"Felicity Shagwell, Shagwell by name shag very well by reputation" has been my way of introducing myself in chats and discord servers for 8 years now. And most ppl don't get the reference 😢
I remember the promos for Austin Powers II. They said "If you only see one movie this summer, go see Star Wars. But if you see 2 movies, go see Austin Powers" or something like that. It was hilarious.
@JamesVSCinema still love that Fat Bastard is the same voice for Shrek! That's wild too! Can only do the one Scottish accent! If it ain't broke don't fix it 💯 👌🔥😎🤣🤣
So many shows and film series casually write out the second lead character, often the female lead, and the hero just gets a new replacement, with little-to-sometimes-no explanation whatsoever other than it's a new love interest of the sequel, that I think it's amazing this film lampshaded that with Vanessa just suddenly being a fembot. And that Elizabeth Hurley clearly came back and still shot these scenes for it is amazing. (Also, Rebecca Romijn was the first Mystique, before JLaw.)
Slight nitpick here: Watches are typically designed to be worn on the left hand. While wallets (back then) are typically kept in the right back pocket. But the sign of the cross is supposed to be up, down ,left, right.
@@MilkT0ast I'll nitpick the nitpick. The watch they are referring to (which would have been the fashion at the time of the phrase being coined) would be a pocket watch, which would be in the front right vest pocket. And your wallet would be in the left breast pocket. It wouldn't be until much later that vests would fall out of fashion. Trousers (what we generally call pants today) and carrying your wallet in the back right pocket instead of the left breast pocket came later. And of course wristwatches took over from pocket watches and are traditionally worn on the left wrist instead of the right vest pocket. So modern men would follow the pattern spectacles, testicles, watch, wallet, but if you go back maybe a century (not sure on the dates, and the changes happened earlier in the US vs Britain) the phrase as used in the movie would be correct.
@JamesVSCinema youre one of my fave reaction channels! Been watching you for a few years now! Bouncing the ball off number 2's head and asking if he wants to cry is a reference to the movie "the Great Santini" where Robert Duvall plays a airforce officer who's incredibly abusive to his family, is a pretty harrowing movie but Duvall is brilliant in it.
I didn't remember the legendary voice actor Tony Jay reading the opening scroll! (Shere Khan from TaleSpin, Megabyte from ReBoot, Elder God from The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, The Lieutenant from Fallout, etc.) Darn, I miss him.🥲
"The way he threw him at the pole!!!" Poor Mini-Me 🤣🤣🤣 The abuse he and his stunt dolls take is hilarious. More to come in Goldmember 🤕 RIP to Verne Troyer
For these "James Vs" ones, I think you'd love "Space Cowboys" and "Eddie the Eagle". They're both amazing films that'll give you some good laughs and get you in the feels.
grew up with these movies so it's really cool seeing someone watch these movies for the first time and I can't wait for your goldmember reaction. Also really enjoy the new James vs series much love.
It’s coincidental that this week marks the 25th anniversary release of The Spy who Shagged Me so perfect timing on the upload, James. 👍 Austin Powers is one of my favorite trilogies of all time and I love rewatching all 3 films. Mike Myers is hilarious and a genius and everytime I rewatch I always forget he plays BOTH the hero and the villain in the same film, if that’s not range, then I don’t know what is. RIP Verne Troyer aka Mini Me 🙏🥺
Fate played a cruel trick on me when I saw this in the theater. I had moved home after my first love broke it off. I had moved several states so we could be together after her family moved away. I had to delay the move three months and in that time, her love for me dimmed. By the time I got there, the love I once felt was cold and diminished. I moved back to my state two years later. I was still nursing a broken heart. It was a real gut punch when I lost her, young love is not ready for dark hallways. I was pretty comfortable around this time. Went and saw this movie to have a laugh. My ex is in two very prominent scenes. I had not expected that. There she was, larger than life and on the big screen. My heart nearly fell apart again. A decade or so later, we were both in amazing relationships. She contacted me on social media. I had lunch with her in LA. Her scene was filmed over two days. No speaking part, but she was a very prominent dancer in the movie. Had my closure and I wish her well. But holy moley, seeing her on the big screen was a real shocker.
