Becca, I think you should team up with Dieter for some reviews, you two would make a great team! Both of you have a very fresh and enjoyable nature while talking to a camera!
I am not into photography. I think the review and the reviewer is what would make you watch this to the end. Best review I ever seen for any product hands down.
remember this is a p & s. while 1200 seem excessive as compare to a dslr BODY, remember you buy a lens. and most likely more than one lens! considering what it can do in such a small form factor, it is well worth it.
Really great review. Straight up covers major pros and cons. Interesting camera for sure, but please: WHAT was this review shot on? It looks SUPERB!!!!
I think it's overpriced. None of the previous FIVE versions of the RX100 lowered their prices. The price just got higher and higher. They forgot that this is still just a point and shoot.
They, ppl who film review, never shoot themselves entirely with the camera they're reviewing. Isn't it the whole point? If the camera is so so great, why are you switching cameras? Film the whole video with the camera you're reviewing.
The cinematography you guy's used for this video is SUPERB! I haven't (for a long time) seen such greatly shooted video from verge. And who is that presenter(host)? She is friggin amazing. You guys should include her in most of the reviews. You guys nailed this review. Simply awesome 👍 Kudos to Verge👏👏👏👍
If Sony wanted put a mic in their RX line, they would have done it ages ago. It goes to provo they are not going to add mic input to RX models. They think it is just a point-n-shoot pocket camera and that's it. Pity! Their marketing department needs serious replacements.
For $1,200 you might as well buy an a6500 for the same price. Sure you'd have to buy a lens, but you'd be getting a far more capable camera. Bigger sensor, mic input, better battery life, no overheating (at least not in my 1 year of experience). Unless being able to put the camera in your pocket is your number one priority. Great review and I've always been curious about the RX100 line, but just can't get over the price tag for an advanced point and shoot.
And how big would the combo be with that kind of focal range? 10times bigger? Even with kit lens it is much bigger and not really much more capable. Can’t do 24fps shooting or 250fps video, so in some regards even less capable.:)
Beautifully photographed and explained video. Seems that the RX100 vi as a day time camera with decent lighting would be a blast to walk around with. If planning night shoots I'd either have my used RX100 ii or Sony A7.
Finally, a review by someone who loves to shoot photos and video, who knows how to review and make a highly entertaining & informative one to boot. Since Sony is updating the MK5, my key question is: will I go for glass and ND, or for the features on the MK6? I'm undecided.
A) Becca, you rock! I had my "afraid of change" hat on nice and tight when the video started, and you blew that thing right of my head. Great job! B) i bought my RX100 M3 for my trip to Kilimanjaro, and I couldn't have been more stoked about it! It's amazing!
i am looking for a camera with good zoom, picture, good enough for night shots and stuff, a small camera that would be allowed in concerts and events, would this be 1 of em? or which1 would you recommend.
Great review! I'm glad each model in the RX100 line can stand alone. I picked up a RX100 a couple of years ago with cashback from Sony and I've been looking for an upgrade, so far, it seems like the RX100 3 gives me all I need - faster lens, articulated screen and pop-up EVF (is a nice bonus) - for the cheapest price, although the G7 X II seems like a pretty worthy contender at the same price point. I do miss my Powershot S95 though.
Great review! Long time Verge watcher and reader and Becca is awesome in her review. Becca is technical but not deep in the weeds to lose an amateur tech nerd. Becca also seems to enjoy talking about the subject of the review and not going through the motions of oh great something I have to do here. That enthusiasm and energy is refreshing. Becca is still very professional in the review but makes it sound like talking to a friend about whether or not to purchase the camera. Thumbs up.
Trading in the F1.8 to F2.8 max aperture and built-in ND for extra zoom range is going to be a deal breaker for some people. Also audio input is something people have been looking for in the RX100 lineup since Mk3 and we still haven't gotten it. The single action addition to the EVF is great. But. Does the camera still shut down everytime you push the EVF back into the body? It's become pretty annoying to have to boot it back up after putting the EVF away EVERY SINGLE TIME! Also, the knurling on the control ring around the lens is new if you notice that sort of stuff. I like the new one.
Sony explicitly stated that each mark of the rx100 series is technically not supposed to be an "improvement" over previous marks but rather to a complimentary
Great review. I've had a few RX 100s and she is spot on about the compromises between the V and the VI. Love the new EVF design too but... Becca, did you also find that popping up the EVF changes the diopter setting? I have this problem as do a number of people on the dpreview forums.
So I purchased the V very recently and I HATE it. The build quality is terrible - it won’t last a month even with a case. The screen mechanism is feeble and I question if it was designed to be breakable. Wish I had returned it whilst I could.
A year later, and all the people upgrading to the VII means that you can pick up a great condition VI for half of that $1,200. Biggest problem fixed! I enjoyed this video but thought that the lack of sample images and video was a bit odd.
This is a fantastic review! As for the camera, I would rather have kept the 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 lens. My perfect camera would probably be an RX100 VI but with the V's lens, and with weather sealing.
What’s the most important feature on a camera for you?
That's OK for not having touch on it..
It should be reviewed by Becca
mic input😭why SONY why!!!
Image quality. Needs to be MUCH better than a top tier phone for me to be tempted.
Battery life, hence waiting for Mark 7 and keeping my Mark 4.
if only all the verge reviewers showed as much enthusiasm as she does
how about deiter bohn and stefan etienne
Have you seen Chris and Jordan from dp review ? Lol
Damn, Is it just me feeling that she's totally an amazing reviewer!
I thought he is a young boy. He sounds like a boy though.
mg23 no she doesn't
@dn08Hf1xK0q1 inappropriate
@dn08Hf1xK0q1 sorry 🤷
Hey Verge, you better keep this one. Very fresh review!
The review couldn't have been better🙂👍
Good job
@@colorless_man7325 Get a life, troglodyte.
Amazed at how honest this review sounds and feels. Good stuff!
Would love it if Becca reviewed cameras more often, loved hearing about them from a photo/video person! Go Becca go!
Exactly!
Alright Verge, you have an amazing reviewer here. We need more Becca!
Becca, I think you should team up with Dieter for some reviews, you two would make a great team! Both of you have a very fresh and enjoyable nature while talking to a camera!

