The thing that I would add to this great video is how tired most US travelers will be when this leg of their journey starts. By the time you arrive at CDG you will have been on the go for many hours including flying through the night. Then at least in my experience passport control is an ordeal of 1 to 1.5 hours. By the time you're ready to to taxi/train/bus with perhaps an additional metro ride after that you're pretty done in. And add to that a certain amount of luggage you have to drag around. For a lot of people especially if you're in a group of 2 or more the taxi will pay for itself by virtue of not adding additional hassle to what turns into a very long day and you don't have to drag luggage through turnstiles and risk getting confused with what can be a confusing system if you're seeing it for the first time.
Also, when it’s hot, remember the RER aren’t all air conditioned, and will often be packed. Luckily, last month, I had a handheld electric fan. It was 11:00. 🥵
Thank you for the video! I was wondering if you knew whether the navigo weekly pass works on the roissybus between Charles de Gaulle and Opera? I have the pass on my phone rather than on a card
Métro + RER B, or taxi. They both would be at the same price. But I would really recommend more the taxi, as sometimes delays happen on the RER and you would not want to miss your plane... or simply be more stressed!
Hi! Is the RoissyBus included in the Navio Visitor Card with a week pass if I biy it there at the ticket office since I don't have the physical card? Thanks for the videos, really informative and to the point. Exactly what we need.
Hello Alain. A question for you regarding taxis from CDG to Paris. We are a family of 4 arriving in Paris soon. I checked the price of taking the train or metro compared to taxis and I think it will be more convenient for our family to take a taxi to the Left bank. My question is this. For the 55 Euros price of a taxi, does that depend on the traffic and how much time it may take to get to Paris or is the 55 Euros a purely flat rate regardless of time ? I have heard the taxi may take up to 2 hours if the traffic is heavy and wonder if that may increase the overall cost ? I have enjoyed your videos so thank you very much for them.
Going to the left bank, the price would be 62 €, whatever the time taken and traffic. Also, taxi prices are the same whether you are 1, 2, 3 or 4. They can only charge extra for a 5th person. 2 hours would be extraordinarily long. Usually, even if there are traffic jams, it should not be more than 60 to 75 minutes
Hi! Thank you so much for the videos and the knowledge, they are awesome! I have an upcoming trip to Paris and I was wondering if we can get the Navigo Decouverte Pass and take the photo at the office or do we have to bring the photo in advance? Thank you! 😊
Bon jour! 😊Toutes mes excuses d'avance pour le long commentaire. I am a recent subscriber to your channel, I love your excellent, authentic, no-nonsense videos. I have a Paris trip scheduled for mid-August, my last visit to Paris was over 20 years ago so I am counting the days!! I am traveling solo, as I did on my last trip, so I will be exploring the city alone during my visit. My question for you is, how worried to I really need to be about pickpockets? I have seen many videos about this topic. Of course, like any major European city, I realize one has to exercise caution with their belongings. Especially in touristy places, crowded places, the Metro, etc., care must be taken. But recently the videos seem to be increasingly scary, mentioning groups of pickpockets targeting people alone and similar situations. Because of this, I'm becoming more concerned about my safety during the trip. What are your thoughts on this? Merci beaucoup en avance pour ton aide.
I'll be having a video about scams and pickpockets later this month. Pickjpockets are the main dangers: Yes you have to be very cautious in the metro (itself but also the platforms and the corridors) and also everywhere there is a large gathering of tourists. They can work alone or in groups and some are very nimble with their hands and some other know exactly when to act - I was stollen 5 years ago a smartphone in my pocket just before the doors closed. So, what can you do? 1st, keep all your belongings inside closed pockets, bags, jackets... 2nd, don't look like a stranger. OK, I know it can sound awkward, but when I see in the metro a lady, wearing a red beret and speaking loudly in English, it's as if she's painted on herself a target. 3rd, in the metro, don't stay by the door. The pickpockets will steal you just before the doors open and run away at full speed. If you are seated or if you are right between two doors, they will look for an easier target. 4th, stay alert. That does not mean that you have to be paranoid, but just beware of your environment. Then, I've never heard of pickpockets using brute force to steal anyone in Paris. So, normally, don't fear being harmed... Hope this helps!
@@paristoptips Je vous remercie beaucoup pour votre réponse aimable et détaillée. This was very helpful, I am back to looking forward to my trip again! 😊 I await your upcoming video on this topic. I will have to keep in mind to sit in the middle of the metro car to be away from the doors and their quick getaway. I have heard if the metro cars are full, it may be better to wait and take the next one, especially along line 1. I think my biggest concerns are while taking photos with the selfie stick -someone running away with my phone - and also while eating alone a restaurant, being targeted for my bag. But honestly, the fear of brute force is, of course, the most concerning one. I'm glad this is does not appear to be their MO. It's such a shame to have this pickpocketing scourge on the most beautiful city in the world. 😍
Unfortunately - or fortunately - Paris is the #1 city in the world for tourists...The result is that it attracts pickpockets like a like a lighthouse in the night attracts butterflies.
Thanks for this video, can i just confirm that you cannot use a weekly pass on the RER from Orly to Paris Centre? Have you any tips for me as a wheelchair user landing at Orly to use public transport to Disneyland? Thanks in advance.
You can't use the Orlyval that links Orly to the Antony RER B station, but then you could take the RER to Paris. To Disneyland, you can get every hour on the Magical bus shuttle for 24€.
The most convenient way to travel inside Paris is the metro, and will always be cheaper than the taxi, even with 4 people. This said, there are a lot of taxis in Paris, plus Uber, Bolt and Freenow.
Indeed, but in fact, both are accepted. If you google them one third is lights, two thirds is light. And in French, it is la Ville Lumière, which is actually meant to main city of enlightenment in terms of culture and learning and has nothing to do with the street lighting 😁
Agreed on the enlightenment part that is why light is better…….I think. There are a lot of lights in Paris but I like to emphasize the enlightenment historical aspect. I didn’t realize “lights” was acceptable. Thanks for the enlightenment. 🥰
Wow, all my life I thought it meant street lights!! Never bothered to research it. Google translator goes with the city of lights. Fyi Lumiere in Chinese means brightness 光 and not lights 燈

Indeed, you're right. Taxi is hassle-free.
But it's also a question of money, and spending 55€ can be too much for some visitors on a tight budget.

Is the meeting point for those taking Uber well signposted at CDG airport? congratulations on the video!
No, not in all terminals. Normally your driver will tell you where to wait.
Awesome video on Paris transportation.
questions..
1. What's the option for 1 day travel pass for children?
1 day Navigo pass 2 zones is 8€45, adult or kid

Yes, it does.
The only public transport where it does not work is the Orlyval.
Prices on hotel chambers have increased by 50-60 % since 6 months. Since I go to paris a lot and keep track of prices weekly.
Prices always increase during the summer, but this year, it's a bigger increase!

What about private driver companies?
It can be a good option. Depends on price and comfort.
