Huh. Listening to these tips is kind of an eye opener because I am kinda fast when it comes to just being on the track itself, I gotten some pretty good lines and I been consistently nailing wins in single player and always out running my opponents.
Surprised you didn’t mention the infinite blooper. It’s exactly what it sounds like, but it doesn’t work on cpu’s or online, only in local wireless or local. What you need to do is cut out blobs of black paper with tape on the back, then, when somebody uses a blooper, quickly tape the paper to your opponent’s screen. Then, when they’re confused because the ink never goes away, tell them some lie so they don’t get suspicious. Just remember to remove it once they pass the finish line or they’ll realize it’s something in real life on their screen when the ink still covers the menu.
As someone who only plays in 200cc, I can confirm that the majority of these rules still apply, except for the bomb one. In 200cc, if someone throws an item at you while you're holding a bomb behind you, no matter what you won't get caught in the explosion because you're going too fast and will have escaped it. Some of these shortcuts might be a little trickier to access in 200 though if you're not a pro.
LoekTheKing in 200c, the last glider ramp to the finish line in dolphin shoals is so satisfying, you can literally glide all the way to the finish line without having to take the two turns. and there are more shortcut routes to take on 200c that you don't even need to be a pro player to do them successfully. also I disagree with the fact that holding a bomb in 200c can not screw you over if some item hits it. thankfully, this only happens when you're making a sharp turn, in straight aways, you're 100% safe of getting blown over
Iиѕριяιтєd Gσddєѕѕ I’ve actually managed to safely use a bomb-omb by dragging it in 150cc, but if I was turning in at all, I would get caught in the explosion
Some other shortcuts, though, are easier. Especially the Mario Circuit and Toad Harbour(?) ones. You also have certain other ones which are only possible in 200cc, but it's not worth going over all of them.
As a really good and avid MK8 player myself, I still learned a lot. I haven't gotten a chance to play Deluxe yet and this video is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
Lol I feel like the player skill level this was aimed to really shot up at the shortcuts part. But great video, I found the exact instructions you gave for some of the shortcuts really helpful
There's a buck in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that gives you the chance to lose only one coin when you get hit by any item. You only need a coin as item and use it just in the moment, or a bit earlier, the other item hits you. I don't know why, but then you only lose one coin, and it works in any situation.
I've literally never played this, never looked at it before, had and have no intention of every playing it, but damn it was enjoyable to watch the breakdown on all the crazy strategies at the end.
I recently got Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (first Mario Kart game ive played in a LONG time) and I almost exclusively play Waluigi (for the memes with friends and family) and I've been trying to figure out whats the best setup for him. I love your videos and I've already learned a lot!
0:15 Getting a coin in first, you can hold it until you get another item to force a defensive item like a *nana* or shell Notice how he said nana instead of banana
One thing I use: if you're finna pass someone tight, hold and item behind you and run it into them as you overtake them. This works really well with bomb-oms, for some reason they don't hit you. This is also really useful for taking out people mid drift- hold the item behind you and cut in front of their line to leave them in the dust.
8:02 also, if you have a mushroom (its possible to do it solely with MT/SMT/UMTs but its very difficult on 150cc), you can take the higher one of the two paths and boost off the corner to cut the big turn and land on the part below it.
..These have helped even though i HAVEN'T played mario kart 8 deluxe at all, NOW i know how to use that boost thingy.. no wonder i only had that windy-speed boost when near other racers, and the bomb--defense drop thing works even in wii and double dash, gratitude.
I main the city tripper and a good tip is using the drift as a side hop as the allowing you to essentially go straight but move to the side not turning you bike that much
The amount of people who are definitely studying these to beat everyone when a whole bunch of their friends get together specifically to play mario kart.
Guys, if you wanna git gud, just do some Time Trialling. From watching WRs, optimizing builds based on the MK8DX stat wiki page, & practicing soft drifting, your skill will vastly improve without realizing it and you'll be leaving everybody in your dust in online/multiplayer
Pretty sure when you had 10 coins in the original they did too. Also having no coins means you spin if someone knocks into you. So it pays to always collect coins if you can
he'res an extra tip : if an opponent has a crazy 8, attempt to swerve in and steal their star. be careful though : this must have perfect timing or you'll crash into their defensive item.
On big blue if you look up the 200cc shortcut that is in the water, you can do this on 150cc bit you only cut of the first not the second, also you have to hold the stick down to get airtime
5:26 Do you need the tryhard combo (heavy character, light cart, small wheels for mini turbo, you know what I mean!) for these or can they be done with most standard combinations?
On one of the tracks, you can use a mushroom and jump in the right way and skip a huge section of the track. I don't remember the track name, but I believe it was without laps.
You can do the cheese canyon cliff glider shroomless pretty easily and it saves you about 0.5 to a full second You can do the yoshi falls waterfall slip shroomless but it’s really difficult And finally you can charge an smt and hop the grass areas on baby circuit
i did the rainbow road shortcut on accident like multiple times on the same race and i was like freaking out! i was like whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!? crazy
I have a question, so i know the Blue Shell can be dodged with a shroom but i have Ver 1.4.0 and in 200cc you outrun the Blue Shell and does that affect the timing of dodging it?
Albert Steel Depends on the situation. If I know I don't have people around me, I can take my time. If I'm surrounded or near the end of the race, I try to be quick about it
They changed the spiny shell so that when you slow down to behind a player it still hits you. My guess is that they made it so that the person who is in first when the shell is set off is the one who gets hit.
Thank you, this video is extremely useful! In your opinion are karts better than outside drifting bikes, or are they the same? I ask because I prefer the standard bike, but all the pros use karts mostly.
i didn't expect this to be an actual competitively viable list of tips. props
Huh. Listening to these tips is kind of an eye opener because I am kinda fast when it comes to just being on the track itself, I gotten some pretty good lines and I been consistently nailing wins in single player and always out running my opponents.
It's so satisfying when you've put so many hours into this game and see all the tips and tricks you learned here
And I thought I was good at this game.
Same

