Some of the laughter in this is the best thing, but your line "F**k that, I'd've smashed with a floppy" had me laughing for a solid 5 minutes, I had to pause the video and rewind to compose myself.

"Flock of Seagulls" was a band from the 80's and there was a gas shortage in the 70's.
24:58, The malfunctioning chair wasn't part of the script. The chair really was malfunctioning, and Myers amazingly stayed in character while it was happening. They decided to keep it in the movie for fun.

There was a really bad gas shortage from 1970-74 and there were huge lines to fill your tank and there were restrictions on when you could buy gas. A Flock Of Seaguls was a new wave group in the 80's most famous for the song "I ran" and the singer had been a hairdresser and had a very unique haircut. Which was referenced by Samual L Jackson in Pulp Fiction.

In the 1970s there was a major energy crisis and gas stations all across America ran out of gas, so that's the gas shortage Austin referred to. In the 1980s the popular group Flock of Seagulls had their major hit song "I Ran so Far Away" and was the 80s reference, so he said those 2 things were pretty much all that the 70s and 80s were about and got her to jump ahead to 1999. It's too bad though as they both missed out on 2 of the best decades of the 20th Century.

If they do another Austin Powers I wish they'd retcon Vanessa's death. (Maybe the real her was frozen by Evil and she's the fish out of 90's water?) I find Hurley very under rated as an actress and feel she and Myers had the most chemistry and strongest arc in the series.

It became a bit of a running joke over the decades to cast out the demons in any particular situation (like when your little brother walks in you room uninvited or Mom won't make cake for dessert), partly because it's almost comical the way the priest in the film just screams it over and over and over and over!😆 you're like, 'Alright dude, Christ is compelling it already!"🤣
Was a great reaction! These films are so fun, we still quote it in our house, particularly the 'Get in mah belly!' and a set of ribs can't be grilled without the baby back rib song being sung by SOMEONE in the area!

The VW Bug joke went over my head when I was a kid. The joke is Austin is from the UK, so he only knows how to drive RHD cars. When he got behind the Bug, it was LHD so he didn't know how to drive it.

3:11 Myers wanted Liz to return to play Vanessa again but she was already comittted to another project which made it impossible. But she did agree to spend a day filming the opening scene to explain her absence.
Heartfelt sympathy to you Derek. I lost my Mom a little over a year ago and my youngest brother seven months ago. The loss will always be with you but it will get easier as time passes.

I honestly think this is the best, pound for pound, Austin Powers movie. probably because it just goes straight into it and doesn’t need a set up. I can’t wait for him to see the two new characters.
I really have a hard time picking a favorite, but I do agree SWSM is the most consistently funny.

It's good, but it recycles a lot of the same gags from the first film. It helps that it introduces the new characters though.

Three of the funniest movies of all time . Mini me and Austin fight had me in the theater crying my sides were killing me cause I was laughing so hard . When I seen it for the first time . Gold member is my very favorite can’t wait till ya see it .

Music Enthusiast Fact: Dr. Evil (Mike Myers) calls one of his creations The Alan Parsons Project, spoofing the name of a band that enjoyed popularity during the late 1970s and early 1980s. In 1999, Alan Parsons released his album The Time Machine (1999) and a remix of the title track includes snippets of Dr. Evil's dialogue from the movie.
Location Location Fact: When Austin (Mike Myers) and Felicity (Heather Graham) are driving through the English countryside, Austin remarks on how the English countryside looks nothing like southern California. The entire movie was filmed in southern California. This scene was spur of the moment, with the dialogue improvised. This is evidenced by Felicity saying "What?" when Austin asks her the question.
Gas shortage was a reference to the 70’s during the oil crisis and flock of seagulls was a reference to the 80’s, they were a British musical group.

I think the Austin Powers movies might be the hardest I've ever seen you laugh on the channel, JL. It's honestly amazing just how good this trilogy is. It's cheesy late 90's comedy but it's so fun.

I laughed more during this reaction than I ever have watching this channel. I think your Mom did the right thing by not responding, it could have been a scam. But DAMN what a missed opportunity. Also, condolences to Derrick, losing your Mom is a tough thing to go through. My Mom died twenty years ago and I miss her very much and think about her all the time.
