It was on an October night, in Paris. We went to a pub, made some noise outside with a German band. Kele, Bloc Party's singer, went out. We asked him to sing. He said no. We asked again, he said 'yes but'. Then, we asked again...

I could see Kele was really reluctant to do this. It was awkward to the point where I wanted them to just leave him alone. That said, I’m conflicted. It was such a selfish joy. So simple and beautiful. I know it’s years later, but if Kele happens to be reading this please know that what you did that day is timeless and so very appreciated. Thank you.
Agreed, he clearly wasn't really up for it, but what it ended up as is one of my favourite music videos of all time.

He goes out of the bar smiling while talking about singing, then says "I would love to sing a song", "I want in"...
Doesn't seem like he's forced to do anything. More like worrying it won't sound good, which makes this performance even better.
@@ronkare I agree, Kele could have said no but instead the went and got the guitarist.
This was clearly after a Bloc Party gig (he has a sore throat and sore fingers) so he thought he couldn't perform well.
This video makes me feel sentimental despite me having no connection to the shooting of this video or the people in it.
It simply feels like a look into someone's personal life, a candid, soft spoken song meant for only a few, shared with the world. Just great.

What's so cool about this video is how music has the capacity to quiet things. Notice all the hub-bub before they sing, the teeming, the movement, and then halfway into the song, you notice the quiet hush only good music can bring.

This is gorgeous. I wish this band was so great again. It had such a huge impact on my life at the time. This song, the whole scene, the way it was filmed it is beyond words!

I just love this song, and this version especially, it leaves an indelible mark. This song is just what I think describes me best in a way; it's just something I wanted to say out loud.
It's 2021, and I just love the fact that everyone there is just listening and enjoying, no one holding their phones up. Might just be that these last then years we've been running in the wrong direction.

La vidéo c'est faite grâce au guitariste, il regarde le chanteur au moment ou celui-ci essaye de ce deffiler, il joue tout doucement le regarde et la le chanteur ce décide et après c'est un moment de grâce :)
@Jays0nD hahah yeah no biggie. i still listen to them now (actually listening to them at this very moment) its just that I dont like any material after their debut album!
@loveisanumber .ps. not everything after Silent Alarm was bad though. A Weekend In The City had a handful of great tracks and so did Intimacy. maybe not as astounding as everything in Silent Alarm, but commendable nonetheless. and that's coming from a hardcore BLOC PARTY fan who saw them live 4x in just 2007 alone. =)
