This was lit 🔥 what other Michael McDonald song would you like for us to react to? Leave your suggestions down below 👇🏾 WE F***ING LOVE U GUYS!!
What a fool believes. Good song.
They already reacted to What a fool Belies on Jan. 27th. I'm watching it now.
Sweet Freedom
Nice reactions guys! He did a duet with Patti Labelle called "On my own"! It's great! Much love!
“On My Own” duet w/Patti LaBelle
I cant believe how many people dont know who Michael McDonald is.
This stuff is old, they appear to be young. It stands to reason they do not know him.
But what a joy to see our soul brother Americans hear this for the first time. Michael is not ashamed to admit how he was influenced by Motown.
Michael MacDonald and Warren G crossed paths in NYC when the remake was a hit. They had mutual respect for each other and the music.
Well hopefully Warren G had permission to sample the song
Otherwise I wouldn’t really call the encounter respectful 🤷🏽♀️ ijs
@@amberthomas4839 And people shit on, Vanilla Ice.
Michael is an outstanding musician and singer. He was also part of the Doobie Brothers.
Steely Dan as well.
Yup. He swooped in during the corporate rock upheaval of the late 70s 😁
@@midwaymonster30 Steely Dan collaborated with so
Many wonderful musicians. Michael is one of my favs😀
Lead singer of the Doobie Brothers
Fun fact his sister is the female voice on this record. Amazing song!!
He sang a great song with Patti LaBelle- On My Own and he also did back up for Kenny Loggins - This Is It.
This!
Uhhh.... Doobie brothers
@@joshstewart2296 uhhh…. They reacted to the Doobie Brothers first that’s how Micheal McDonald’s solo was suggested!
Add Ray Charles to that list.
@@PapaEli-pz8ff Wow that one got by me I’ve never heard it , I did google it and they truly killed that song. Im now remembering he backed up Christopher Cross - Ride Like The Wind.
People sometimes forget, he was (still is) a member of the Doobie Brothers. Now you know how he gets that chill vibe in his songs.
He did a duet with Aretha Franklyn " ever changing time"
He also did a duet with Patti Labelle. Guys start listening to the Doobie Brothers as well as his solo albums.
Love watching people realize what we already knew 🥰
Amen!
For real and then they f around too much
Facts
the drummer is Jeff Porcaro.the most recorded drummer in the 80's.he played on thousands of songs including thriller.the very best
man is voice of an angel incarnate. his voice is soooo buttery and perfect. love him
Beautifully talented musician. No auto tune and he can play an instrument AND writes his own musics!! One of the best and most blessed by God.
What about THE pipes on THE Michael McDonald?!!! You gotta respect how soulful and effortless he makes it look when he sings. 🔥🔥 I was vibin right along with y’all 😂😂😂
This tune was written by Jerry Lieberman and Mike Stoller. It was recorded by Chuck Jackson in 1962. McDonald’s version was released in 1982.
I like how they really get into it when they realize how good the song is. Glad you're listening!!
Great jam! Michael McDonald's voice is instantly recognizable. He started off as a session singer on many classic albums, most notably Steely Dan's Aja album. He joined the Doobie Brothers and injected his jazzy/ soulful mix into their sound. His later solo work and collaboration s with other legends are also legendary. I saw him during his Motown album tour .....and he's phenomenal live.
I heard he was called in to help DLR on van havens song I'll wait" . Story goes David was stumped for lyrics so the producer called up michael macdonald to help out. And he came up with a few lines in it. But wasn't credited on the album. Was all worked out. And said he made more money of that 1/5 writers credit than all the Doobie bros money. Don't quote me but you can look it up.
MM is a bad ass vocalist, performer, musician! He can harmonize any note in any genre of music.
He’s certainly legit!
That's Michael's sister Maureen singing backup. Also check out more from the Doobie Brothers when Michael was the lead singer. Also like some have said
" On My Own " with Patti Labelle and
" What A Fool Believes ".
He’s basically saying “ I still have that in love feeling, but she made it clear”
This was his first solo record (post-Doobies). He did a lot of collabs with everybody from James Ingram to Patti LaBelle to Kenny Loggins. Check out "Sweet Freedom".
