  • On Oct 4th 2017 I had a Rectocele Repair along with correcting damage to my rectum due to a major prolapse of my colon. I had 18 inches of my colon removed June 19th 2017. This is the last surgery to correct more of the damage done.
    This journey first started when I was diagnosed with Pelvic Congestion Syndrome in Dec 2014 which then to my hysterectomy in April 2016 when to help with chronic pain. It eventually lead me down this path to further corrective surgeries.

    It is called a Scopolamine patch (Transderm Scop) and it’s used for motion sickness or nausea!! I know this is an old video but for anyone reading this be careful with the patch. You don’t want to touch it with your fingers and then rub your eyes. It will make them dialate and keep them dilated for a good amount of time. Make sure you wash your hands if you touch it!

      I asked the question 🙋‍♀️ I’m in need of a rectocele repair only I’ve gone through pelvic floor exercises with a Pt who specializes in this field I learned a lot I will continue to apply these skills to my daily life forever but it’s kinda late you can’t put the Jeannie back in the bottle once it’s out if you understand what I mean by that? The exercises have not helped this prolapse that’s out of my vagina!! I just don’t know how much longer I can put off the surgery my quality of life is not what I’d like it to be at the present but my greatest fear is the moving your bowels after surgery how painful is it and are you able to go I know everyone’s different but I have to know I’m terrified can anyone address this part for me?

    Glad to hear that signs of healing are coming to you so soon. I hope that this is the beginning of the end for you, you've suffered enough!!! My anesthesiologist told me that she was giving me anti-nausea medication before surgery began; and mentioned the possibility of using a patch. I never had any problems with nausea after I woke up. Actually I was more than ready to eat, LOL. I cleaned my tray and they gave me plenty of food (starting with soft foods) almost immediately after I had gotten settled into my room.

      YT4Me57 that’s awesome!!!! I’ve been experiencing some nausea now on and off through my recovery but it was like this through my last surgery in June when I had the 18 inches of my colon removed.....it’s just the digestive track working things out.
      Thanks so much for the support!

      I agree it's the tubes they put in your throat.
      But the pain meds can make you itchy.
      I just had a rectocele yesterday. I wish you the best. I'm on over 20 + surgery also.
      I feel the same way with the patch behind the ear.
      My prayers are with you

    You taking about ur voice - this isn’t from a pain meds but from the intubation during anesthesia/ some people r fine some will have theirs vocal cords irritation.
    Let me know how are you doing today’s day if you feel like talking/ chatting.

    I agree with Christine about your voice and intubation from surgery. Also the opiates dry out your mouth and throat. Keeping well hydrated helps. Hope your doing better now. I am going to need this badly in the near future. I know it will be no fun. Are you able to have a normal bowel movement now? Something I have dreamed of since I was 16. I had my first baby very young. Thank you for sharing your experience.

    Side effects of pain pills narcotics cause dry throat. Scratchy throat. Your skin and nose and other places will be MARJORILY itchy. Try not to scratch you don't want to cause marks, you look great, and I'm anxious to talk to you, image man questions.
    Did you have to stay in the hospital for any of your surgeries? Thank you. I need a rectum prolapse. A rectocele Etc. Plus a very bad back and legs. Thank you for in advance.

    • @LoseitwithBlair
      @LoseitwithBlair  6 лет назад +1

      I'm not gonna sugar coat it......it was painful. I also had two massive internal hemorriods that were removed, so that only compounded the pain. Stay up on your pain meds, get lots of rest, and take whatever meds they give to keep your stools moving along so you don't get constipated. SUPER important!
      I would also ask for a pelvic floor PT specialist referral. I started my PT around 6 weeks (I'm 8 weeks now) and I am learning so much, and it's helping a ton. I'll be vlogging more of this journey with the PT to share since it's something I think ALL women should do but ESP women after these types of surgeries.
      When is your surgery?

      Maureen Smith there wasn’t much that was helping manage my pain/discomfort. Though I will say changing up my nutrition did help some. I would get a second opinion if your not getting the support you feel you should be getting

    Since you are ten months post-op, how are you doing? My surgery was 10 days ago (July 31, 2018), and my butt hole is killing me, still! I have to poop immediately when I feel the urge to go or else I'll soil myself. I have been through menopause and no longer have cramps; however, after this rectocele surgery, I feel a pressure/cramping sensation in my vagina (the asshole surgeion (no pun intended) did not tell me much about what to expect post-op or for how long to expect it). I am a high school teacher and have to return to work on Monday...students do not return until Thursday, and I just don't know how I am going to feel in 6 days. Hope you are well without lasting side effects.

