    It wasn't really flattening on the tops of the walls of my bath so I used a paintbrush - a single stroke along the length - seems to have nicely smoothed it out, but had to sacrifice the brush!

    If you don’t remove all of the old coating, and that becomes unstable and delaminates or start to lift ,then would it not then ruin the job later down the line, removing the old coating is a real job in its self, I know as I have done so many times, when re,surfacing baths, but I don’t like trusting a previous contractors coating.
    I would love to switch to this method, and eliminate having to strip what can seem to be a stable coating in some circumstances , but would be a nightmare to have to return to a job , and strip this and previous coating back to the original enamel,to start again.
    Love the great details you are putting into your instructional videos,it’s a great product.

    Thanks for the tutorial, it really helped me a lot, but could have done with a practice go first!
    My surface is not the smoothest, however, as in some of the areas where I poured did not flatten out fully and there are some bumps especially on the curved ends of the bath where it would have been flowing down. It took me a few hours to complete the job (ironically because I was trying to smooth out the surface!)
    Could it have thickened a little during this time and that be the reason?
    Can I sand these down or will I lose the glossy finish and be left with a scratched surface?
    I held back some of the stuff without mixing in case any touch-ups were needed - how long can this be stored and how best to store it?

    Was it necessary to show the prolonged stirring of the mixture ?

      Stirring should be properly and for at least 10 minutes

      👍ikr...and I'm like "There's no way I'm going to be able to coat the outer edge ( facing me ) before the bottom without coming in contact with that edge"....
      Not really understanding why you can't just work from the inside out [???]

    Why’d you start pouring it on the front first? Pour it on the back and sides and you don’t have to worry about getting on yourself. Silly goose

    I am preparing to resurface my old, cast iron bathtub. My tub has peeling spots from a previous resurfacing which I was planning to sand down the edges of to smooth so that the new surface can properly adhere to it. I also bought porcelain filler, but I don't think I need it. It looks like that's what's been done in this video, i.e. just sanded down the peeling spots, but in the narration it says to remove the old finish if it's peeling. Can someone tell me if I have to completely remove the entire old finish or if I can just ensure the peeled edges are sanded smooth before cleaning then application.

      If you can't effortlessly peel off the old paint, you can leave it. But you should try to smooth out the edges of the old paint on the walls and sides of the bathtub as much as possible.

    2 questions...
    ) My kit came with a roller, Not a spreader...Do I use it in the same manner?
    ) My kit came with "2K-24" part B epoxy, Not "2K-48" as shown in this vid...Is there a difference between your kit and mines and regardless, Is the application process the same?
    ...I'm starting to lose confidence in applying this coating...Seems a bit meticulous. I was expecting a more "one-step/apply & dry" aproach but great vid tho👍

    Do we have to remove all old paint or glaze if it’s not peeling? It looked like the tub was coated with something but it seems thicker then paint.

    • @EKOPEL
      @EKOPEL  10 месяцев назад

      There is no need to remove all old paint if it is not peeling off. you need to remove the parts that are peeling off, sand the top coat of old paint and smooth the transition between old paint and bathtub.

    It appears you did not mix the entire kit to resurface this bathtub? Iam doing the same job just the interior of the tub so how much ekopel should I mix up? What is the ratio of the two part epoxy when not mixing the entire container?

    • @EKOPEL
      @EKOPEL  10 месяцев назад

      Mixing ratio 100:17,5 (A:B)

    The material at the bottom of the tub ends up being very, very thick. Is that correct? Will it still dry ok?
    This video also doesn't mention the high (air) temperature the bathroom needs to have like other Ekopel videos do, is this not important anymore? I don't want to cook in the room if I don't have to.

    So… you spend several hours cleaning and prepping tub, but then put tape on surfaces and don’t have to worry about removing the adhesive? Did I miss something here? Will the finish adhere of there is tape residue on the surface?

    What type of cleaner do you use on the surface in order to keep clean but not damage the resurfacing coating? I don't want to have to repeat this process any time soon.

    • @EKOPEL
      @EKOPEL  2 года назад

      You can use any cleaner designed for bathtubs. But after you have poured the cleaner onto the surface, you need to bring it to a lather immediately.

    If I have a tub that has been painted before, but is peeling. Do I have to remove the entire previous paint coated or just scrape the loose paint and sand down .

    • @EKOPEL
      @EKOPEL  2 года назад

      It is important to scrape off all the paint that comes off. Paint that adheres properly can be left on.

      To me, that depends on how much you can trust the work prior to your refinishing. For me, I'd sand it just to prevent the guesswork. It wouldn't take long with a sander. I'd love to make you all a video of how I started and finished.
