Yep young calves are like deer. Many hours can be wasted searching for wayward calves.. Good job Eric's dad keeping us all informed , appreciated. The only thing with vacations is that they never seem long enough. You just start to sleep in a bit and get out of work mode and it's time to go back to reality 🤗
Totally agree about vacation time. It is not just the physical work that takes a toll but there is always stress like all the new barn planning and often things out of your control like the weather.
The conventional wisdom in Australia is that those who work hard, indeed Eric is one of the best, need a minimum of ten days vacation (here we say holidays or leave) to unwind. We really are spoilt Down Under with 4 weeks paid vacation annually, the USA is far less generous but whatever time Eric has had away from the business, I trust he has relaxed. I thoroughly enjoy all your presentations, it's like your audience is treated as an extended family. Again, well done, you're all appreciated.

Dad did a great job, good talker! Really feeling for you on the calf chase. Atone of the good things about the high tensile fence as opposed to barb wire of a single strand electric, it stretches. My Dad used High Tensile around part of our pasture. We had one bred heifer who was particularly adept at working their way through the fence, not a scratch or break. and would enjoy the grass on the lawn across the road. The good things was if the neighbor called, who ever was at the house would go to the fence and bang on a metal pail and the heifer would come back.
Your dad is really good at filming. We will miss you though.
