Definitely the classic Sample (Warren G) Regulator 😉
Regulators! Mount up!
But MIchael McDonald came out with the song, it's his song. Warren G just sampled MIchael's song.
R and B was just so smooth back then.
@@clemsonbloke samples are free, they paid this man to use his creativity lol
@@clemsonbloke yes that was acknowledged, hence why the OP said "the classic Sample" - no one is discounting the song not being Michael McDonald's - if you want to go back further you can look at Chuck Jackson too
One of the greatest blue eyed soul singers in History! Great song writer, singer and artist!
His eyes are brown
This is what was played at the barbecue
Check out gospel singer Gary Oliver. Another "Blue Eyed", soul brotha
@@crashcup100 LOL... I guess you're joking; but if not, "blue eyed soul" is the name of a subgenre of music.
"What happen to the feels?"
Gen-X asks themselves that every single day. Im so glad you're hearing the good stuff, girl! Love the tongue out 😂 Michael will do that to ya.
You should try Bobby Caldwell - “what you won’t do for love”, it’s another shocker!
Yesss!
Yes Mike and Bobby are always welcome at the cookout 😂😂😂
Bobby busy doing family reunions
The walk to the piano was gansta to the core. What a boss.
Lol--right
I totally agree with the previous comments about the song "On My Own" with the great Patti LaBelle. One of my favorite duets of all time!
And you have to listen/see the videos of the great Miss Patti LaBelle singing "If Only You Knew", "You Are My Friend" and "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". She's beyond spectacular.
I don't know why nobody ever recommends "Ever Changing Times with hiim and Aretha Franklin"...
My favourite part of On My Own is waiting for Michael! Patti sings the hell out of the first verse & chorus but we know Michael’s on his way and as soon as he sings ‘so many promises…..’ I’m in heaven!
Re "what happened to men who were all in their feels!?" women were adored by men 'til we started disrespecting ourselves. jmo God is love +
We're still here😊
We just don’t express our emotions because women end up calling us weak or feminine and then when we’re strong and manly, they call it toxic masculinity. Us guys can’t win either way.
Mike Mcdonald was a lengend before his solo career with the Dobbie Brothers. A bunch of white sould funky brother, laying down some impressive grooves and smooth vocals. I think Mike is in "We are the World" song, he get a solo section for himself. He was fire.
That was Kenny Rodgers, Michael was not in We Are The World.
I wish he was, though! ❤
You mean the Doobie Brothers. The Dobbie Brothers was a Harry Potter tribute act
kennie Loggins too@@eloisapompa5048
He was a backup singer for Steely Dan before the Doobies, not exactly a legend.
Michael McDonald is a legend. When he produces something, it's quality from voice to vocals. This is the fine old school such as Stevie Wonder, Michel McDonald, Ivan Lins, Al Jarreau these are phenomenal musicians ❤
Girl... you gotta react to him and Patti LaBelle! It's a duet called On My Own and it's straight 🔥🔥🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
OMG I don't think you would have survived the 80s, that's when Talent was actually Talent, and not Auto tunes and make believe! To watch Michael Sit down at his piano and sing was awesome❤
I agree - I don't like Auto tunes either, I like tunes about Love & Life - not cars.
“Taken it to the streets” is another he’s lead singer on, fantastic protest song ♥️💪
Yes, you heard it before. Rappers steal great music and call it sampling! 😡😡😡
As a man who grew up the 70s and 80s, what Michael is doing is expressing is what was an unashamed appeal to someone he truly loved - and he wasn’t about to let her go without giving his all.
Idiots today call it being “in your feelings” when in reality it’s setting aside your pride in the interest of relationship. These modern terms (“in your feelings”, “situationships”, and so on) are a contributor to (or result of) why our people are in the dire straits we’re in.
Very eloquently stated and I concur. ✨️✨️💛
I grew up in the 70's and had a MASSIVE crush on Michael McDonald so much that in 1991 I got married to a man that looked identical to him AND his name was actually Michael .
