This is the best video of Montmartre on RUclips. I have been there a few times, but did not see all the beautiful places you showed. I am planning my next trip to Paris this year. 😊
Please, please, s'il vous plaît keep making videos like this. Traveling to Paris in October and have been consumed with watching Paris travel videos by you and others. This is the best I have seen! So many great neighborhoods. Keep up the good work. Merci.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this video and sharing the map! My husband and I are currently visiting Paris and we went to Montmartre this morning. I cannot say enough how useful your map was. It made our visit truly special 🤩 We even bumped into other tourists in a metro station who were also going to Sacré-Coeur and shared your map with them! I can see how much you care about Paris and sharing its beauty with wider people. Really appreciate your efforts and please keep the videos coming!
I'm a new subscriber here & I just found your channel by sheer accident, so I immediately subscribed. Oh my gosh, this Sir, is absolutely breathtaking from start to finish! Montmartre is so lovely & wonderful! For our first week in Paris, we're staying for 9 days in this area, so we're utterly excited! You truly deserve thousands more subscribers, as your entire presentation, pleasant & interesting narrative & even the music throughout, is just brilliant & beautiful. My family & I are arriving in Paris later this year & honestly, I feel the tears welling up in my eyes when I watch anything regarding Paris & your video is the "icing on the cake"! When I left Paris & France many years ago, I cried on my last day there & I always yearned desperately to return & this year is my absolute dream come true! Thanks to my wonderful husband & family. I'll be in your beautiful & stunning country for over 6 weeks, so I don't take this for granted whatsoever. I'm blessed. It's also refreshing to hear a Frenchman taking us around his country, as you know France so very well. Your accent is wonderful! I'll watch more of your awesome videos, as they all appear very interesting & enticing. I should add, Paris is truly magical, very romantic & ethereal & these statements are never underrated! France too, is a truly spectacular country, possessing such rich history, culture & breathtaking scenery. The architecture and the excellent cuisine/food just Wow!!! Merci Beaucoup for your time & your wonderful videos, which IMPO, I think are brilliant & of very high quality. Paris we're coming soon & we're counting down the days!!!😊
I'm very glad you liked my video, receiving comments like this is a perfect reason for me to keep doing new ones... I love my city and I love my country, but I also don't want to paint it all pink. Paris can sometimes be disappointing when you expect to much, it's called the Paris syndrome (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_syndrome). So keep watching my videos (in the next two weeks I'll also speak about pickpockets and scammers) and you'll have a lot more good information to prepare your trip and be prepared 😀
Today we used your excellent map as the basis for the best day I've ever spent in Montmartre. We're Americans - we lived in Paris in the 80s and early 90s - and we now come back every year. Your map plus a friend's recommendation to dine at Le Bon La Butte made for the perfect day in Montmartre! Thank you for your excellent videos!!
Your walks are fantastic, thank you! My husband and I intend to do your Montmartre and Saint Germain des Près walks in June! Thank you for including the maps! We love your commentary and music selections. Good job keeping the music and speaking volume levels just right, as well. Merci beaucoup!
@@paristoptips Thank you! We have 5 days in Paris and I've printed off 5 of your walking tour maps. We will do a walking tour and a museum each day, then dinner and evening activities! Thank you so much for this great service!
As a French person who already went to Montmartre, I still find this mindblowing and instructive ! Thank you for this beautiful walk around Montmartre !
Going to Paris for the first time in my life on Sept 18 for two weeks. I am 70 years old and walk very slowly but I don't care! I am going. This Montmarte video was sublime. Merci!
With pleasure 🙏 I hope you have a great time in my beloved city! Even if you walk slowly, in two weeks, you'll have plenty of time to see a lot of it....

After trying to listen to a very 'trying' hyppie American do his tour of Montmartre, yours is a god-send and excellent. We came to Montmartre for two weeks and stayed nearly 3 months. Eventually, reluctantly left to return home but Montmartre has never left us. Its calling us once again.
What's great in Paris, is that some people will love Montmartre, some will not want anything else than Le Marais, some will always go to the Eiffel Tower neighborhood.... We are spoilt for choice in Paris!🙂

Really looking forward to this video. Monmartre was a part of our tour a few years ago, and i fell in love with the rustic and bohemian style of the city. I bought art there, had my first plate of escargot there, and loved visiting Sacre Coeur. Walking the streets kind of transported you to a time where it was more laid-back. It unfolded at it's own pace...(if that makes sense.)
@@paristoptips - It really is. And as you showed so well in this video, a few steps away from the hustle and bustle of the bigger streets, and you can find some idealic side street that feels carefree and quiet. I loved this walk, and I've added it to the list of walks I have to do when next I'm in Paris.
I'm in Paris trying to see what more this breathtaking city has to offer before the trip ends. I am definitely checking out Montmartre! Thank you for providing a walking map to get around all the amazing places I'm seeing in the video!