Hayden the eeeeeeeevil eukaryotic organism thx for the tip. i used it on my little brother last week and he still hasnt finished the race to this day
IchiNewbi This power is great, but please use it wisely!
Thanks this is too op so I’m glad this is banned from online

steve jordan i hate this turns i always get stuck in them ending up being second place😡

FUCKING love this channel
Lol I feel like the player skill level this was aimed to really shot up at the shortcuts part. But great video, I found the exact instructions you gave for some of the shortcuts really helpful
Dude those short cuts were elite I’d love too see people’s reaction to you pulling these off in online play
The itens tips I discovery by myself while playing, I was here for the hopping and shortcuts and now I'm 100 percent satisfied
I thought I wouldn’t learn anything from this vid but I actually learned a lot lmao! Great vid!
Thank you for teaching me and for creating such a great video 👍🏻👍🏻

Why do so many people have problems on the S turn in Neo Bowser City?!
yeah, it's a really good way to get SPEED
200cc though

It's not that hard you just need drift/ turn practice.

Erritiguei1 Glad I could help!
The best setup for me in waluigi would be Standard bike, roller wheels, and any glider
0:15 Getting a coin in first, you can hold it until you get another item to force a defensive item like a *nana* or shell
Notice how he said nana instead of banana
“Don’t use your item quickly” but lightening and boos are things that steal items spam the crazy 8 before they take it
Boos can’t steal a crazy 8
Shock just destroys your item and your item cant block it anyway, so youre better off saving it for a block or when its useful up until the shock

There is another shortcut in big blue where the flying circles are
Dude thanks I did not know about a lot of these shortcuts and now ik how to soft drif 😎
Those blue shell tips help a lot. Thanks
You rock for the captions, thank you so much
all those shortcuts XD
Well done
Whenever anyone plays with me for the first time, I ALWAYS give them this tip- Dont fall off the track
That’s true
Useful thx
i was wondering what that ramp in shy guy falls was for!

