in Mario Kart Stadium, if you glide up on the final section, glide left, and clip the last pipe and you will skip about 2-3 seconds without using a mushroom
Yeah, like the one in Daisy Plaza where you can ride those stairs. Or the Mushroom Hop in Mushroom Gorge you can use by driving straight instead of taking the curve at the beginning of the race.
Ok ok , I know this video was for the new players but for an example : on the map Big blue, at the part with the water if you take the right way you can (with a mushroom or 200ccm) jump of and land on the bright Water way.
I really like that one too. But if I trick when I jump, I usually miss the first boost ramp, so I try to not do that. 😅 It’s hard to correct myself! But it lines you up nicely for the end of the lap. There’s also one earlier in the course that has a speed ramp, and if I need coins I use it. Otherwise I don’t think it really saves any time, since it swings wide.
Timzel the Fabulousss the problem with that one is that you don't get an item if you do that shortcut unless the mystery boxes have changed places since the Wii U version
@@captainyoshi2207 I take that shortcut all the time and it almost always puts me ahead, since not many people take it due to not wanting to miss the item boxes. Imo it's definitely worth it.
On Yoshi's Valley, I found that Right, Left, Left is the fastest route. While taking it, it may show you drop down a few places, but at the end of the path you're further faster
I always use this route but never saw anyone else using it. Yes, you drop down a few places as you drive through it, but after you do, you’ll be infront of all those people who “surpassed” you and maybe a few more. Underrater shortcut!
In the mute city one, tilt your remote backwards on the shortcut while mid-air and you can essentially “glide” for longer, even to the checkered flag depending on the CC.
I don't consider these "real shortcuts". The only real ones are on rainbow road and big blue. If you don't get what a real shortcut is, it's a shortcut that wasn't intentionally made in the game, like all the alternate paths. This is a huge advantage the Wii version has and often overlooked and most people who say mk Wii is the best don't know about the shortcuts in that game
This isn't in Mk8 Deluxe, but Delfino Square has to have my favorite shortcut of all time. Just before you reach the first bridge, break off to the left. There's a ramp you can use to leap over the water and land on the dock on the other side. You need a mushroom to get that extra speed needed to make the jump, but it's totally worth it.
pretty new to MarioKart but at the 3:10 mark how do you go through that off road gap without slowing down? ive tried to drift boost through it because thats what this looks like you have to do but I guess I just keep failing at it because I always get slowed down and lose my momentum.....any tips?
Fastest route in Yoshi Valley is actually right left left. Because the route is technically shorter than the Death Bridge route, you will get bumped up a few places if you go through the fork the same time the pack does.
I have a good one I randomly found! At the end of big blue take the green path that is on the left and keep going till you come across the spin boost near where the tracks come back together, then hit the boost and slide by the wall and start holding the drift button. You should fly through the air skipping that whole curve part
May I add, the Mute City and Shy Guy Falls shortcuts can be completed without a mushroom, but it is much more risky. At the same time, there are better shortcuts in the map, assuming that you take the risk.
So, story first. I was playing MK8D in a convention I was at in Houston. I was racing on WIIU Rainbow road, when I realized 1st Lap I had failed a star smuggle hard. Nobody else but me had really ever touched the game but with a few friends, and so I decided to show a cut or 2. I was in last, with the other racers being in 6th, 4th, and 2nd. Triple shrooms, and I use one past the converyors- 10th- then I did the double track cut up to 6th. Right now, everybody is watching the race for first between the two others. 3rd lap. Got a star. Repeat cuts while the others were on the 2 winding tracks by the end. Nobody was watching as I took 1st. I laughed to myself as I showed the MKTV, and passed them. The best line of the rewatch- “That shroom made that dude get HIGH”- at the the time, nothing was intended. :) Gotta feel bad for em.
I found a shortcut on the Big Blue course by accident one time. When you get to the second lap where you start driving through the water, stay on the upper track and after the first 2 turns when the guardrail ends, make a sharp turn(it'll look like you're gonna fall off the road) if you have at least one mushroom and get up enough speed, you can jump off the track and land at the last turn right before the last set of item boxes before the last lap. It's a huge leap, so it usually gets you at least a couple places a head. Has anyone else discovered this short cut? I know it sounds confusing but it's easy if you time the sharp turn off of the road right.
I know I’m late to the party on this video but on Hyrule circuit the best shortcut is going through the trees on your right after the Master Sword jump as you can cut of the whole corner with a boost. :)
Both shy-guy falls and mute city (150cc & 200cc) can be done shroomless and a lot of the shortcuts you did were not the optimal way, look at world record and practice... Additionally I did not see dragon driftway or big blue on this list which are some of my favorite shortcuts in the game, but good video none-the-less (btw my favorite shortcut is on cheese land where you jump the canyon, although its only possible on 200cc and less optimal then the glider its so much fun to pull off and I highly suggest you try it)
The mount wario one: just go for it even without a mushroom, saves time anyway! just jump in to the snow as late as you can and then do small jumps in the snow!
On the first short cut you showed if you get on the first track instead of the second you can jump of the first track on to the second then do the next 2 jumps that you showed
Just so everyone is aware, you do not need to do the second jump he did on rainbow road. Just continue on the track you landed on. I recommend looking at the world record if you would like to see what I mean :p (I know the double jump can save a little bit of time, probably around 0.5 seconds. But if you are looking to TimeTrial the course you shouldn’t do the second jump. You can get a small time save by simply pulling off the trick 3 times.) it can also be done shroomless so you can use your mushrooms at a better spot.
im wondering if half these shortcuts would exist at all if the super shortcuts (or whatever the glitch shortcuts were called) in mario kart wii existed, they know some people want shortcuts that bypass turns and other things entirely cause of those so they put them in 8
In mario kart 7 there is a glitch that you need to fall at certain place in the first round using a mushroom and it will instantly take you to the final round
I found that on grumble volcano on the last lap go right and see that straight on off road use a mushroom and trick so you'll shave some seconds and this only execable once and me and my friend only found this!

Watching the top leaderboard ghosts on Big Blue 200cc made me cry tears for my own insufficiency

Shortcuts? You mean alternate routes
I mean. It's the same thing.
Outside of glitches, all shortcuts in Mario Kart history are alternate routes that save time.
@@Robbie_Haruna uhm... so, you're telling me that all these shortcuts in Mario Kart Wii are alternative routes?
@@l3xi_con Apparently so.. smh
There shorter/ quicker routes so they're shortcuts

Technically in this game it's actually slower than the regular route. It's faster the Wii version tho.
It’s not much shorter than the normal path, but the speed boosts do help