This realization literally just occurred to me 33 yrs later 😆
And I still have a crush on Mr. McDonald ❤😊
Blue Eyed soul, nothing like Michael Mcdonald to warm a cool night!
First time watching this and I like how she gets into the song right away.
Listen carefully folks!
Warren G's "Regulate" (ft. Nate Dogg) sampled its groove from *this song*!! Respect.
Aside from the great singer Michael McDonald, this tune is ALL ABOUT THE TITLE LYRIC...How many of us have awakened after a restless night's sleep, and it hits you square between your eyes and ears and you say.."Oh, that's right, I keep forgettin' we're not in love any more"...."Things will never be the same again"....and your heart begins to ache. Your soul feels empty, and you feel lost, and oh, so all alone. You got dumped, yet, you are still so much in love. I cry every time I hear this tune.
🧡 This was sampled quite often over the years. You may recognize it from Warren G. ft. Nate Dogg "Regulate". TFS!
what is tfs?
@@corsicanlulu Tfs means thanks for sharing.
@@TheRealKymiPoo thanks
SOMETIMES THE GRASS ISN'T GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE . SOMETIMES PEOPLE WALK AWAY FROM HAPPINESS AND IT'S RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR NOSE .
And he WRITES his own songs, too!
I’ve been saying that for a while. When I was a growing up in the 70’s and 80s people seemed to have more passion and heart. I don’t know what happened to the world
Part of it is that this kind of music is gone. ✨️😐💛
Ms. Ashley, your personality and humor come across the screen. MIKE! got me. The answer to your question about men today, I can only speak for myself. I never met a woman who was drinking anything that caused me to be head over heels. Stupid in love. The beauty of a woman and her natural ways were enough. Wearing my heart on my sleeve. Old jams bring back my younger days and make me smile and remind me of how much I forgot I used to be the same. I still care. I still feel. I still love. Your coat is jammin' Peace from west Texas.
He's got a song with Miss Patti Labelle " On My Own" which is heat also
This ain't no sample this the original baby !!!!!🎵🎵
Warren G and Nate Dog sampled this song for Regulators
Preach!!!
Ashley- Warren G and Nate Dogg sampled this for their hit, “ Regulate”. 😊
You would love his Civil Rights anthem- Takin It to the Streets! Live or studio. There are lots of performance vids of him with the Doobies.
The mindset of "If you work hard to get something. You appreciate it more" applies to relationships back then.
A guy had to "work" to get a girl's attention. "Work" meant pursuing, actually talking and getting to know them. Asking for a date and planning and putting some thought into the date(s).
We valued women that actually valued themselves.
It doesn't mean there wasn't "casual encounters" or "one night stands" there definitely was. It just seemed like people were more respectful then.
Women were seen as a "prize" or "gift" to be celebrated instead of just a "conquest" to disrespect.
Nowadays it seems like people just "hook up." The lines of an exclusive relationship a very blurred.
Especially when Independent Women act like they don't need or want men.
Men used to hold doors open for a female as a sign of respect. Many times, if it's done now women find it disrespectful.
That is sad to me. I take my chances and still hold doors.
was a time when men sang to the ladies, not at the ladies... Definitely
I totally agree with the previous comments about the song "On My Own" with the great Patti LaBelle. One of my favorite duets of all time!
Gay
You're exactly right that men, and young men in particular, are socialised to be much harder and less emotional now. It's seen as weakness and simping, essentially, to express deep love for someone. We all have our walls up, and want to protect ourselves. It's a shame. Lots of things were much worse in the past, but this is definitely one thing we've lost - the softness and the tenderness.
Hey there Ashley, Michael McDonald is the man with "The Golden Voice," he is "One of a Kind," he is the epitome of "Blue-Eyed-Soul," and he NEVER disappoints because he NEVER misses!!! He is like a modern day "Righteous Brother" LOL!!! Mic-Drop!!! 🎤
Another good example of “blue-eyed soul” is Wild Cherry and “Play that Funky Music”, IMO.
@@MrCubFan415 Agreed!!! The only draw back with Wild Cherry is that they were pretty much just a 1 hit wonder...No shade, just facts...