Thank you for this wonderful guide tour in Montmartre, Seeing the area thru a local is amzazing. I was there a few days ago and will revisit with your tips / suggestions. This makes my trip more fun and interesting.
What a beautiful way to see this area. I imagine you must have been up early to avoid crowds? My husband and I will be here in October. Do you have any videos for that time? Also, is this area dog-friendly? Merci!!! :)
Very nice You-Tube about Montmartre indeed. I’ve walked these streets a hundred times, and I never get bored. It’s an utterly romantic and creative environment. Amélie Poulain and the music of Yann Tiersen have captured this spirit so well. I can also recommend the book ‘In the footsteps of Toulouse Lautrec’ by Alain Vircondelet, and the interpretation of ‘Sous le ciel de Paris’ by Zaz!
Very details and simple to follow. This is the kind of most tourists want. I have a silly question, how hard it is to find a toilet around Mont Martre as I travel with someone less mobility and incontinence. Merci for the video clip
I loved your video. I can never get enough of the Montmartre neighborhood. Merci beaucoup. But why most of the shops closed when you went around? What sort of people now live in Rue Gabrielle and the older streets? Also, I would've wanted to see the atelier of Renoir.
I went there early in the morning and most shops open at 9 or 10 AM. And the Montmartre museum and jardin Renoir was also closed. It's an upscale neighborhood with quite high apartment prices: it's not very popular anymore...
It would vary between 2 hours and 3,5 hours depending on the way you walk, and if you climb up the Sacré Coeur or not. I did not show it, but the view is worth the climb!
Thank you very nice. I heard there is a very boho chic avante guarde area full of artisans in the south behind the mountains of Nice. can you do a video on artisan village where people live alternative lifestyles please
This is amazing. And sorry to ask this again - but is this all early morning or afternoon. I would love to believe these places never get crowded but I don’t dare 😊
This was early morning, in September, off peak season... There would be many more people in July or August, but even at that time, if you start around 8 AM, it would be OK
We went to Montmar Place in 2004, I particularly liked Place du Tertre so many artists with so little space for their work. I was saddened by urban expressionists who showered red & green paint across the domes of the hill top temple. Your video is professional & covers a substantial area on foot. It's always better to learn your way around by a French person, who knows the lay of the land tres bien Monsieur.
Hello! May I ask how long does it usually take to explore a neighborhood like this? I am planning some days for a walking around, taking photos and videos at Le Marais, Montmartre and Saint Germain (also my favourite district too), etc. Also, thankyou very much for all these great videos!
If like me you plan to do this route to avoid as many steps up as you can you -& using Lamarck C that there are 111 steps up from the metro before any others. Id recommend Abesses - walk along & get the funicular up - the other things eg statues are within 5 minutes from Sacre Coeur- its easier to go there after.
I want to go here and we will be in the 18th. We are going to Paris on Tuesday...But my friend is in a manual wheelchair which means I will need to push it.
@paristoptips thanks yes was thinking that. I may have to leave him at the airbnb one of the days and explore some of the things myself. My first concern tbh is getting from Charles de Gaulle Airport to the 18th with the wheelchair. Seems there are elevators at the airport so may the train would be best. We are not sure yet possibly an uber may best.
In RER stations, including at CDG, you have lifts. But from the RER station Gare du Nord in Paris to the 18th, you still would have to take a taxi or Uber
@paristoptips ok thanks. I am looking forward to it but also slightly concerned about wheel chair. You see I booked for myself then friend wanted to come. We would probably have been better to go somewhere else and I could have gone to paris myself some other time. It's nice for him to get a holiday too he is 84 and visually impaired. Was meant to be a bit of a break for me tbh. It didn't work out that way :)
My father's 86 and in a wheelchair, so I perfectly understand what you think. This website may be useful to you: parisjetaime.com/eng/practical-paris/visiting-paris-with-a-disability-i053
Strikes are not an issue at the moment in Paris. Might be in September, though... Refugees are another issue, but staying in touristy places, you would not meet many...
Regrettably in my view Paris has gone down hill in recent years! I say this not as a hater of France or the French, far from it, I'm a francophile. Love the language, the food, the wine, the fashion and the countryside and for the most part, the people. However Paris, like many major cities and capitals, but Paris in particular has been affected, has become incredibly dirty, absolutely full to the brim with immigrants, exceptionally expensive and it has lost its identity. Paris in the 50s and 60s and 70s and 80s and even into the early 90s was a very different place to what it has become since the turn of this century! London is not that far behind sadly although it's not as bad as Paris for the time being at least! France in general has got serious problems especially in the big cities. Nonetheless that said, I still enjoy holidaying in the French countryside especially Provence and if you choose carefully where to go you can still find some beautiful areas.
I partly agree with you.Paris faces some issues, and the majority in power currently in town hall is largely responsible for many of these problems. Moreover, as for the rest of France, poorly controlled immigration with sometimes a clear refusal to integrate into French culture and habits makes certain places in Paris quite unremarkable, especially at night.
If you want to support me, a like or a comment, or share on this video would really be appreciated.

