a sugar baby yezus” line might mean giving his sugar baby, a girl he probably buys things for for sex, some ye which can refer to coke (i think a shortened version of yayo)
I enjoyed the flute track a lot "Muhamad Hommy"
