      Little wonder that this beast is so damn heavy. It appears to be built to last forever! Unfortunately I am not and at 74 I’m not sure I could take advantage of its longevity at that price premium.

    This is probably the best video out there that shows what the grenadier is all about: Mechanically sturdy and made to last (at least it seems that's the idea and only time will tell).
    I saw a lot of comments around about how expensive is and the lack of some accesories (none of them offroad related). This is what you pay for: Beefy parts. The drawback is weight and that's why I think they did not went with a thicker bumber also.
    Unless some weird Achilles heel that would be expensive to fix is found in the future, I reckon they will hold their value pretty well.

    • @bijano7320
      @bijano7320 Месяц назад

      The small fuel tank in the operational Achilles heel IMHO. There have been no driving test failures that I’ve seen but such a limited range in factory fuel capacity is baffling.

    Red Winches are actually machined in the UK out of billet aluminium, and they supply the Ministry of Defence in the UK. Apparently, they're rated according to SAE J706. The contactors are Albright, not Albion; Red Winches also supply these, which I retrofitted to my Warn M8274.

    Really great undercarriage review, much more depth than anything out there Lots of good, but some really WEIRD/BAD choices as well! A PLASTIC oil pan?! In a truck with big beefy steel components everywhere else?! Who thought that was a good idea?! And a steering dampener hanging that low and that exposed should NOT be 'par for the course' on a truck this expensive and this engineered for true off-road durability and performance - it looks like there was room to tuck it up higher! Those plastic rocker-panel skirts - they look like perfect traps for road dirt/salt/mud - those are rust pockets waiting to happen. Probably easy enough to throw out, anyway. Lastly, those unslotted read brakes definitely DO do a lot of work in a full-loaded adventure/overland rig, which is what this heavy beefy INEOS is geared towards. Thanks again for putting this up on the lift and taking us through it!

    Also how durable do you think the uni's are over a CV.

    Take a look at the transfer case cable as it passes the rear of the front drive shaft. My cable was not secured and was hanging down and hitting the hex head nuts on the coupling making a terrible noise. It has the potential to catch and pull the cable off. I caught it in time and was able to secure it. I asked on the forums and there are several people who had the same issue of the cable not being secured from the factory and hitting the drive shaft.

Can you please post the spline counts of the axle and get a measurement on the diameter? My guess is that these will be close to dana 44's in strength and ring gear size. Finally some actual numbers on this truck and not just marketing bs.

      I’ll check the count. Seeing how the wheel load is carried by the hub and bearing units, I’m going to give it a go as pretty much a full footer wings the possibility a a fail on a drive flange on the hub?

    • @WilliamLarman
      @WilliamLarman Месяц назад

      Are the front hubs fully floating with adjustable, replaceable bearings, or are they unit bearings? Landcruisers and classic Defenders have full floaters all round, allowing the rig to safely keep rolling in the event of a broken axle. @@Dirtboxoverland

    What I'd like to know is how close is this underneath to a W-461? I have a theory that this is an upgraded G-wagon.

    • @user-pg1ud3cs4j
      @user-pg1ud3cs4j Месяц назад +1

      My guess it’s an evolution of the W463, as you know Magna build the G wagon and they did all the engineering for Ineos , to me they’ve perfected what should have been the replacement for the W463, butter still they put a better engine in it .
      For all you W463 owners I urge you to test one , you’ll be cashing your 2018 G and getting cash back and owning a better car .
      I know I did just that .

    • @fabulousoffroaddesigns5080
      @fabulousoffroaddesigns5080 Месяц назад

      @user-pg1ud3cs4j My theory is that it was the W-461 line that was moved from Steyr Austria to Hambach, France in late 2022, when the W-461 G-wagon went out of production. I believe Ineos will chase that military business with this same line.
      The line that built the Gen 1 W-463 and the Gen 2 W-463 along with the W-464 has stayed in production all along.

    • @user-pg1ud3cs4j
      @user-pg1ud3cs4j Месяц назад +1

      @@fabulousoffroaddesigns5080 I been to the factory in Hambach , it’s no old line my friend . There’s robots everywhere . The G wagons biggest problem was rust and human welding . Honestly this car is designed and engineered by the experts at Magna but it’s 21st century build techniques . My 2018 G wagon was in essence the same car that rolled off the production line back in 1979 rubber fitted windscreen and side and rear window . I cracked mine and guess what the frame was rusting in 14 months . You won’t get that problem on the grenadier , it’s modern bonding techniques .

    • @fabulousoffroaddesigns5080
      @fabulousoffroaddesigns5080 Месяц назад

      @@user-pg1ud3cs4j well the Magna factory in Steyr has about a dozen lines that build everything from Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Jaguar models I-PACE and E-PACE, the BMW 5 Series, the BMW Z4 and the Toyota GR Supra and the almost bankrupt Fisker Ocean. They are some of the most modern factory lines in the world.