Michael McDonald is one righteous brother. Well, technically, a Doobie brother, but you know what I mean. 😆 Check out his duets with Patti Labelle, "On My Own" and Aretha Franklin, "Ever Changing Times". He's also done one with Toni Braxton, James Ingram, and many others. Man is a vocal/songwriting GOAT. His collabs and solo singles are all worth a reaction, as well as his work with the Doobie Brothers.
And yea, don't worry, that's a common reaction to the Warren G sample. lol I heard that track first too, and had the same reaction. There's actually a great mash-up on YT with the Warren G and Michael McDonald track combined. Surprisingly good.
Toto's much-missed drummer Jeff Porcaro in the pocket there, with Toto's Steve Lukather playing that beautiful guitar riff.
Whenever I hear this beat drop I'm SO VERY pleased, whether it's Michael OR Warren. I was singing the Regulate right along with y'all. Thanks for the fun time.
This song is still a banger after all these years!
Still! 🔥🔥🔥
You two are funny. This is one of my all time fave songs. The back up singers are his sisters. He pulls this song off live perfectly, anytime.
Wow, I loved this song back in the day. I didn’t know his sisters were the background singers. Thanks
I think His Wife was as well
I love this song. That’s his sister Maureen grooving on back up.
Did not know that.
@@kierstenridgway4634 yes It was mentioned on a program I saw featuring a story about him.
@@shirleycollins6241 I love to learn cool trivia.
@@kierstenridgway4634 lol me too.
@Shirley Collins saaaame here loooove it love proving folks wrong just love it and i love doing all kinds of research to make sure i got my facts correct and on point
He’s one of the greatest singers in Rock
🎶🎶❤️
Y'all groove together so well! I never realize how long & how big I've been smiling until the end of the video & then my cheeks hurt! 😘
When Warren G hit with this sample, I was late teens/early 20s and immediately loved it because I grew up with The Doobie Brothers and Michael MacDonald, and always loved this track. Check out Black Water, Takin it to the Streets, What a fool believes. You got your rockabilly, r&b, southern rock, and soul, all together. Music and food, bring us all together.
Me too!
Minute By Minute is a great song! It's when Michael McDonald was with the Doobie Brothers.
Classic song that EVERYBODY liked back in the day - I think it was a hit on all kinds of charts. Thanks for your reaction!
I'VE ADOPTED THIS TO MY DIVORCE SONG WHICH I LOVED SINCE THE EARLY 80'S....40 + YRS LATER....IT'S STILL RELEVANT
His Motown albums are gold !
Ya'll cracked me up, I just love when people hear that first riff, and are like wait, someone rapped this,..yes, yes my dears, this is the original, and yes, Michael, yet another crooner, him , Teddy Pendergrass, Luther Vandross, the 70's, 80's, AL Green, and ohh my Robert Palmer, ...just swooning us away,..do keep going, whole Minute By Minute album, Here To Love You, Open Your Eyes, ...do check it out,..Godspeed, Peace ✌
He's got one of those 'one of a kind' voices. Please check out any Doobie Brother song that he is singing in!
This song was my jam! This song has been sampled by a few artists. Michael McDonald has a lot of great songs. Thanks for the great show!
You guys should react to The Band/ The Staples - The Weight ( The Last Waltz), An amazing collaboration & Eric Burdon/ War -Spill The Wine Live 1970 Beat Club).
Before Michael McDonald was with the Doobies, he did a lot of backing vocals for Steely Dan. Also lent his voice to other artists back in the 70's, 80's. He was busy back then and has several other colab's with well known artists from many genres.
This was a very good old song.. I like the song he also did with Pattie "I'm on my own"
This was my favorite song at 7 and Regulators was my favorite song at 19. LOL Neither one ever get old! Awesome reaction, guys. Much love. 💞💞
I understand this song. It hits me very deeply. This beautiful women broke up with me and I would literally forget she broke up with me. I'd start calling her and catch myself. We seemed so close I still can't believe we aren't together no more. So if you ain't never been touched like this you don't get it. I get every word of this song. It helped thru the heart break
Hope you are doing well and happy.
