    Maybe a small tip when ur sitting in the bunch just sitting in try to lower your cadance lowers your hart rate raster

      Hey! Thanks for the tip. I actually spin quite quickly on purpose, so that I can accelerate and react fast. Haven’t watched this particular video in a while though so I’ll have a nose 😃 I guess a easier way to think about it would be when you’re in the wrong gear at the traffic lights, and you go to peddle and the acceleration is so slow as you didn’t drop down a few 🤣

    Nice race and vid! Maybe something fun to add at the start is the stats from the race like ur np and av speed and ur ftp or something. Keep up the good work!

    Good job in your first Cat 3 race. My experience is Cat 3 is more tactical. Either you're freewheeling or you're on the rivet, going for a break/chasing a break. So recovery is really important, in order to give you the energy for the next break. Also more allegiances are formed. Breaks are willing to work together for the common good. Much more race-craft needed. You have to be thinking about moves and predicting the moves of others. In comparison, a Cat 4 is usually just about attrition. Everyone is riding their own race and the winner is the one who finishes the least tired at the end!
    P.S. Good luck in the Reading E123 but don't be surprised if you're dropped. I did a National Champs Crit at Hillingdon many years ago. Stayed with the bunch for 40min but then they all changed gear in the last 20min and blew me out the back in the space of half a lap. Ended up getting lapped by the front guys.

      Thanks! Yes I’ve def noticed the tactics a bit more. I raced Abingdon tonight and a break of 8-9 or so riders got away from pretty early in the race with a couple of riders in between by the end. I was on the wrong side of it but they worked really well as we didn’t gain on them and they got away. I managed to come 2nd in the bunch sprint though so that was a positive.
      I’ve just posted the E/1/2/3 video so you can see how that went. I did better than I expected but inevitably got dropped! ruclips.net/video/09caSBnK7s8/видео.html

    Good race breakdown and insight.
    I'm in 4th cat currently but have been doing mixed 3rd/4th races and actually find those easier than the 4th only.
    Average speed is 5-8kph faster too in the mixed.

      Hey sorry just seen this comment! Yea they tend to be a lot smoother too and I find less sketchy as the speed is higher and at times less heavily bunched up. Where abouts have you been racing

    Nice one Michael! What software do you use for the overlay? I use Virb and it seems to ruin the colour grading

    • @michaelgraycycling
      @michaelgraycycling  2 года назад +1

      I use dashware. And I followed the process Jeff Linder does on norcal cycling. I’ll find the link for you.

      ruclips.net/video/_L1EyJaX5DI/видео.html here you go. The only annoying thing is, Dashware is only compatible with Windows. So I have to do a bit of a crossover between my dads pc and my MacBook

      @@michaelgraycycling ahh no worries, it doesn’t work on Mac :( Virb isn’t terrible but I can definitely tell the difference when I compare it to other footage. Still better than nothing isn’t it :)

    Hi Michael - How do you create videos with watts and speed overlaid?

    • @michaelgraycycling
      @michaelgraycycling  Год назад +1

      Hey. Find your activity in Strava. And on the URL type /export_tcx
      When you do this it will download the data file to your computer.
      Then I upload it to a software called Dashware and upload the video to it. And from there it can sync itself.
      However it’s pretty fiddly. I think garmin have a way of doing it that’s easier. If you type in RUclips
      Cycling speed overlays, I’m sure it’ll come up
