    Hey Jimmy, thank you so much for all your videos. They have helped me tremendously. I recently got this cleaner but wanted to ask a question, is it possible to put this in an upright carpet cleaner? I have several stains over about a 3’ x 5’ area and was wondering how it would be possible to tackle all of it. And is it better to use this method or the ammonia/6% hydrogen peroxide soaking method?
    Lastly, is there a way to remove the ammonia odor after I used the soaking method? I smell it when the sun hits the carpet throughout the day.
    Thanks again for all you do, I appreciate you.

      Hi, you’re welcome. Thanks for your comment.
      Ammonia evaporates and completely turns to a gas. Once the carpet fully dries, there will be no ammonia odour.
      If you are concerned about urine odours, it is best to use the soaking method. If you are only trying to remove a urine stain, it is best to use this method.
      I wouldn’t use hydrogen peroxide in a carpet cleaning machine. Hydrogen peroxide needs time to break down stains and it is best used as shown in the video.

    Thank you so much. I've searched Hi and Lo trying to find the % of peroxide to use for pet stains. I purchased the gallon-sized 12% from Amazon and it's almost impossible to find out if it needs dilution, how much, etc. It seems to be a big secret!

    • @humptiness
      @humptiness 2 месяца назад

      For 12%, there are 12 grams of hydrogen peroxide per 100 ml of solution. If you want 6%, mix 100 ml of solution with 100 ml of water.

    Hi - this looks wonderfully straight forward. Would a weak/diluted white vinegar be a suitable replacement for amonia?

    • @MoondawgStudios
      @MoondawgStudios 3 месяца назад

      actually, i tried it anyway without vinegar, presuming that the urine (fresh overnight) had enough acid in it already to initiate a reaction
      11% H2O2 after enzyme cleaner, 10 mins of a saucepan of boiling water on top of a clingfilm barrier and the remaining stain has disappeared
      bit early to say if any damage to the carpet but, i did test earlier on an old piece of similar carpet with very old wine stains and no damage so, optimistically, it looks as if it may be ok

    • @TheStainGuide
      @TheStainGuide  3 месяца назад +2

      I use ammonia because it is a base and has a high pH. Using an acid will not help accelerate the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. The combination of heat and high pH helps break down the stain.
      I don’t recommend using boiling water. Boiling water will break down the hydrogen peroxide really quickly and will really help with breaking down the stain, but it can also strip dyes from the carpet and cause damage to the carpet.
      I also recommend using 6% hydrogen peroxide. 11% is very strong and not really necessary for stain removal.
      Nice going though. Glad to hear you got the stain out 😃

      Where do I get an enzyme? Brand? Anything else could work too?

    Everything seems to be okay so far ( I'm waiting for it to completely dry), but you always seem to have a lot of water and bubbles when you vacuum it up. I'm not getting that and I'm pretty sure I'm spraying a sufficient amount.

    Hey Jimmy, I’m keen to try this as one of my cats coughs up hairballs regularly, and the other one pees on the carpet occasionally when stressed, so we have a few stains.
    I have 6% hydrogen peroxide and ammonia - do I need to dilute either of them in a spray bottle?

    I just treated an old yellow urine stain on my beige carpet (previously treated with enzymes) and after using your method twice the spot remained. Interestingly, I noticed no ammonia smell so I checked the bottle I purchased through Amazon. The clear ammonia had almost no detectable odor of ammonia. I’m assuming this is why it’s not activating the H2O2. I just purchased another brand so I’m hoping this time it works. I will let you know. I would recommend avoiding the brand LA’s Totally Awesome Clear Ammonia. Very watered down. Fingers crossed it will work with the new ammonia.

      Did it work for you?

    • @susanbriggs862

      No, I tried it with new very strong ammonia. Maybe it’s just very cheap carpet. Even areas where my cat has vomited that I treated immediately, there is a persistent yellow stain. Even if it’s wicking up after it dries, repeated treatments should remove the stain. I’m not sure why it works for others and not for me.

    My problem is more of the odor, not really stain. In that case, what steps should I take? I heard that using ammonia based product will cause dogs to mark more. I want to deter my dog from marking again on the same spots…

      An enzymatic cleaner works to remove the odor. I've found success using Kids & Pets, and Nature's Miracle Urine Destroyer.
