Tenniscoats (テニスコーツ) playing "Baibaba Bimba" in Ebisu, Tokyo, Japan.
Read the whole article here: en.blogotheque....
Directed by Colin Solal Cardo
Sound & mix by François Clos
Produced by Chryde for La Blogotheque
"Saya sang the melody as if it came from deep within the song, a base strong enough to frame and repeat. Coming down the stairs, walking along the railroad tracks, over the noise of passing trains, she played with the surroundings to give rhythm to the song, taking advantage of everything she passed -- some steps, a sewer cover, a fence, to cover her 'Bimba.' We just had to let her take us, which we happily did."

My last comment seems to be five months old. I don't care anymore. Whenever I feel like watching it I will comment again from now on. Fourteen years, and it's still one of the greatest things I have ever experienced on this site. This video has done everything from simply helping me relax and focus on the beauty out there, after a rough week at work; to honestly taking the edge off overtly more hard and trying times. On this viewing, it is just enjoying a good and nostalgic time finishing off a glass of red before I go to sleep. Simple! ❤
I grew up with this video. I swear I am its #1 fan. No shade! But the point is, this is something a masterpiece. I can't explain it
Hold the train friend! I started listening to this masterpiece since the womb and I'm the biggest fan. I'm kidding of course. Fill your heart with great music and have a blessed day friend.
sir! i must challenge this! for i am the number 1 fan!
there's something about how the music permeates the grey rainy sky, the bleak architecture and the passing trains that creates an atmosphere not necessarily depressing but beautifully-desolate.
You couldn't have described that better!
Overcast Japanese Suburbs Aesthetic I call it
I've been coming back to this video so many times over the last 5 years and each time I've been touched by it. Tenniscoats show us how creating music could be so much fun, while inspiring and revitalizing our lives. Saya's vocal timbre is exceptional as usual. This video is happiness, unadulterated. It is no longer just a performance, it presents a living aesthetic.
same such wonder energy they resonate
still here 13 years
Yes, Sir/Madam. Respect. Twin souls enjoying this beautiful, playful experience over and over again when needed.
Grupasos los de entonces
There's all that other stuff on the one side, and then there are those rare few YT videos that you keep coming back over the years. This is one of those gems for me. It always makes me smile - and on a rare occasion makes me quite tearful too. A perfect package of warmth available at any time. Much appreciated.
I remember when my brother would play this for me when I was younger and hearing it 12 years later is making me really emotional, honestly a masterpiece.
Oh my god has it been 9 years?? I still remember when this came out and how entranced I was, still one of the most perfect magical little things on YT. Every quirk, flub, flaw, every bit of competing ambient noise, somehow makes it even more perfect. Such a special video
We seem like similar disparate souls with a unifying need to come back to such a beautiful and quirky little video. To come back at different times to watch, sometimes getting tearful as a release from personal hard times. But always tears with a smile on my face. :)
In my blood river the best song of theirs, this second best 🤗☺️☺️☺️☺️
I know that neighborhood in Tokyo yo!! Like to hear folk music in an urban jungle. omg the nostalgia. I was living there when this came out.
Try 11
@@lordblazer what neighborhood is it?
this is one of the best videos on youtube
Sometimes I'll have gone about my day when nothing particular happened. Baibaba Bimba. I think of this video I saw on RUclips nearly a decade ago and land here and get to be entranced for 7:25 minutes. The rest of the day becomes easier.
Everything about this video excites my senses. The camera is fantastic. The colors. Following the sticks Saya drops on the steps. The tracking shot behind the businessman's back perfectly encapsulates his pleasant loneliness. The trains on the track coming in perfect timing with the score. Even the happy little accident of getting the two audio(?) people helping the cameraman. Keeping in the audio of Takashi's voice and his comedic quibbles. The rushing run up to the third train during the climax of the song. Hushing around the guitar's sound hole. Saya dropping the melodica tube at the very end, and picking it up in one fell swoop. Perfection.
I love the way she adds in little noises here and there with the sticks or on the fence. It's a nice, real, childish quality to the music, but makes it so good!
Making breakfast in the UK and it's closing in on 9:30 PM I do not care. Blasting this good vibe out while rustling up some scrambled eggs with bacon bits and some deliberately slightly burnt toast. Good vibes. Make your own rules!
Oh my. This is my favorite Take Away Show ever. Those two are so full of joy, life, and beauty..
I make a point of checking in on a few old videos once per year. This is always so special. So playful and free spirited. Makes me tearful in the best of ways.
I do this too, and I'm just discovering tenniscoats now. Hopefully this comment brings you back to these warm sounds and memories
@@evergreenappreciator Much love. Two years seems like the perfect lapse of time to comment back. Like a hand written letter about nothing important being lost in the mail and ending up travelling around the world. :)
I haven't watched Take Away Shows in a while, but I can say I totally missed it after watching this one!
So we hope !
That is why I came back to this view today.
Vasil Shkutov exactly :')
Watching this video was like hugging your teddy bear underneath your covers when you were a kid. It's so rare to see people happy in their element - expressing themselves with honesty and such purity. I love when the train fades away (@6:27) it echoes and sounds like a chorus is echoing behind them.
she's like some kind of acoustic wizard. everything she does ends up fitting perfectly, even though it's clearly haphazard experimentation.
Still returning for repeated viewings. So charming and uplifting. The perfect pick me up when I've had a rough day and I need a little faith in humanity. :)
Yes, I will continue to come back and enjoy. A decade later. Those beautiful oldschool moments when YT used to be something where you could stumble upon such magical and perfect moments. Smile my day away with this.