      @@FffF-yi6kl hi there
      I am now 8 weeks post op and I feel...FANTASTIC! I was sooo nervous that things were going to be/feel different but they feel so much better. My prolapses were all grade 4 except for my rectocele it was a 2. No more pain, no more pressure, no more bulge. Barely any pain from the hysterectomy, everything was done vaginally. The most pain was the first 5 days and it was mostly from the front(cystocele). Urinating was frustrating the first week because it felt like I still had a full bladder, but the Dr said it was from having a catheter which was honestly the worst part about the whole thing. Having it taken out hurt! I have both my ovaries still, there has been no changes to my mood or libido..if anything I want it more now haha and if anything it is 10 times better than before! My husband says we need to buy the surgeon a huge fruit basket😉 I am SO HAPPY with my choice to have this surgery. It is a very intimate surgery, and there is alot of fear spread on the internet for this procedure. But remember...people only talk about the bad experiences! Hope this helps.

      Being Intimate with my husband after surgery has been nothing short of amazing. I'd say the first 3 or 4 times, we needed extra lube, and it was a tad ouchy(it was more ouchy before to be honest)..but once all systems were primed after those first few times the waterworks are back lol🤭 no more awful periods and nothing poking our of me anymore. I feel like a new woman! Don't be afraid, it was life changing for me ✨️

      @@melcoffgarcia5489 Hi thank you for your reply honestly I’m terrified I was told last fall I had a rectocele I was wth is that? I used to work in the field but I never heard of that! It was explained I might add I have a top surgeon who is a specialist in Gyn/ Urologist so he’s conservative wanted me to try pelvic floor exercises to strengthen my pelvic floor ok so what I went through just to find someone that specializes in pelvic floor PT is hard in my area there isn’t a lot who do this so I found a girl with her doctorate in this area she is excellent! My point is I’ve gone through 12 sessions applying them everyday 3 times a day and once the Jeannie is out of the bottle you can’t put it back in my case I might add I’ve always been physically fit eat well I’m small framed and still this happens what I’m asking my fear is post op are you able to move your bowels and how painful 😣 is it? Be honest please 🙏🏻

      @melcoffgarcia5489 Год назад

      @carla marquette I had a very hard first delivery which required an episiotomy so that is where I think I got my rectocele problem. I am going to be honest I had to have everything done to my pelvic floor and being 12 days post op I am down to a little pain from the rectocele only. It is just pressure and kinda just feels swollen. My bowels have always been bad so yes I am still having some issues with that but my doctor has me on 2 stool softners in the am and pm. 2 laxatives at night to avoid any constipation. I also am eating a very high fiber diet. This seems to work I will say I have a bowel movement every other day and it's soft and still a little painful but not as bad as I thought. The key is avoiding constipation limit cheese or foods that stop you up. I did have a complication with my bladder it was a uti. They treated it and I feel better. Urogynocologist is the best choice for these issues. Let me know if you have any other questions oh and my dr said rectocele pain may last for a couple months but not forever just remember to keep constipation under control. Best wishes.

I’ve been in pt and I’ve learned a lot but honestly I’m mad 😡 this should be introduced to you way before child bearing years so you are aware do you know I can’t find anyone that has heard of a rectocele ?? @carla marquette I have done the therapy but it was like a probe they put in me and I did like kegel exercises. My issues only got worse so I just decided to do the whole surgery and that was after years of fear. I have been dealing with these issue since I was 29. I guess I just got to a point that the anxiety tapered off with medication of course (lexapro) and decided to go ahead with it. I definitely agree that this is not talked about enough. I just can't believe how many women secretly suffer with these pelvic floor issues. My urogynocologist is going to get me in with a pelvic floor physical therapist soon but if only they would educate women on pelvic floor health sooner. Not only that but heavy lifting is really a bad thing for women too because over time it can cause prolapses. I see so many young girls in cross fit and I cringe because I feel like it may have an impact on them later. I have always been in shape and I hit the gym with weight training and the bulges at the end of the day were awful. After talking to the dr (urogyn) they said limit your lifting it's not good for women. Of course excercise is good but with moderation especially weights.