Daaaang, Ashley, I grin from ear to ear on some of your videos, so much personality wrapped up the in prettiest packaging. Great reaction!
Eyo.....
He's the only White Dude on the Soul Train Christmas Specials, real talk.
Enjoy Suga....lol
What happened was women tryna be men n men don't wanna be with another man, they want a real woman
Cool. Please play "Jumping Jive" by Cab Galloway and The Nicholas Brothers. "L-I-V-E". Thank you.
Songs from my youth. Back when people sang for real and musicians actually played. No fake crap, just pure talent. We didn't care the color, just the talent. This man wrote most of what he sang too.
Gurl is FEELING his pain ..... Love it!!
Now that man can sing. Been listening for ages, fantastic voice. Him John Farnham, Steve Perry. are the best voices
Warren G sampled this song in his song called "Regulators."
Michael McDonald, Christopher Cross, the eagles and steely Dan. Not of this world.
YES - this beat was sampled by Warren G. ft. Nate Dogg in "Regulate" - good catch!
Hey beautiful love your reactions..Check out On My Own..Patti Labelle..Featuring Michael McDonald..you will love it..
The me to movement happened. You can’t even tell a woman how you feel about her these days without being accused of something.
The boys today haven't got the guts to let it all hang out. It's sad seeing everyone walk around with a big fat filter floating in front of them. Love the reaction sweetheart. Cheers.
Warren G. sampled that tune in one of his rap songs! Regulate !
Youngin’s need to know a lot of the tunes they like originated way back.🤔
It's simple, music was better back then🤷🏻😊
Romance has been downplayed in today’s angry culture….men still love women and will write them beautiful songs if given the chance..
Warren G and Nate Dogg sampled this for their song Regulate
Different woman back then 🤷♂️
Unfortunately times have changed. All the old rock songs usually were about love or heartbreak. That's when love was cool. Those days are long gone. But at the end of the video, notice a different woman approaches him, and he gives that wicked little smile saying...ok, let's move on now.
Honestly what happened is that the vast majority of western Women in the last couple generations don’t deserve songs like this anymore. It’s a cold hard fact but true. #PassportBros
I can answer your question The women back then they were classy.. They weren't from the streets They didn't talk like they were from the streets, They acted like a woman they were feminine...
What to know the difference between then and now? The men made the lady their Queens. And the women made their men the kings. Songs were about love and not sex and misogyny. Everything was classier. Women acted with self respect and were worthy of their crowns. They weren’t self appointed thinking they were all that. People were respectful. Gangster rap ruined everything.
Yeah it ain’t the men these days it’s the young women. Thank God I’m older and am a grandfather now because your and my sons generation ain’t nothing like mine was. GEN X was the last of the old school men and women.
Isn’t Michael McDonald amazing. I’ve loved him so much for so long. Your reaction is priceless. Several years ago, he moved to Nashville or near Nashville. Now, he’s close. Thanks so much.
To answer your question at 4:11. This is what the fellas were like before gangsta rap came on the scene. Being a youngster in the 70s and 80s, I remember how motivated grown men were by a women.
I love your comments!! Men & women fell in love hard and there was romance and romantic dates!! These were our L O V E songs.
Cuz women were different back in the day too, they weren't acting like men and acting out like they do now.
It’s not the men, it’s the women. This is my generation but the females these days are NOT like in my day. Be a lady and the guys will go back to what we were.
One thing is that a lot of women now days just aren't as lady like as they used to be. What with all the feministic movements and such. Just a guess of mine. Women used to treat a man like a man, and this will make a man appreciate women more. But yes they just don't make the love songs like that anymore. Btw I'm not talking about all women. It is just most women just don't show men the same respect they used to. In turn men showed the ladies the love they deserve as well.
Back in the day it was a very loving time between women and men a lot of hugging and kissing holding hands it was all good but today the system has driven a wedge between man and woman it's so sad we can fix this just believe in each other.
Michael McDonald was the lead singer of The Doobie Brothers which is Snoop Dogg's favorite band.. even after Michael McDonald left The Doobie Brothers The Doobie Brothers did well without him and I just saw Michael McDonald with the Doobie Brothers in concert..
