Thanks a lot for the video, I need to repair a hole I have in the roof on my house and this is how I need to do it. My doubts are now with consistency of the concrete mix and that's what I would like to ask. 1. Does the concrete mix has to be very dry with lots of clumps on it or it has to be more watery with little clumps like a cake mix in order for it to adhere and not fall? 2. How much time should I wait after putting a first layer to dry and put the other layers? The hole on my ceiling has some spots that are about half to 3/4 inch deep so I need to fill those firsts. Thanks a lot for all the help!
Hi, thanks for watching the video. The consistency of the cement is similar to peanut butter, neither too wet nor too dry. You should plug the deepest gaps first and continue to fill evenly until you reach the point of about 1/8 of an inch from the existing ceiling. The cement that I used first (Rapid Set) contains in its composition a drying accelerator and it dries between 10 to 15 minutes, so do not prepare a lot of mixture to give yourself time to put it on. the other cement takes about thirty minutes to an hour to dry depending on the temperature in the area where it is being worked.
@@jdhrhandymanservices3449 hey, thanks a lot for your answer and explanation. I was going to use Quikrete green bag mix which has fiber but now I will go with the rapid setting one.
In commercial building as the occupants change new occupants come as per their requirement they make small holes for wiring & interior works in beams , Columns & ceiling , will it effect the structure in long run say 20-25 years due to moisture entering RCC through these holes ?
Thanks for your comment. Each situation is different and the climate is different in each place, for which you should consult a specialist in the area where the structure is located. It is advisable to cover the rest of the hole through which the cables pass with silicone to protect the rod from the inside, but if the area where it is very wet this will not stop the deterioration of the rod.
Great video , I did exactly how you told it but the only thing I couldn't get right is the flashing through the paint, I used stain blocking paint than ceiling paint and it still flashes .do you know which paint to use to help with that Please ?
Thanks for watching the video. It is a bit difficult to know what is happening without seeing at least a photo. So it could be several factors: 1- Do you correct the leak of the roof before doing the work? There are occasions when after correcting the leak you have to leave an adequate time for the concrete to dry and remove the moisture caused by the leak. Such moisture causes stains in the repaired area. 2- If you do not pass a wet sponge to soften the tarnish for the finish this will look very rough and when painting it will be very noticeable. 3- If the paint used did not cover the stain try an industrial type paint (designed for ceilings), Thank you I hope these recommendations help you.
thanks for a great video, my question is the paint that goes over the cement do you have a preference and can i put a coat of mud on top to give a better blend Ty

Suerte y Exito
I have house of RCC 15 year old and my old slab was not in good condition that is leaking every rainy season and I build 2nd floor 2 year ago but my 1st floor kitchen slab is little bend what I do
Hello and thanks for watch the video. Hi, thanks for your comment. The cement is added in layers, allowing each layer to dry enough to continue adding the necessary layers until it reaches the ceiling.
Hi thanks for your question. The brand i use is Bull-Bond. The product is Tex-Gold bonding agent. here is the Link. www.homedepot.com/p/Bull-Bond-1-Gal-Tex-Gold-Bonding-Agent-BA4PTG/202820366
Thanks for the video. Why do you use two types of cements ? Using two types adds strength ? Is it OK to use the Rapid Set to cover and finish the affected area ?
Thank you for watching the video and I'm sorry for the delay in responding. Use the Rapid set first to fill in and the quikrete for the last layer for finishing. The reason why using two different is: Rapid set for its ability to dry quickly helps you to do the job faster and the Quikrete is slower drying that helps you make a more professional finish. Thank you.

All work is completely different, you should check the building regulations and consult a professional in your area of residence. If the rods are very thin you should reinforce them, I have done this work in areas of 3 meters by 3 meters without any problem, it will take longer to do it. The video is as a reference of how I did the work, I am not responsible for any accident or problem that occurs to anyone who follows these recommendations. Always consult a professional in your area of residence. Thank you for your comments and for watching the video.
In this case it was not necessary to replace the rod, there are cases that the rod has rotted so much that it has become very thin, in that case you can add new rod next to the thin rod and weld it to reinforce that area. But if all the rods that support the concrete are so rotten and have all become very thin, it would have to change the roof of that entire area.