Michael McDonald has an amazing voice! I love this song and that beat is classic! Nate Dog and Warren G did sample this beat! Michael McDonald also had an amazing career with the Doobie Brothers before his successful solo career!❤️❤️
Hahaha.. you had us all laughin...me and my son was feelin that Warren G!! And this is also his fav Michael MacDonald song too...I'm sure you know he was the second lead singer of the Doobie Brothers!!
The lady singing the backup female vocals, was actually Michael’s sister, Maureen McDonald.
Michael McDonald can out with this one in 1982 . The Regulate was in the 90's. "This DJ" . The West Coast hip-hop track employs a four-ball sample of the rhythm of the Michael McDonald's song I keep forgetting.
Michael MCDonald and the Doobie Brothers are amazing!
Michael McDonald released this song in 1984, Warren G released his song using the music track in 1992. Both are great artists.
Michael and Bobby Caldwell are reverse oreos. Both of em sang, always loved this song
I was in dollar tree today n they had ALOT of good vibe signs n I'm staring at em trying to remember where I heard that phrase.i now own good vibe signs n stickers🤗 man there's so many 70s,80s music that's deep n good but anytime I wanna toss a suggestion to yall to react to,I'll b damned if I can pull one specifically to write🤪one a these days I swear I'll remember.great seeing u days n hava great day 🤗
Love love love this song! Brings back alot of memories! Michael McDonald is so talented! #IKeepForgetting #TheSeventies #MichaelMcDonald #TheDoobieBrothers Love watching your energy & the love you two have for music & each other! #Half&Jai #AdorableCouple
Why is the &Jai part not highlighted in blue? Idk, but was supposed to be! I love them both! Sorry Jai!
I had so much fun watching yall groove to this song that I grew up with. It's so cool when old school meets new school. Keep vibing yal..
This song was all over the radio when I was in 6th grade. Timeless as always.
Michael McDonald has collaborated with a ton of artists. Check out Ride Like The Wind by Christopher Cross, This Is It by Kenny Loggins, Yah Mo Be There with James Ingram, On My Own with Patti LaBelle and Ever Changing Times by Aretha Franklin!
He sang songs with Patti Labelle On My Own and Songs with The Doobie Brothers, It Keeps You running, Taking It To The Streets, Minute By Minute, he sang with James Ingram Ya Mo Be There and This Is It with Kenny Loggins. All Lit and Fire! React to them!✌
Nope this is Michael McDonald original. They sampled it from him
Mr McDonald was a singer too with The Doobie Brothers back in the day. What a great artist he is. Always been a big fan of his. He also helped Christopher Cross too. I love Nate Dogg and Warren G!
Real Love by the Doobie brothers is my favorite song that Michael sings on. That is a must listen.
One of my favorites by him and great reaction. So happy to see your sub numbers keep rising. You two never fail to make me smile.
Jeff Porcaro on drums !! The legend of groove !
Michael Mcdonald and James Ingram "yah mo b there "
Background vocals by Michael's sister Maureen.
This is almost like part 2 of What a fool believes.
Minute by Minute is a good one, also Patti Labelle and Michael McDonald "On My Own" He has a lot bcuz he is a Doobie Brother too. Takin it to the Streets by the Doobie Brothers
love you both...you make so mutch joy and smile....thank you so mutch.....your best!!!!!
I think it's so cool how you can see jai trying to get every word! Fun stuff y'all
Wait a minute, you just reacted a few days ago to Michael McDonald as the lead singer in the song "What a Fool Believes" with the Doobie Brothers, and I waited for you to make the connection, but you didn't mention it, even though his voice is so distinctive. 🤔
Fun fact: That's his sister Maureen McDonald doing the backup vocals on this track.