thanks for the tips, i'm going to attempt to learn these tricks to become better.
THANK YOU NBC THIS WILL BE USEFUL
YES SIR
I hate when someone steals my item or uses a lightning just as I was about to use it
Hey budda nice video keep up the good work
In first if a blue shell is coming try to get the Soundwave item. Use it when it's about to dive. If done correctly it destroys the shell
The only thing I’ve picked up from this is that coins increase your top speed
Pretty sure when you had 10 coins in the original they did too. Also having no coins means you spin if someone knocks into you. So it pays to always collect coins if you can
Heres a tip: green shells have something called smart bounce that makes them bounce specifically to hit a player
This gon come in handy for my school tourn
I have one.
On 50-150cc try to pick a speed loadout.
On 200cc try to pick a handling loadout.
That disco stage is my favorite,, plus can you do more breath of the wild theories
he'res an extra tip : if an opponent has a crazy 8, attempt to swerve in and steal their star. be careful though : this must have perfect timing or you'll crash into their defensive item.
Okay, my mind was blown on 75% of the shortcuts here.
Smart steering is good if used right, mankalor has a good video about it
1:41 is sick
Crazy, there were a lot of helpfull tips...Thank you :)))
Tip for helping a friend from blue shell: toss red shell for they can be affected by it, but not the Blue shell.
On big blue if you look up the 200cc shortcut that is in the water, you can do this on 150cc bit you only cut of the first not the second, also you have to hold the stick down to get airtime
I’ve had to is game for a while, but this was very helpful
Bloody hell. This is awesome - but now I have a headache.
Gotta learn to do those hopping drift boost things...yeah right 🤦🏻♂️
5:26 Do you need the tryhard combo (heavy character, light cart, small wheels for mini turbo, you know what I mean!) for these or can they be done with most standard combinations?
Exactly the things you need to have consistent wins in this game

When your pro friend invites you to play MK8 Deluxe lol
Even I didn’t know some of this and I’ve been playing this game for years
You can do the cheese canyon cliff glider shroomless pretty easily and it saves you about 0.5 to a full second
You can do the yoshi falls waterfall slip shroomless but it’s really difficult

You can steer bullet bill!! No-one seems to realise this!
Anyone looking for tips on time trial should watch this and also players who want tips
Wow. This is great.
In 200cc in the cheese road you can pass at the glider road
There should be more of these types of videos
I got a tip! in Tick Tock Clock, drive on the gear that is spinning toward the finish line. it will give you a small boost.
You can also trick twice off of it
I have a question, so i know the Blue Shell can be dodged with a shroom but i have Ver 1.4.0 and in 200cc you outrun the Blue Shell and does that affect the timing of dodging it?
Me: *surprised pikachu face* THERES SHORTCUTS THERE??
Also hopping is so essential..
Shroomless shortcuts are FUCKING NIGHTMARES i swear to god
1:42 anyone notice that he said 60 degrees (60°), but the on-screen text read 60 percent (60%)?
Do one of these for 200cc
Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7 blow this game out of the water. Its simple Mario kart with no gimmicks. Classic Mario Kart.
Where was the massive big blue shortcut
how do you drop a bomb or green shell?
Really great video
Could you do a video seeing if doing the firehopping technique in places where 8 made you slower is faster in 8 deluxe?
Firehopping was removed in Deluxe
It is normal to spam crazy eight on online. They steal it fast so press L as fast as you can in online when getting Crazy Eight.
Albert Steel Depends on the situation. If I know I don't have people around me, I can take my time. If I'm surrounded or near the end of the race, I try to be quick about it
Tricking caps your speed so on maps like sunshine airport by the glider ramp it's better to hop before the ramp to keep your speed on both of them
Something I like to do is hold onto a coin because you're less likely to get another coin if you're holding one
They changed the spiny shell so that when you slow down to behind a player it still hits you. My guess is that they made it so that the person who is in first when the shell is set off is the one who gets hit.