Michael has an album where he does only MOTOWN tunes . Check it out .
Warren G sampled the beat with nate dogg
It's Michael Mc Donald honey .
Michael McDonald sampled by Warren G, song Regulator!♥️✌️
You should hear him and Patti Labelle on one song
That time was a time where men were move devoted to their women. It's different now Sister.
I get what you're saying I'm older and understand what it is like to fall in love with somebody and when I look at my younger friends 20 years younger than me they have trouble with love...the signals are mixed...ambivalence is the new love...God help us to rediscover love!
Yes this song was sampled on 1994’s “Regulate” by Warren G
Almost 30 years! 😢
La Música de Michael pasa a hacer una leyenda, jamás jamás saldrá un talento a ese nivel.
Warren g -regulate used the beat
Great reaction.... On My Own by Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald. Keep up the good work! 👍
I love the contrast you alluded to between the baby boomers/Gen X and subsequent alphabet generations.
How astute, entertaining and real was that?
Great reaction.
I'm in!
Gotta listen to the Doobie Brothers with him as lead singer.
Hey beautiful can you react to Chicago Artist: BizzelNoLackn
Song: Zero Dollars 🔥🔥🔥 thanks🥰🥰💞
This lady stole the show!
Funny, articulate and fully appreciative of what she is listening to with insight all of her own as well.
Blue-eyed Soul at its best.
Definitely sampled! The famous one was Warren G and Nate Dogg for "Regulate" I was a teen in the 80's, and the difference in the way men treated women then versus now is astounding. There is no respect. BUT, I blame popular culture shifts and very classy ladies like Cardi B, and earlier, Lil Kim. Women have completely hyper-sexualized themselves in their attire and actions, and wonder why things are different. It's no mystery to me, lol.
60s and 70s the men were gentlemen, and we had great music and lots of dance clubs. It was fun.
Regulators - Mount Up! - Warren G and Nate Dog. they took the whole song and just put hip hop over it. the early 90's rappers knew how to sample the good stuff and put just as much fire over the music.
you should react to patty labelle and michael mcdonald,on my own,its a great tune
Listen to him and Patti LaBelle on "On My Own". He's definitely that Dude
Yes Warren G sampled it in his rap song called "Regulate" if I'm getting the song title right. And Bobbi Storm sampled this beat also in her song called " We Can't Forget Him". ❤
You should check out His duet with Patti LaBelle, On My Own!
70s / 80s good time for sure
Men felt respected back then. Nowadays....Not so much. That's what changed Young Lady. Glad you found Mr. Mike. 🙂
Blue-eyed soul / Yacht rock.
Try Kenny Loggins ”This is it”. Also co-wrot What a fool believes (Doobie Brothers)
✨👌🏼✨
☝🏼🤩 And, oh yeah!… Nice coat! 👍🏼
Aretha Franklin ft Micahel McDonald - Ever Changing Times
Check out Eric Clapton / Layla Unplugged. That’ll get you. Read the backstory first though, it’ll give you some insight.
The background singer on this track is Michael’s sister. Talented family
Michael McDonald has been married to the same woman since 1983. : )
Good, Lethal....still a little full of shit tho....research for 2 minutes.....much love tho
Poor Ashley, been overlooking all the good, loving, maybe shy guys......
So glad you liked this one! Great reaction!😊
What song does regulators sample?
Regulate' At 20: Warren G & Michael McDonald Discuss the G ...
I Keep Forgettin'
On April 28, 1994, Warren G and his frequent collaborator, the late Nate Dogg released “Regulate,” a single based largely on a sample from McDonald's 1982 hit “I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near).” Peace out.
Check out Warren G - Regulate (Official Music Video) ft. Nate Dogg sampled this classic.
It's still like that everywhere. You're just (lookin for love, John Travolta video....in all the wrong places)
It took a good 40 or 50 years but yeah ... now the men actually DON'T care. Or the women for that matter. And what you're left with is the music you have now. It's a reflection of the times. REGULATE!