This is easily the best Take Away Show I've seen/heard and I hadn't even heard of this band before watching this. This is gorgeous beyond belief. It makes me cry.
This has to be of my most favorite videos on RUclips. I've been listening to this song for years and this video captures her and her music beautifully.
thank you!
Six months is too long to go without some nostalgic and beautiful vibes in my life. I have no shame in my soul for commenting again. ♥
I think this is my favorite, it is truly a "concert on the move" and the way she uses stuff around them to make music is wonderful. I keep coming back to this clip every couple of months.
This is a Very very Very Very VERY Valuable Piece OF ART
I think the reason I love this performance is because of the emotion of the way she sings rather than how she says the words. Plus it just makes me happy just listening to it.
I especially like the sound by the train caming across
me too!
i was fortunate enough to support tenniscoats in tasmania a couple of years ago - they are lovely folk who play beautiful music!
chanced upon this video again after 8 years, still sounds just as amazing as it was. especially when the train passes, somehow it feels magical.
It's fantastic how simple this is. Simplicity = beauty.
Every time I watch this video, I come away feeling so much happier than I was before.
I want to watch this everyday for the rest of my life
Not a lot of people talk about this video. It's so pure in sound and emotion. Omg. It's frustrating how not a lot of people know of this video.
Coming back for 10 years now!
Wow! A brand new kind of music! this is true WORLD music. Not only playing on the instruments of the world, but playing WITH the whole world. Everything in this video's a part of the song. Every step, passing person train, and blow of wind. Beautifully composed by God or Love or whoever did it. This is true art.
It's almost 10 pm right now. I should go to bed, but I need a little something to put me in the mood for counting sheep. Oh, I know where to turn to: A video that I have watched countless times, and has never failed to lift my spirits!
I agree, the sounds of the trains passing add an incredible element to this. I've never heard of these two, but I loved the sound of them! Time to do some research. Glad to see another Take Away show! :D
This whole performance is amazing, but the first 30 seconds of this video is something special.
i haven't listened to this in over a year but at six in the morning suddenly it's undeniably playing in my head, it did not disappoint
This could be one of the most beautiful songs I had ever heard.
yo it's been how many years but every time i come back to this i still marvel at how she does THAT. How does she know that doing that specific thing will fit into the music???? im no music expert so all i can do is just sit here and cry
wow, when the train starts rolling into the station around 2:00, it sounds like it's just part of the song! amazing!
I listened to this so long ago but forgot write the name of the artist down. I would often think of this song and even search for it but with out fruition. I found it again today by chance and I will never let it go. Tenniscoats
me too.... ( heh)
marcioz, a brazilian artist, mixed this song. It's sad as fuck.
come back
One of the most beautiful things I have heard in a while.
I love how she got that semi-stern-looking businessman to smile a genuinely pleased smile... who wouldn't smile while walking by this loveliness?
Really like this. The sound of the trains passing and the sound of the girls voice is really soothing. well to me.
ur so deep
Thanks for posting. watched many times on La Blogotheque, but great to have on RUclips. The best video of all time? Just fantastic in too many ways to count! It's...so alive. OK, it's hard to describe. I love the way this comes out different time they perform it. The studio version on Tan Tan Therapy is also joyous. Thank you!
OK , I LOVE THIS! ONCE MORE! EVERY YEAR THIS THE BEST!!!!
Merci d'avoir immortalisé cet instant la blogothèque !
It's like a really really good cup of tea, so much warmth and depth.

haha that's so cool ! thank you !
That was pretty cool
respect
that´s... awsome!
thank you! i just explored the streets surrounding the area and listened to this peaceful song. it was actually kinda amazing
It's so great how each la blogotheque video shares that one musical piece of brilliance. for instance in this it's the percussion of dropping the sticks down the stairs and dragging the melodica along the fence
the greatest ever
I don't understand how 98 people say they don't like this video/song . 10 years have passed and I still find it very cute and special.
2024 and I’m still thinking this is a masterpiece of cuteness ❤️✨
I am listening to this after 4 months now and it is still so delightfully fresh and authentic
It's been that long! A former friend showed me this band. I love this stuff. Soft and beautiful.
I keep coming back to this video. Especially when i feel like the world is turning upside down. The video somehow soothes the uneasiness. Like its trying to tell me that everything will eventually be alright
Sonotoori
Magical - such an absolute vibe. Thank you Tenniscoats!
Awesome. I can't tell you how often the first little ditty gets stuck in my head and comes out my lips.
I fell in love with this song, this moment.... so beautiful...
this album is a banger to this day, wish Oetsu To Kanki No Nanoriuta had a music video too
This warms the cockles of my heart
Daniel Fishbayn how about the sub cockles?
That...was beyond incredible. Acoustically, superb. Visually, so casual and normal, but so professional at the same time--lots of good timing going on to capture all the transitions in the audio. There was some real chemistry between the crew and those two amazing artists.
genious. there is no other word for this. or LaBlogotheque, just pure genius.
you my friend are a visual genius to get this just so!
Scrolling throught your guys comments is just beautiful how many of you kick ass love this music
My friend sent me this, needless to say I was really impressed. Hell we are still talking about it, even now. It must be good
I love this so much. Thank you artists and youtube poster.
Brilliant, true artistry.
The intro is the absolute best.
A mid-week oldschool Wednesday revisit. Still so good.
I just wish I could explain my love for this piece of music.
What an amazing Performance!
this is so beautiful. I've watched it more than 5 times now
this is like one of the best song i have heard in awhile
My heart needed this.
Goose bumps each time i listen to this song. Totemo aishiteru.
She is truly an Artist,This is truly Music.
This is so crazy and perfect
Truly AMAZING.
This is one of my favourites.