😄🙌🏻half and Jay, I’m not creepy but I just have allot love for you guys. I’m 61 and Michelle McDonald was one of my favorite artist, but I couldn’t understand all the words he said 😲🤣……and the regulators sampled him 😑 👍🏼 He did a Duo with Patty LaBell that I love and you guys should listen to 😁it. His lyrics hurt me too my core 😔 I’ve lived that…still make me 😢
Mike is THAT DUDE.
Love you guys! You always make me smile! If ever a time machine is invented, go to the 80s. We all had big hair, sprayed stiff with Aqua Net hairspray, and GREAT MUSIC! Thank you guys for your reaction! Just remember saying from my time, " The higher the hair, the closer to God!" 😂
you guys are amazing, this is so 80's!!!
Regulators…mount up lol “Regulate” stays permanently on my playlist
RIP Nate Dogg, King 👑 of Hooks❤️❤️❤️
Hey at least when y’all forget together nobody notices lol 😂
PS I’d loose my head if it wasn’t attached
❤️❤️❤️
Can’t wait to do some bingeing on some videos especially on your individual channels too. Wish I had more time in the day.
Fun fact: on an episode of 'Soul Train', he introduced his sister who did the background vocals for this song.
You guys are great full of positivity, lots of love from South Africa
I love this! I heard this song while working overnights at The Home Depot...I was like...where's Warren G? But then I used Shazam to learn who did the original track and loved it ever since. I loved your Warren G references!
Just goes to the talent of this man just wonderful
I work at a grocery store that plays a lot of older stuff and every time they play this I think of "Regulate", just like every time they play "Thank You" by Dido I think of "Stan"
This song has been a great inspiration for our Dutch PM. Those who read this and are dutch understand what I mean... 😉
I remember hearing that the female back up singer is Michael's sister, Maureen. There were rumors she was going to record her own album, but I don't think that ever happened.
Too bad, because I love her voice!
Michael McDonald is very slept on this dude is a legend 💯
Half and Jai are so fricken cool! I love you guys!!!
I love it when I hear a sample I recognize for the first time!! This Warren G sample is so classic!! It happened to me recently when I heard 'Those Shoes' by The Eagles, I immediately started rapping the verses from Beastie Boys' 'High Plains Drifter.' ✌️💚
When I hear That Lady by The Isley Brothers and the extended guitar bit I always want to break into A Year And A Day from Paul's Boutique myself....that whole album is a brilliant mix of samples....probably never to be duplicated because you couldn't get them all cleared now.
Good to see you having fun with it. Enjoyed your reaction.
Just seen Doobie Brothers summer 22. What a great band. Sound amazing still.
I accidentally found you guys during the first lockdown and you've been a source of joy ever since. Thank you for reacting to this CLASSIC, and for biggin up the angel Nate. Bout to head out to work, 213 in the system, feeling pretty damn 90s right about now...
Man I still play this today ❤
One of thee best voices ever imo love him❤
His sister Maureen McDonald sang the backing vocals on this song. Great reaction!
Keep coming back cause I need the good vibes love the channel
Unmistakable voice. He was with The Doobie Brothers. Check out Taking it to the streets.Awesome bassline, too.
He the most sample artist out there great beat and song writing and a fantastic voice.
Michael had a double great Christmas song called House Full of love and he gives it his all! Don't wait for Next Christmas. Go ahead and pull it up now!
I love his voice!
DOPE!
That Song and That Man are Amazing. Love love love it.
Love love love Michael McDonald.....
You might enjoy "I Can let Go Now"...lesser known... Absolutely beautiful song
This was my jam back in the day!
There is a reason two of the best rappers used one of the best beat/flow's in a song. It's been a long time since I've heard this song, good lookin out! Keep it up,peace and love from Indiana
They sounded great ❤hell yeah 👍
Yess such soul still talking about Michael that says something to this day a true og
What I love is you cant go wrong wit Regulate or Keep forgettin because that beat is FIRE🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hip Hop is the most sampled genre. Sugar Hill Gang started it off by sampling "Good Times" by Chic. And it's still so relevant today. I got one for you that will blow your mind. React to "Think About It" by Lyn Collins. And then realize that that sound was from 1972. I hope yall do it. Or at least listen to it in your personal time