Best review I ever seen for any product hands down.
Great review. I want to see more reviews with you❣️
Well you are a good orator
definitely agree!
Review should've been shot entirely on a RX100vi, or the shots labeled instead of mixing footage.
but literally every scene shot on the RX100 VI is labeled at the top left corner dude, what r u talking about??
great hands-on Sony camera review! greetings from Lithuania :)
this is the best review ive seen so far for this camera.
remember this is a p & s. while 1200 seem excessive as compare to a dslr BODY, remember you buy a lens. and most likely more than one lens! considering what it can do in such a small form factor, it is well worth it.
To The Verge
Going forward Becca should do ALL your camera reviews.... She is brilliant 😀
Still rocking my Sony Rx100 MK 1, Still brilliant 🔥
Life hack for mark 5 or before users: flip ur camera screen upwards 90° and flip the camera around and u get a 90° flip down screen
Does not work for videos unless flipped back in post.
@@ConsumerDV you probably will export it to post on social media, and ig allows you to flip it so ;-;
Really great review.
You're forgetting this is Sony we're talking about XD HAHA
That's not true in the US. Prices across the line have been cut.
Same can be said for those ridiculously priced flagship camera phones.
Solid review. A friend is looking for a camera and your review is the most straight forward and understandable to a new photographer.
Yo your reviewing style is super cool and chill! Also aesthetic A+
Hi, did you use an external audio recorder when indoors? Your voice and the video images seem not to be in sync.
For my money, I would rather get full frame a7 first-gen
Others will have a different opinion. You are comparing apples and oranges.
Becca is AMAZING. Great review!
Would love to know what camera and lenses are responsible for these parts of the video 0:58-1:16
A LOT of this review looks superb. Wondering too.
They, ppl who film review, never shoot themselves entirely with the camera they're reviewing. Isn't it the whole point? If the camera is so so great, why are you switching cameras? Film the whole video with the camera you're reviewing.
As a video maker myself I can't get over how perfectly this video is planned shot and edited
Great review. Like your enthusiasm. And i am happy i didnt replace my mark 5.
Yo The Verge better keep getting People like her to do videos.
Great review! Best Verge review I have seen in just about ever! No snarky put downs of competitive devices, great energy, really well done!
I do love the evf too. /great review
Love this review! And Becca’s energy 😊 plus that yellow coat is stunning 💛⭐️
NEED MORE VIDEOS FROM BECCA!
You should be doing the rest of the verge videos. Best verge video host
First time watching your review on the Verge! Great work! I was completely interested the whole time
Great Review...do u think the Mark 4 is the best value version for this model

