You can't look at it this way, if you compare the intrinsic value of the company with and without the injected partnership, it could be magnitudes in difference. That is why there are even business deals that offer equity just for strategic partnerships and zero cash. In the Chocbox's case, they acquired a 25M pound deal shortly after the deal, which would not have happened otherwise.

He is absolutely insane selling 36% of a business with 300k profit for 150k. That values his business at like 1.5x earnings. That is ridiculous and insane greed from the dragons.
Honestly felt like they were robbing an inexperienced entrepeneur here. His business has already been proven to be extremely profitable. He also eliminated all risk to the dragons by guaranteeing he'd buy back their investment. The initial evaluation he came into the den with was perfect in my opinion. The dragons have invested much less into much riskier and far less profitable businesses.
I'm surprised it did so well there is other options like wago and junction boxes have always existed. I'm assuming it's the price point that makes it so appealing.
The deal went through, James bailed in 2011 and Duncan in 2015. Net assets are about £500k in 2021. Was £300k in 2011. So it wasn't a total dud but never took off.
Disgusting offer from Duncan and Deborah knew he’d pick Duncan over her. Also Theo is devastated he said he was out before the offered to pay back any investment
Nicely done guys. That was a good pitch, good negations, firm, but no aggression on either end. I have no doubt it worked out nicely for all three of them.
It is right, diy has taken over like crazy but theres a couple of things that remain with the experts. Gas supply like changing things there etc, electrics and plumbing.

This guy spoke to an entity who told him to crack a deal in the den at 30% for riches. His conviction is insanely strong. He knew this was gonna make millions with absolute certainty somehow. £100,000 for 12.5-15% equity would’ve been fairer on the entrepreneur’s part coming into the den
