    So, for me, one of the first things I do in the morning after waking up is come up with three main goals. usually I set one in health, one for school, and one for this channel. For example, one for my health goal would be to lift today or run a certain number of miles or eat under a certain number of calories. One for school might be to finish all the work for one class, and one for this channel might be to write a new script or reply to all my remaining comments.
    At the end of my day I have a one hour chunk of time scheduled to go back through my notebook and review my notes and make any adjustments to my schedule for the next day based on something I may have written down. Dana has some amazing tips to schedule your day and live through it to accomplish the maximum number of awesome things you can each day!

    Do not plan your day in the morning, you will overestimate your power level to be over 9000. It's better to do it in the evening when you are tired, because you have more realistic view of your own strength.

      More like plan stuff when you’re “tired”, whether it be in the morning or at night I feel sometimes when I’m tired in the morning I really don’t want to do as many things (depending if I wake up feeling good or not). So yeah I kind of get you, feeling tired can give you a real estimate of how your day went or is going to be.

      There is just something that confuses me, you say we should try to enter flow state and the next thing you talk about is taking breaks, couldn't those breaks break that flow state?

    • @heyall10
      @heyall10 7 лет назад

      Ya I had a group assignment where we collected ideas and i had lots of ideas and i had pretty good flow overall and also visions about what i need to do and say. Then we took a break and after the break i couldn´t get into that mindset anymore. Group asked me why am i so quiet and stuff but i couldnt think about the assignment and lost my flow completely. Any Tips about that ?

    • @PracticalPsychologyTips
      @PracticalPsychologyTips  7 лет назад +21

      If you enter flow state, you'll completely forget about taking breaks and have a seemingly endless amount of energy, but if you're not in the flow state, you'll need to take breaks to recharge. Depending on how you feel, don't feel guilty to take breaks to recharge. Hope this helps :)

    I just want to add the Pomodoro Technique. When working on any given task, turn off everything for 25 minutes and have laser focus on that particular thing that you are working, after those 25 minutes have a 5 minute break. When I first started to implement Pomodoro I was able to finish work in 1 hour that most of the time took 3-4 hours ( because I was checking facebook and youtube all the time )
    Anyway I totally resonated with Schedule your day, helped me immensely.
    Keep up the good videos I really like them a lot!

      oh yeah.. I kinda get u... but here's something might help u with that. In the very momment you're planning your day, or even ur week (I usually do that on Sunday evenings), being realistic and separate a certain amount of time for the urgences is helpful ... I always plan something around 60% of my time and let the rest for these stuffs that happens on daily basis that screws up our planning. so by doing that .. there's a great chance you'll acomplish your planning ... and when u get more used to that... u may even start planning more of ur time, like 65%, 70% and so on

    I really think that schedule everything is really important but there ir a hint in it, don´t stress out if you aren't on time. Im doing my mayor on industrial engineering and some times when Im doing a homework I take more time that what I would like to. In the past I would be all stressed and would not do the homework right just to be on time; now I just right what I need to do in the day and let me go with the flow. This works so good and I all ways finish my tasks.
    PD. I love your videos!!! I'm from Mexico and I think this is a great channel.

    I love the 3 main goals idea: that's how I make my daily to-do lists. When you only choose few importang things to focus on achieving, you are motivated & don't feel overwhelmed!
    It's even better if the goals are small if you are just starting with productivity!
    It's better to start small & end big, it's all about consistency!

      ***** I did....they're really great....what you think bout this....
      8 things you should do, everyday!
      1)Read something, anything for at least 10 min - it'll improve cognitive function, expand one's vocabulary and enhance creativity and imagination, and mental capacity
      2)Plan and Prepare in advance for the following day
      3)Prayer/meditation/reading Quran or holy scripture to enhance spirituality and enlightenment
      4)Exercise for at least 30 minutes to an hr daily to maintain overall health and physicality
      5)Show appreciation/acknowledgement for someone by doing something kind & nice for them or by just thank them.
      6)Go to bed early - proper sleep improves your overall mood and does the body well
      7)Learn something new everyday; knowledge is so valuable yet free to acquire and so beneficial! Tip :Learn from the experts though
      8)Improve an area of your life; be it private/personal/social/professional/family; it makes you a better person all around, and improves your interactions with others
      I came up with this list and narrowed it down after lots of research

  • @wordlance
    @wordlance 7 лет назад

    Great suggestions! I would recommend though that people be careful about scheduling your days out as suggested by Dana. One of my weaknesses is making lists. I find that I can make lists and plan with the best of them but my follow-through is terrible. So in the end making highly detailed task lists is a waste of time but if I write with broad strokes, maybe just list the major or pressing items I need to do, I am more likely to get them done.

    Awesome tips! I'm definitely going to implement them tomorrow.
    Here's some feedback about the sound in this video, please use sound equalizer or just stick to one person's voice. Your voice was so loud compared to your friend's that every time you switched over my cat freaked out. Even my mom asked why is my phone speaker so loud and told me to skip the ad lol. I had to keep adjusting the volume

    Dana's bonus tip is the most meaningful for me. I can relate to him because I am doing it too. I wonder what his note looks like and how does he organize the ideas he jot down. Thank you Practical Psychology for this video. I learned a lot.

      Yes... I believe that this is a very useful topic. I think a lot of people don't realize that may great ideas came to their mind but they don't make action because at the end of the day they forget all about it. By taking down notes for yourself make a big contribution for an individual to be more productive, it should be done in a daily basis and must be added to their daily routine.