James! If you want something a little lesser known that you may be interested in if you haven't seen it is Man With the Iron Fist! Directed by and staring RZA (from Wu Tang), written by RZA and Eli Roth, along with Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu (Including others I don't want to spoil if you want to watch hahaha) in it! It's a fun watch even if it doesn't wind up on RUclips or Patreon !
Interesting how these movies aged, because i think Goldmember might be the one i remember and quote the most even though people didnt like it as much at release
27:00 I know a few ppl that don't like them movies/shows 😂 But love them all. I watch everything anything at least once. There's good/great movies i seen that i probably wouldn't watch again. Will i wouldn't look for them but if someone was watching or wanted to watch it i would.
My roommate loved Cat in the Hat as a kid and would watch it once a year. I brought up Austin Powers and she had never seen the movies before. After watching all three movies she told me I ruined the lens she watches Cat in the Hat through.
I recall the time the first Austin Powers came out. I watched it in the theatre with some other buddies and we all laughed our collective butts off together. I tried to get her to go. She wouldn’t. Eventually it came out on VHS, I rented it for her to see. The day I brought it home, her sister was visiting. I put it on and all they could do was ridicule, be derisive, and mock the movie and my sense of humour. Thirty minutes into the movie I stood up and turned the movie off. They both exclaimed, “What are you doing? We were watching that!” I replied, “The watch it on your own time and your own dime” I walked out and took it back to the video store. They had no sense of haha at all! A total waste of my time.
The Austin Powers humor reminds me of Monty Python's Flying Circus episodes which were just as silly, goofy and sometimes fall on the floor hilarious. Look up Bicycle Repair Man or the Dead Parrot sketch. Just retarded in a good way. Btw- love your film selections. Fabulous and this was greatYeah, this was the best. That routine of - is that a great big........(fill in the blanks) gets me every time. Goldmember is really good too. I like silly humor, especially since everyone seems too serious nowadays .
This is my favorite of the Austin Powers trilogy. That intro is what all men be feeling after a breakup, and the additions of Mini Me, Felicity Shagwell, and Fat Bastard were great. Also Dr. Evil was flowing better than most rappers today.
I really wish they carried on the this franchise past a trilogy. They could have done it the same way as the Bond franchise. Mike Myers does his run of 3 films, then rest the franchise, after a while have a different comedian put their spin on the character. Each actor that has played James Bond has brought something different to the table, maybe it could have worked for Austin Powers too.
Yup, anybody watching Sunny and doesn't rewind cause the how annoying the volume that kittens make and need kitten socks to walk like astronauts. No comedy bones. But anyways, Dr Evil. Remember those old Go-Go-Gadget cartoons? Inspector Gadget and his arch nemesis Dr Evil in the chair with the cat? Yup. Not sure, don't remember Dangermouse's arch? Hmmmz. But again anyways, LOWER THE GLOBE!!! Onto Goldmember? Yes please.

Also, not sure how you feel about Woody Allen but 'What's Up Tiger Lily?' is an underappreciated gem. The jerry springer bits are so freaking funny. Also rob lowe is perfect casting for young Number 2
"You can start by buying me a drink" WOW
The reason this feels so "Star Wars" heavy in places is because this came out the SAME SUMMER as "The Phantom Menace."
I remember the promos for Austin Powers II. They said "If you only see one movie this summer, go see Star Wars. But if you see 2 movies, go see Austin Powers" or something like that. It was hilarious.
Watching Heather Graham enter the scene still gives me butterflies
Mini-Me and Fat Bastard are just the two most brilliant and hysterical additions!
They are both so hilarious lmfaooo Fat Bastard at the end 😂

"Yes, we... knew all along, sadly." 😂
That is the funniest line from any movie, from Basil Exposition.
Spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch... How to remember how to do the Catholic cross
LMFAO, gotta stay groovey
That's my line everytime I leave the house

Next Seth Green flick....Idle Hands! Even had a very brief Tom DeLonge from blink-182 cameo and The Offspring play as themselves at the school dance!
