It’s entirely up to you. Some places will want you to volunteer for specific hours though.

Thank you for this informative video! I have searched online for OT Tech/Aide positions but haven’t found any in my area- the only openings I see are for registered COTA’s or OT’s. Are tech/aide jobs relatively rare? Do I need to call offices directly and ask about these positions or how do you recommend going about getting an OT Tech/Aide job?

Tech jobs are rare but you could call an outpatient clinic or hand therapy clinic and ask. There’s a company called atlas that teaches people how to lift patients they work with therapists too.

Is an OT Tech different from an OTA? I thought you had to have an associates in OT and be licensed to do OT work at all?

OT tech doesn’t need a degree. OTA is an associate and OT is a masters
