- PART 1
This is how you make the best out of your physical therapy internship. Some call it volunteer hours or some are working as an aide.
I go over, what to look out for when observing physical therapy, what questions to ask, how to maximize your time in the clinic, and more!
This video was answering:
"What is the most important part about a PT internship?
Such as.. patient interactions, the exercises, stretches..
How can I make the most out of my time?
especially because it’s unpaid. "
I talk about 3 things you should look out for.
a. The flow of the physical evaluation/follow up
(MUST WATCH: The Physical Therapy Exam • Physical Therapy Evalu... )
b. The focus of the objective section
c. What's happening in the treatment
I talk about a & b in PART 1, but if you want to tune in for part c, you're going to have to watch PART 2

Thanks for the video, it made me realize I’m asking too much questions... a good self check thanks
No you're not! Ask as many questions as needed! these videos are resources, but feel free to check them out as well as ask follow up questions
Thanks! I am a SPTAid and so glad I found your channel.
Thank you for the information
You’re welcome!
Thank you so much for this!
This might be a stupid question but I've been using an ipad for notetaking for the last couple years, do you think using one at an outpatient clinic would be innaproprate?
Hey what are some basic knowledge that I need to know before I go in for the first ever observation (before getting into the PT program) and some basic medical terms and vocabulary that I need to know?
Hey great question! If you watch this playlist, you can learn most of what to expect when you’re working as an aide. You’ll learn everything else on the spot ruclips.net/p/PLdxUIDTaI7pyb77xywKm3CUDGdOofK0zL
That eye deficit 😂😂
Peter Justin Taguinod 🤣🤣🤣
Very useful but can be shortened for at least 2 mins
Hi! I was wondering if observation hours done in a different country will be able to count towards the hours needed for applying to PT schools?
You would definitely have to contact the PT schools you are going to apply to, and see if they accept them
When do you usually observe physical therapists? I am currently a freshman in college and would like to know when I could shadow real physical therapist to learn more about my career.
HangTime you can go RIGHT NOW! Well actually it might be hard since COVID, but once it gets more established, you can start right away. Just call your local PT clinics and ask if they’re taking volunteers or hiring aides
Oh I thought this was for an internship not when you're an aide/volunteer. I'm a PT student looking for tips during clinical internships. Not volunteering...but cool anyways
Tyson Arden i would say it’s applicable to all stages, but of course for internship it’s way more focused. Would you like a video specifically for clinical rotations?
@@drjustinleedpt yeah, I feel like that would really help PT students who want to get the most out of their experiences. That's what I was looking for. What you did here is helpful but maybe not for people who are already in a program. Thanks
@@tygrunge Appreciate that reply Tyson! Im sorry it wasnt what you were expecting. I want to make a video on the clinical experience and all that so ill put it on the list!! Thank you for your feedback