Love your reviews Becca! Keep it up!
The Verge has come a long way. Congratulations.
Great review. Covers everything I needed to know plus I really enjoyed the presenter’s enthusiasm and humour.
Presenter is so watchable and knowledge. Got the IT factor. Made me want that camera!! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Love your review. Please do more! Especially the camera ones.
great review!! like your enthusiasm😁😁

Great overview! Really like the way you present! If you have any "How to use a Camera" videos, I would probably be able to watch them. ;)
Really great perspective and review. A great new addition to your team.
I did not want the review to end ,. The enthusiasm was contagious !!
If it doesn't have a mic, how are we supposed to record sound. Is there a way to put mic extensions?
I’m kinda new to cameras but without the external microphone thing you can still record and hear yourself right
So much more informative than most other videos about this camera and the series! Thanks 🙏🏻!!

Great review! What camera did you record this on?
I Thought The thumbnail was an animated Brazilian kid vlogging.😂
Great review. Got the mark IV a couple months ago too and it's great. Would love to see her in more reviews!
I love her! She really enjoy and gives positive vibes to deliver the content. Please made more video of her.
hiii!!! what camera are you using to record this video? very nice thank you for sharing your wisdom with us
Really enjoyed the review, right into the point, enthusiastic, confident and concise. Becca definitely has the formula I’d like to see more.
Great review! i'm on the fence about this or the x100f .
love this review, awesome job, great to see some new Verge talent emerging!
So what is a good point and shoot that has it all, kind of?
Finally, a review by someone who loves to shoot photos and video, who knows how to review and make a highly entertaining & informative one to boot.

The Sony Reptilian Xterminator too high of a price? I mean, i think risking our lives is too high a price. Keep asking questions
Can I use a powerbank simultaneously with it to make videos while charging it through powerbank at the same time?
i am looking for a camera with good zoom, picture, good enough for night shots and stuff, a small camera that would be allowed in concerts and events, would this be 1 of em? or which1 would you recommend.

Awesome review, more please Becca! 😄
Awesome review. Loved it. Totally loved your energy and the vibe you were giving out. You're not a celeb, but just so you know, you've got a fan. Lol.

When you have 4K videos in reviews like this could you guys also upload in 4K, it would be really nice! Great video!
Great review and awesome reviewer 😊👍👌

Great review! Reviewer was really in-depth on the product. Hope we see her covering more tech soon.
Love this review, great job Becca
She's good at this! Really did enjoy the review
Absolutely amazing review, Becca. The entire thing seemed honest and so entertaining. Please do more reviews!!
The best The Verge review ever!
Well, do watch a few hosted by Dieter Bohn... He's also witty and enthusiastic and nerdy and great.
Becca should do more reviews! This video was seriously fantastic.
Good that The Verge now is full of young really talented presenters!
Just got this one for $400 used.
Nice, I got mine for 350 👍🏽
I love the turn-on-ready-to-shoot-speed, and resolution
Good thorough review. Very professional!
I want your raincoat what brand is it?
How does it shoot in low light like concerts...Thanks..
Can she do every review from now on? Total natural on the camera. Loved watching this review and I don't even really care about the camera.
So I purchased the V very recently and I HATE it. The build quality is terrible - it won’t last a month even with a case. The screen mechanism is feeble and I question if it was designed to be breakable. Wish I had returned it whilst I could.
The mark VI isn't supposed to replace the mark V. They cater to different users. That's why previous version are still being produced.
thanks for the nice review video 👍✌️
Great review first of all. I have the mark 5, and this new one with the new view finder and the extended zoom, makes it really compelling.
5 axis or bounce flash or weatherproofing? Any of those? I can forgo f1.8 if it has 5axis
Great review!! Totally nailed every single use case for this camera and really went into the pros and cons :)
A year later, and all the people upgrading to the VII means that you can pick up a great condition VI for half of that $1,200. Biggest problem fixed! I enjoyed this video but thought that the lack of sample images and video was a bit odd.
Can u do a review about the best point and shoot cameras around.
Would appreciate it very much
This is a fantastic review!
As for the camera, I would rather have kept the 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 lens. My perfect camera would probably be an RX100 VI but with the V's lens, and with weather sealing.
The updated version of Mark V, which is called Mark VA, still has the f/1.8 lens with the all new internal guts of Mark VI.
Very helpful, I think il keep an eye out for the mk5 variant!!
