Oh absolutely, Fred. But it's a very clever idea - I'm barely five foot tall and can't stand on ladders and put my head back, so this is a genius idea. I had to change the bulb at the top of the stairs the other day and it was really dangerous, so something like this would be great - I can't ask someone to come round and change bulbs, that's just too pathetic!
He made a horrible decision financially and his product most definitely needs work but earlier DDs were more about new ideas and helping develop them. The later ones only seemed interested in already extant, up-and-running businesses.
Anyway, he crowd-funded and is now selling them, so I'm going to get one and see. And he uses neodymium magnets now ;-)

Old people and disabled people still have to change them if they blow. The gadget would help them to do that by themselves. Not all old people and disabled people have or want people to do things for them, and a small issue like changing a light bulb can be important to them and this gadget would enable them to do that by themselves safely. I think it’s a good idea.

I love this idea. nothing feels more unsafe for people with poor balance than standing on a ladder, leaning up at an angle with little or nothing to hold onto, and trying to aim for that socket dead on and twist....... then twist, hoping it does not angle off so you have to untwist and start again tittering on that ladder even more, then twist and twist.... Its an absolute eternity knowing a fall can break a bone, incapacitate. Great idea, but that loan/ 'investment' of 40% from the 'angel' is impossible to overcome.
