    One of the best negotiations in dragon’s den history. Both sides started on ‘extreme’ conditions (£1.5 million valuation and 45% equity respectively) then reasonably worked together to arrive at a fair compromise. Great example of how to do business

      You can't look at it this way, if you compare the intrinsic value of the company with and without the injected partnership, it could be magnitudes in difference. That is why there are even business deals that offer equity just for strategic partnerships and zero cash. In the Chocbox's case, they acquired a 25M pound deal shortly after the deal, which would not have happened otherwise.

      Honestly felt like they were robbing an inexperienced entrepeneur here. His business has already been proven to be extremely profitable. He also eliminated all risk to the dragons by guaranteeing he'd buy back their investment. The initial evaluation he came into the den with was perfect in my opinion. The dragons have invested much less into much riskier and far less profitable businesses.

    The deal went through, James bailed in 2011 and Duncan in 2015. Net assets are about £500k in 2021. Was £300k in 2011. So it wasn't a total dud but never took off.

    And these 2 Dragons speaking are so wrong! Duncan & Theo. Soooooooooo many home owners, house flippers, etc. actually do their own work! To save money! All you have to do to get the work passed in bring in a licensed journeyman electrician to pass the work once you have finished it! That's a heck of a lot cheaper than hiring them to do the entire job!

    This guy spoke to an entity who told him to crack a deal in the den at 30% for riches. His conviction is insanely strong. He knew this was gonna make millions with absolute certainty somehow. I guess the track record and numbers prove success. Still, to predict so candidly making millions at 70% instead of staying ‘average’ at 100%. Deal with the devil
