i think i may have overdone it when heating up the back. I successfully replaced the charging board, but phone wont turn on and i think its because it overheated. It vibrates whenever i connect the charger and press the buttons to do a reset but shows no display nor turns on
No you cannot overheat those devices.

Hello, I unfortunately recently dropped my s20 plus (SM-G986U1). I don't have any issue other than the fact that its DP alt mode does not work. The usb c functions fine with file transfers and fast charging but I can not get the device to output video. Ive tried multiple adapters. Can the phone's DP alt mode break separately from the usb c functionality?
Did the DP mode work before you dropped it? And is the setup the exact same as the last time it worked? You need a specific type of USB cable to make it work, and even then there's a lot of trial and error between the cable and the receiving device whether or not it will work.

I was just thinking I don't have a hot plate ... but I do have a 3d printer with a heated bed that goes up to 80c lol. Might just give this a try.

I managed to change the pcb but couldn't get any signal. Fast charging works. Switching back to the old board does not show the connection problem. Revisions on the boards are the same.
Then it's defective just buy original one

Waterproofing of a phone is gone after at least one or two years. Or after some device drops.
You have to many seals that need to be replaced to be sure it's still watertight.
Just forget about that and make an insurance for your device so you don't have to care.

you are changing charging BOARD, not charging PORT.
Iam also replacing charging port. Nobody is replacing the port only would be stupid.
i do it with ease on every 2-3 days . I can do it for half an hour. I do it if customer is in hurry or not quality service part in time. May be you work in big city, but believe me in small city as mine this is casual situation. And i safe few bucks for everyday life. original part cost about 25eu, charging port cost 2 eu.@@allsmartrepairinternational