Very nice! How long does this walk take?
It would vary between 2 hours and 3,5 hours depending on the way you walk, and if you climb up the Sacré Coeur or not. I did not show it, but the view is worth the climb!
Is it possible to show us Vincennes ?
I might do a video on some of Paris suburbs later this year...
Thank you very nice. I heard there is a very boho chic avante guarde area full of artisans in the south behind the mountains of Nice. can you do a video on artisan village where people live alternative lifestyles please
Paris Top Tips is normally dedicated to Paris, but you never know.
@@paristoptips Got it thanks.
I'm happy if it could help you when in Montmartre.
Thank you so much! Great tips! Could you please Tell me how long would it take to take its route? Up to Sacre Coeur.
The total route is in between 2 and 3 hours. Climbing up the sacré-coeur adds half an hour to the tour.
@@paristoptips merci monsieur
Superb!👍👌💜💚💙...are you planning a similar video for Les Marais...Latin Quarter?...arriving to Paris in less than 22 days!✈️🗼💃🏻🙏🥰🥐🧀🍇🍷
Yes, but I don't know if I'll have time in June.
One if my next videos is on the beautiful parks of Paris...
@@paristoptips Excellent! I very much look forward to that.
Le Marais video is out too...
Hello! May I ask how long does it usually take to explore a neighborhood like this? I am planning some days for a walking around, taking photos and videos at Le Marais, Montmartre and Saint Germain (also my favourite district too), etc. Also, thankyou very much for all these great videos!
Half a day, if you don't visit museums, or more if you do, such as the Musée Carnavalet in Le Maris, or Cluny in the Latin Quarter...
Cool!
Thanks 🙏
Guess what Alain! I did most of the Montmartre tour on Bastille Day!!! 😊
Great idea, there must have been less people than on a normal summer weekend day!
@@paristoptips it was packed! After we had dinner at bouillon pigalle. Thanks to you
If like me you plan to do this route to avoid as many steps up as you can you -& using Lamarck C that there are 111 steps up from the metro before any others. Id recommend Abesses - walk along & get the funicular up - the other things eg statues are within 5 minutes from Sacre Coeur- its easier to go there after.
It's another solution
We took a free walking tour. We saw all the key places in the least time with a lot of rest time. Saint Denis statue ( fountain)was impressive!
Glad you liked Montmartre 🙂
I love this 🍺🍺
Thank you 🙏
Good.
Thanks 🙏
How long does it take with this walking tour?
Around 2 to 3 hours
I want to go here and we will be in the 18th. We are going to Paris on Tuesday...But my friend is in a manual wheelchair which means I will need to push it.
I hope you have a great time.
Unfortunately, Paris, especially Montmartre with all the cobbled streets, is not really wheelchair friendly

Why does everyone have the music so loud
Music in my video. Sorry if it's too loud for you
How is Paris with the strikes and refugee crisis now?
Excellent video. Thank you
You're welcome 🤗
