My Persian recently became paralyzed out of nowhere. All vets suggested euthanasia to me because she wasn't eating, dragging her legs, pooping on the floor. We refuse, we force fed her, meds after meds. Looked like death... Bought her a wheelchair. Right when I assembled it, she started walking again. Later Eating. Playing. She's a lil fighter! Moral of the story is it may be very hard to dedicate a huge portion of your life for a pet to recover but if blessed, it may pay off. They're like your children. Miracles happen.

Not all parties have alcohol. It could've been a kid's birthday party. Kittens are small, so if they're not monitored, they can easily get underfoot. Maybe people could've watched where they stepped, but accidents happen. What matters is that he survived and has someone who takes care of him.
They took him to a clinic though, so maybe it was a lack of finances / time off from work / caregiving experience that influenced their decision. Maybe if they had the resources to help him, they would have kept him. I'm not that wealthy either, so if one of my cats became severely I'll, I'd seriously consider rehoming them with someone who could take care of their needs, even if it will hurt me to lose them. It would have been a different story if they'd left him in a ditch somewhere.
It's so wonderful to hear someone taking care of a helpless animal with lots of hope and livelihood, When my cat was young she had constipation problems, urinary tract infection and a kidney infection, friends and family told me I should put her down but I knew there was hope for her, and I never gave up on her, now 8 years later she's still thriving, I think this cat has helped me more than I've helped her, she helped me get through my cancer, having animals is a wonderful thing.
